It was literally the best experience I had in an emergency service my whole life. The friendliest staff are over there, from the receptionist to the doctor. All of them were friendly and spoke great English and French. The waiting time was very short (30 mins instead of 4h+ in French emergency services..). I highly recommend. Plus I only paid 18€ in total.

Friendly and competent staff; however, I suggest lowering the voices, especially in the neurological ward.

Today I went to the hospital as a German tourist because I had a vitreous detachment in my eye. It was Sunday and I was at the emergency service.
It all happened very quickly. From the reception to the examination by the very competent ophthalmologist.
The Portuguese health system covered the costs, as I have statutory health insurance in Germany.
Once again, my heartfelt thanks to all the friendly people at the hospital. I never felt left alone for a minute.

My daughter went to the hospital while vacationing in Porto. She was very sick and was having great difficulty breathing. The staff was phenomenal from start to finish, ordering every possible test in order to determine what was causing her symptoms. She had an atypical pnemonia, so it took awhile to diagnosis, however, they communicated with my husband and I, and spent so much time making sure we understood what was happening (we were in America). My daughter is still recovering, but we are so grateful for the professionalism and compassion shown by the staff at this hospital.

My partner needed emergency appendicitis surgery, so we ended up here. It's a public hospital, so everything takes a bit of time but they handled the surgery well and most of the nurses were very kind and warm. English can be a hit or miss but don't be shy and use Google Translate if needed. The surgeon and doctor both spoke good English. I am very Thankful and grateful for successful surgery and one week hospitalization. As my partner was EU citizen, we didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.

Warmest welcome. After some bad school results I came to Porto to take surf lessons and in the evening I had suddenly panic attacks. The staff from the hospital were so extremely warm & kind. I was on my own so a bit stressed but the doctor explained everything very well. Thank you very much 🙏🏻 Kind Regards, Eline from Belgium

I had a good experience, the stuff was good and good doctors. Yes you need to wait a lot of hours for everything, the hospital is poor ,its hard to stay here but they do they best to help with what they can.

Amazing hospital and staff. I couldn’t have asked for better care during my 10 nights there. Thank you.

I came in, because i couldn't get enough air in my lungs for several days, I caughed a lot and was really scared. They made multiple tests and gave me some medication. That's why I was able to wake up today, after my first night of uninterrupted sleep since quite some time, breathing normally. I am still a bit weak on my feet but wanted to take the time to thank them here.
I probably should have gone there earlier but they really took their time and were really patient with my anxiety.
Witnessing their kindness towards me, as well as other patients really touched me. They deal with a lot of stress but still find some moments to show you, that they really care and do all they can to help.
And also: sure, it is likely that you have to wait for some hours before the doctors in the emergency room have time to look at you (for me it was around 3-4 with a yellow armband), but they don't take long to rate the level of emergency before that... And to be honest: if you were so sick, that you get the orange or red armband, you would also don't understand why someone whose treatment is less urgent gets a treatment before you do. For some people it can be about minutes and hours and i really had the feeling that they asked all the right questions to judge that...

I went into the accident and emergency department after badly spraining my ankle. From reception to triage to orthopedics to radiography, everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Every time I sat down expecting a long wait, within minutes I was being called to the next stage. I had to pay €120 before I left, because my EHIC card had expired, so lesson learned! Very big thanks to everyone I encountered there.

I went there on a Wednesday morning after to being referred by a doctor for ear treatment during a short stay in Porto. Even though my case was not urgent, I was seen to and treated in under 30 mins - probably because I was seeing an Otologist. If you're going for generalist treatment, might be best to turn up early to avoid long waits. ID and EHIC (if you have one) needed.

Came here on holiday in Porto (I'm English) Found an English speaking doctor and was seen with a very short wait, very smooth process and professional staff.

Had consultation, painkillers and an X-Ray for €19. They only accept cash or Portuguese bank cards though. Bring your passport too.

Obrigada. 🙏🏻

Nas várias vezes que infelizmente tive que me deslocar ao hospital, fui sempre bem atendido (muito moroso) e tentaram resolver o problema que lá me levou.
