A Taberna do Porfírio

Good atmosphere in the "esplanada" in Lamego. We booked for diner in the terrace and despite the crowd the service was very friendly and timely. The food meets the expectations of traditional Portuguese dishes. I recommend it.

Profirio was a recommendation by a local taxi driver when we asked for a restaurant serving traditional Portuguese dishes and wine and it absolutely delivered. We arrived late on a thursday night and everything happened with expediency. From being sat to having our first drink served, order taken and promptly fed. Perhaps my only criticism, and I'm reaching here, is that when we asked for red wine, a bottle was bought for us without seeing the list. We probably would've spent more BUT, the wine served was more than sufficient and of good quality so we remain happy. We shared the mixed sausages and mixed grill main. Exactly what we were after. This is clearly a local favourite as the customers all seemed to have friendly interactions with the staff and proprietors. This is always reassuring as a visitor to this quaint and surprisingly stunning town. Very happy to have been given this recommendation

Absolutely amazing vegan cannelloni! I was mindblown.

This was a great find. It was Sunday evening so not many restaurants were open in the centre. Vincent the owner and chef could not have been more friendly or attentive. Two of us chose lamb chops and they were utterly delicious and cooked to perfection. My wife had Cod which she said was perfect and the other dish chosen was Pork Belly - which was also very good. There is a very good wine list with wines for every budget. We had two bottles of exceptional wine, a Douro Guwurtztraminer and the House Tinto plus an additional glass of House white and the bill was an amazing 77 euros. Exceptional value. Our waitress was divine and spoke very good English. Of course there will be smarter restaurants but this was a great local experience and we enjoyed it immensely.

Friendly and informative staff. We chose steak with creamy pepper sauce which was delicious and steak was cooked to perfection. Head waiter told us about the traditional wines and foods from the area too.

The food was excellent. Yet the service could use some improvement... Waiter managed to get the order somewhat wrong, on a party of four and the restaurant was practically empty! Even so, highly recommended!

Une très bonne adresse. J'ai adoré le porc noir grillé servi avec des légumes, la soupe et la tarte aux amandes. Le vinho verde était parfait avec. Prendre la demi portion pour les plats car c'est copieux. Excellent rapport qualité prix. Service impeccable.
