This Museum has everything: instructive, open air, interaction, the reconstruction of the history is simple and artistic. And it's free on Sunday. 5/5!

Beautiful place surrounded by traditionally stone-fenced vinyards. No need to make a reservation (maybe for really large groups?). We arrived at midday and there were not many people. There seems to be no official parking lot, but it is easy to park along the street. The entrance fee is really low (around 2 per person eur if I remember correctly), regarding how much thought and work has been put into the exhibition and maintenance of the place. We were welcomed warmly, and received some advice on where to go for local wine tasting, as well as a thorough explanation on what we will see in the museum. We received a folder with English translation of the exhibition as most descriptions are in Portuguese. There are several buildings and each displays the history of wine making in the Azores, the processes and traditional tools used as well as presenting various wine sorts and aromas using lovely visuals and multimedia tools. There was also an interactive game where you were supposed to identify wine colors and aromas from samples, but unfortunately it did not seem to work for us. Maybe we just did not get it, still it was interesting to see all the aromas that can be present in the wine and smell the samples. Note, this is not wine tasting, this is an interactive game, with cylindric aroma samples, not wine samples:) Considering they have a beautiful yard and ample space it would have been lovely if wine tasting were offered here as well, still it is definitely an informative and extremely visuallly pleasing experience worth the time.

Interesting place with great views. The information is good. Not all information is in dual languages as you might be used to. However I see it as my fault for not learning Portuguese, and I could make out the gist of what it was telling me. So it didn't detract from my visit.

Very pretty setting and friendly staff. The displays are in portugues and there is an English translation laminated guide available. Amazing the tenacity and effort used to create the wine industry in a landscape as harsh as this volcanic rock, wind, and sea spray.

Very interesting musem with very precise text explaining. The grapes fields are UNESCO protected and you can see a sample in this museum. The wine history small exhibition show a shortage summary of global wine expanding which is very good. In the garden there are several multi-centuries Dragon trees that are impresive. This museum entry cost only 2eur. It’s a must in Pico Island!

The museum is self guided, if you do not speak Portuguese you will be given a booklet to guide you through. The most interesting part (for us) was the interactive smell and vision quest :)
