AMAZING LIVABOARD ON THE AZORES WITH PICO SPORT

I was on the Azores with Pico Sport from 16.7. - 23.7.2022 on a livaboard. Due to the announcements on the homepage of Pico Sport, the expectation to see sharks, whales and dolphins on and under water was naturally pretty high. The boat "Nobula" is not very big but very nice and offers space for a maximum of 7 guests. Since there were no more than 5 guests during my stay, there was plenty of room for us and I felt very comfortable on the boat. This was mainly thanks to the excellent boat crew Emanuel (Skipper) Tom (Dive Guide) and Charlie (Dive Giude). Tom and Charlie provided us with truly breathtaking dives with blue sharks, large schools of barracudas, goliath groupers, schools of up to 30 mobulas, and much more. Due to the challenging dives with sometimes strong currents, the dive guides placed great emphasis on the dive briefing and the safety of the guests at all times! In addition the fact that we had 2 guides for 5 guests also helped a lot to feel save and very well guided!

We were also treated by Tom and Charlie to a very tasty breakfast every day, some freshly caught fish for lunch and cookies and fresh fruit in the afternoon. Some of the evenings were rounded off with great shore excursions to Faial and visits to delicious restaurants with local cuisine.

A very special highlight was also our very experienced skipper Emanuel who has an incredible knowledge of the marine life in the Azores and knows the best places to see dolphins, and whales arround the islands. Emanuel is also very open to sharing his knowledge with the guests. Thanks to Emanuel we saw large schools of dolphins of different species, some sperm whales and even False Orcas from the boat.

All in all, it was just a fantastic experience in the Azores and an unforgettable holiday for sure.

Thanks to the excellent boat crew, I will definitely come back soon for a liveaboard in the Azores with Pico Sport.

What a great diving experience!
We visited the beautiful nature of Pico and its surroundings.
We enjoyed our stay on the liveaboard from Pico Sport very much.
We saw lots of mobulas, dolphins and sharks. The captain and diving crew did whatever they can to get the most out of the trip. Impressive!
Also the transfers, rental car and apartment were perfectly arranged.

Pico Sport is one of the best dive shops I have ever used. The team was both friendly and professional. I stayed on Pico Island for ~1 week, and it was the most exciting vacation of my life.

Before I got to Pico Island, I let Frank (owner of Pico Sport) know what dives I was planning on doing. Frank and his team were very well organized. They helped me plan out which days I would be doing each dive, and they made sure I got to see as much as possible with the limited time that I was there.

Every day felt like a new adventure. I got to see Whale Sharks, Blue Sharks, Mobula Rays, and various species of Dolphins/Whales (posting some pictures that I took). I could not be any happier with how everything turned out, and I thank Pico Sport for making it all possible. This is truly a great experience, and I highly recommend booking through Pico Sport!

Amazing tour!

They did everything in there power to let us see as much animals as possible.

We saw a flying fish, a group of small whales and 2 types of dolphins.

There even was a small turtle in the water with some kind of plastic or something in his nose. So the turtle couldn't dive. After another group saw the turtle and took some pictures they went of. Our 'driver' saw the obstruction en with the tour guide helped the turtle! Beautiful and amazing to see how they helped the animal.

A really great experience! We have booked a whale watching tour with Pico Sports and have not regretted anything. The special thing with the people at Pico Sport, beside being nice, sympathic and giving you a lot of information in a very nice way, is that they really respect nature and the animals. Roxanne and the crew showed this by stopping at a whale who had a sloap and an anchor at its tail until help came to cut the sloap. Great experience and behaviour. Me and my friend stayed on Pico Island for a week doing activities with Pico Sport every day and it was absolutely amazing! I would recommend staying for a lot longer as there are so many incredible things to do. The staff at Pico are all such lovely and fun people. Charlie, our personal diving instructor, was the best! It was my first time diving in Pico and he made me feel so comfortable and safe.

I had the opportunity to go on a whale watching tour on this fantastic island, and it was undoubtedly one of the best experiences of my life! I had the opportunity to see pilot whales and dolphins! the experience was even better because our guide, Lisa, was fantastic! I advise everyone to take this tour with this company, you will certainly not regret it.

Roxanna and the team were wonderful! They were so friendly and informative before and during the boat trip.

The trip was a lot more rough than expected but Roxanna and the crew made sure everyone was safe and comfortable.

As a pregnant traveler they were extra accomodating ensuring I was able to get on and off the boat safely and always had access to seating.

We were fortunate enough to see bottle nose dolphins, sperm whale and humpback.

I would highly recommend using Pico Sport and would love to return again (perhaps in calmer waters!)

My wife and I just returned from a three week diving trip on the live board Narobla (owned and exploited by Pico Sport). The trip was once again Fantastic. Excellent diving. But most importantly, the service on board was outstanding. Emanuel (captain) did everything to bring is to the best and most isolated dive-sites. The dive masters (Tonny and Charly) did a wonderful job in the kitchen and in the water. Their service on board was extraordinary. Thank you and see you next year !

Fantastic team, great equipment and amazing time!

We went diving with Pico Sport four times on two sperate days. Our rental diving equipment was of great quality and better than we have experienced with other companies. The dive guides Nair and Jana were very competent and super friendly.
Moreover, it is amazing what we were able to see under water!

Amazing experience with this diving club ! Full equipment available in renting (swimsuit, hoodies, gloves...), staff professional and friendly and amazing dives.

We had the opportunity to do their shark dive, we saw 4 blue shark at the same time. It has been done in a secure and professional way.

I highly recommend their day trip to Princess Alice Bank, they have one of the biggest dive boat in Madelena and the dives are just mind blowing.

Amazing and recommended whale watching trip with Pico Sport!
Guys were so Nice and they really tried to find some great spots for whale watching. We got an additional info about whales in detail so perfectly prepared for a trip.There are many whale migration routes so you never know which type of whales you will see. We personally saw blue whales and dolphins. :)

Pico Sport is very well situated adjacent to Madalena harbour where everything related to diving and town amenities are very close. The staff were very professional and , despite my late booking, were able to organise a weeks diving, supply all equipment and provide accommodation close by to the dive centre.
Diving in the Azores provides a 'different' but very exciting experience due to the clear waters, dramatic rock formations and the pelagic fish species that pass the Azores transiting the Atlantic. Highlights are the shark dive where close up encounters with the Blue Sharks are virtually guaranteed and the spectacular Mobular Rays which can be seen in big numbers if you are in the right place at the right time. Add to this whale watching (I was lucky to see Sei Whales and Pilot Whales). Azores well worth a try and I can recommend Pico-Sport dive centre.

I picked up my rental car from Pico Sport (rented from Pico Island Adventures). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Car reservation, pick up and return was easy and smooth. No issues at all. Didn't request deposit for car reservation and didn't charge extra for adding additional driver. The auto car is new and fun to drive. One of the best cars I rented in Azores. I would definitely rent from them again if I return to Pico. Thanks!

Fantastic shark dive with Sebastian as instructor.
Had to search for sharks for 3 hours, but Seb did not give up until we were finally rewarded with 2 sharks. 65 minutes underwater with 2 sharks around us. An unforgettable experience.
