The most gorgeous doors of wood and brass. The entire town of Lamego is so beautiful and worth a visit. It was closed for lunch when we got there, but still enjoyed viewing the outside.

Lamego is a small, accessible town with a lovely atmosphere, a world famous sanctuary and cathedral.

What a church. 😳
Haven't seen anything like this before. Paintings everywhere, golden status and beautiful choir area.
This is equivalent to the best cathedrals in the world. Just from a small inland town in northern Portugal.

The way to reach here is a wide avenue to rival again from capital cities. Not just Portugal but other big cities in Europe.

Even if you're not religious this is worth a visit.
Don't miss it.

Beautiful cathedral and grounds. From the front patio you can view the Lamego Museum. There are 611 easy steps to the town level.

Difficult to believe this city cathedral dates back to 1129.

Not large as cathedrals go you will think, but then remember it was built in the 11/12th century - it would have been huge at that time. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful cathedral with an altar that glows. Gorgeous grounds as you walk down the staircases and terraces to the town below.
