Castelo de Lamego

Fabulous drystone tower and fort topping the old town. Panoramic 360 views of the town and countryside. Docent on duty to answer any questions. Well worth the short walk up the stone streets to this well-preserved monument!

Amazing place to visit! Heaven on earth, cold water, many pools and little waterfalls, we came on a hot day and could stay there all day!
There is also a nice bar with cold and hot drinks,
A must stop in my opinion..

Small little castle inside the inner city. A car can drive close to its front entrance.

Apparently, there were many lookout sites around so this castle was built small as a last defence.

There were a few bars, guest houses and restaurants in the inner city. However, most of the commerce are all located outside at foot hill.

Nice view to check out the inner city and the city of lamego.

Simple castle but in a great spot.

There isn't much to see in the castle though.
Nonetheless it's still a great place to visit.

Superb medieval walled town with castle at its core. Amazing cistern built 13/14th centuries to store water.

Nice historic castle in the middle of the town. It's free to visit and the local tourist guide speaks many languages so you feel very welcome, plus on the way out there is another free archeological preserved site to visit. Wonderful 😊

We did not go in the castle, just walked around

After a steep climb through the streets we reached the Castle. There are great views of Lamego. There is also a small exhibit that was being constructed.
Oh. It's completely free. There is also a museum and the Cistern that are also completely free.

Though not big a wonderful rounded experience assisted by these very interested guides. I enjoyed the cistern and stories of the grave, the view from the castle is amazing

Beautiful views! I wish we could have accessed the top but walking around the walls was nice. It's a very nice and scenic climb to the castle!

Great view, clean, well kept. Not much information but an enthusiastic guide greated us and send us afterwards down to the Nucleo Archiological Museum (where they have a toilet). Worth a visit!!
