Mercado S. João

The only Portuguese words I had memorized on my first day in Porto, were Obrigada (Thank You) and Boa Tarde (Good Afternoon). But these patient, helpful and sweet people helped me find everything on my rather long grocery list.
They had loads of fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as canned and bottled groceries and other goods, toiletries, bottled water and juices, wines, etc. Everything seemed very reasonably priced too.
I will go here throughout our month-long stay in Porto.
I highly recommend their lovely grocery store. In the picture, they are the green awning on the right…very nice location, close to the river.

Brilliant local shop for small stuff you might need after arriving and discovering you forgot stuff. The people are great.. bear in mind cash is king in Portugal..so here the prefer you pay in cash but they can do Card as well

Hardworking family and elderly staff , very humble and helpful. You will find almost everything for a household at a very reasonable prices . Despite in middle of tourist hotspot , they genuinely charge . For example , we bought 1 liter water bottle for 60 cents and on the same block another store was charging 2 euros for same . Fresh vegetables , fruits, milk , eggs available too . Highly recommend for anyone looking to save money, support local business and get good service to shop here .

The prices are beyond reasonable and even cheap for the area the store is in! The family running it is so friendly and helpful. They were so nice with me and my son. Great selection of wines. You can find most grocery essentials here that you may need.

For a mini market, it really has everything I needed. The people who own this place are so nice, kind and helpful. Everytime I asked them for recommendation, they come and help me find what I needed. I highly recommend this place. And it has the best prices too. Even though the location is Fantastic, right by the river and in the middle of a touristy área. This mercado has what you need. It did for me.

Great little grocery store. Honest pricing, especially the fresh produce. Lovely lady at checkout, very friendly and courteous.

Nice little place to buy some veges and fruits. The owner helps to move the queue fast.

Cute supermarket with good prices if you don’t want to spend all your savings on designer sardines.

5유로 이상만 카드 가능인데 항상 5유로 이상 사서 문제 없었음!
