How to describe Six Senses Douro Valley? The location is mesmerising, you have an amazing view to the river and the vineyards around. The space? Really beautiful and so tasteful. The hotel and it's interior as well as the gardens, so well decorated, with great detail. Also, it smells great everywhere. I was constantly both excited and relaxed with all i was seeing and sensing throughout the while experience, not to mention the absolutely gorgeous pools and spa (not a fan of the ice one, but great idea) 😂
The food? Amazing. Dinnner, breakfast, or even the snacks around, just perfect.
The staff? Extremely kind and nice. So well prepared to provide assistance or transmit relevant knowledge about the hotel, the region, the food, the wine. Great dining tips as well.
You add to all this the perfect company, and it was easily one of the best experiences in my life.

I won’t repeat what everyone else wrote. This is the BEST hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I’m a very discerning and picky hotel person. Can’t wait to come back!

Two things that could be improved. Make the hotel adult only. When there are so many kids splashing around the pool, it removes the aura of relaxation. The prices charged are out of control for a few things. 40Eur for a glass of champagne is not necessary in Portugal. I know this is an upscale property but some of the prices just feel wrong.

The Six Senses stands out in every aspect. It's in a 19th-century manor high on a hill overlooking vine-covered terraces and the Douro River at its feet. It's serene, and the property seemledsly blends contemporary interiors with it's more traditional exterieor and the region's heritage.

You will get exceptional service in every interaction. The attention to detail in service is remarkable, down to the smallest gestures.

Food at the resort is another high point, with nutrient-rich dishes sourced from the property itself, and varied daily.

It's worth noting that while the resort itself is immaculate, offering stunning views and luxurious amenities, the surrounding local towns are unremarkable making the resort ideal for those looking to relax in a secluded setting without much exploration outside the hotel grounds.

Rooms are beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean, with the added tech for convenience controlling room features.

We adored this hotel. It was absolutely gorgeous in the hills of the valley with spacious rooms. The food was delicious and so incredibly fresh. The pool had an amazing view, and the trails around the property were wonderful to explore. Would definitely recommend!

One of the nicest resorts I’ve ever been too. We absolutely loved everything about this place. The Spa was definitely the highlight with the 4 different steam rooms and the two types of saunas along with cold plunge and several massaging type of jacuzzis was just amazing.

We had the most magical stay at this hotel and simply could not recommend it more highly!

This hotel is a treat. The spa is fantastic with wonderful massages, medi spa services, and biologique recherche facials. The indoor pool is great with a wonderful hot and cold tub. We loved the room on the whole with wonderful amenities and the emphasis on wellness and comfort. The views are wonderful. The only issue we had with the panoramic suite was an intermittent loud banging sound in the room until past midnight. We didn't say anything because it only happened on the first and third night so we weren't sure after the first night if it was going to happen more than that once. It was the only slightly not perfect thing in an otherwise more than perfect hotel. All in all we love it and can't wait to return. It's very expensive but it's a lovely treat. They even rinsed our car before we left!

We came here to celebrate our recent engagement, and truly loved it. The hospitality was top notch and overall experience was lovely. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the same restaurant but still found variety and enjoyed every plate. The walks around the hotel were especially fun, interesting and gorgeous. The attention to detail, even at the pool, was noticable and appreciated. Great hotel and stay.

Drinks and bar snacks only. Valet parking service. Situated majestically against the vineyard backdrop. Friendly, attentive service on arrival. Exceptional attention to detail. Magnificent general garden for walks and well laid out veggie gardens. A real treat to visit.

What an unbelievable scenario...and service.
If visiting this wine region...this is a must.

Price wise...some products, like natural juices, are off the mark. All else is according to quality.

Amazingly professional staff. Greeted by every staff member we passed during our days there. Gorgeous views from fantastically appointed rooms. Lovely grounds. The spa services are also excellent. This was only part of a three location Lisbon holiday, but we'll do a full week here next time.

We stayed 2 days for a wedding held in the hotel. The whole hotel is beautiful, the surroundings, spa, pool and rooms all lovely and very comfortable. The thing to at makes this hotel is the experience the staff create. It’s so relaxing being there, can easily find somewhere to chill and be on your own. I loved exploring and finding little nooks to spend some time to enjoy the scenery. At the same time there’s always a member of staff to help if you need anything, and everyone is super friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer!

THE place to stay in the Douro Valley. A beautiful resort with views of the river, a peaceful outdoor pool, great dining options, and best of all - the spa. We were so relaxed here. You can take several walks around the property through vines or into the woods. The concierge also has incredible suggestions for nearby activities!

Wow, once again Six Senses delivered on their exceptional standards of service and client care. I asked one staff about their training as I kept being amazed by the service. One value they learn is emotional hospitality i.e. caring for clients with your 6th sense. How beautiful!

Darcy at the restaurant went that few steps above and beyond to make my experience even more memorable and the sweet spa lady Mikaela surprised me with a letter explaining the meaning of a philosophical quote I wanted to understand better with my friend. She also left me some incense which I intend to use for a special moment. Wow, that gesture really surprised me.

I also receive a card with a love letter from my partner, delivered in my room, got a few boxes of my favourite Truffle chocolates before leaving and their breakfast was the healthiest I have ever experienced in a hotel. I love all the complimentary treats they give and the spa is top class, they have a cold plunge and infrared sauna 🙏🏼

Only negative is the Asian / Portuguese restaurant wasnt great food wise, not on par with the rest of the offering at the hotel. And wellness treatments felt a bit too basic but that's just me. Not enough holistic treatments in my view.

You can't go wrong going to this place. I stayed 6 days and each day had its own set of surprises. Beautiful experience, will surely continue to use six senses in the future 💜

One of the best hotels indeed 👍🏼 5 🌟 in everything! The wonderful warm and welcoming staff 😄 They receive you with a smile and make your stay worthwhile. The food is delicious! Gourmet food all the time! I would love to come back to this place again and again

One of the best hotels in the world for sure! Not only the imense care the staff has with you in every second but the rooms and food are just to die for. In one of the best locations on the Douro valley this is a jewel in Portugal. Have been a couple of times and will return every year. Best breakfast and eggs benedict in the world.

Simply the best. Felt like we should have spent our whole time in Portugal here from the moment we arrived. Beautiful facilities, staff are super friendly and helpful, lots of activities to do on site. Next time we will definitely stay longer (only stayed two nights)

We spent a few days here for our honeymoon and it was incredible, the classes/experiences are definitely worth doing. The service was incredible, the staff are so knowledgeable and the food and drink was amazing! We could not fault a thing!

Best time to visit is around November, when all the grape leaves turn red and yellow. We were lucky to visit on sunny week. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Should try the wine testing and the tasting menu the main restaurant. Love their breakfast and yogurt and even dinner menu. Everything is fresh and organic. Love all the breads, the bakery chef is really doing a good job.
