Pousada Convento Vila Viçosa

We stayed at this hotel for our daughter's wedding in June 2022. We had the place to ourselves for 3 full days for our celebrations.
I cannot describe how wonderful this place is. Beautiful surroundings, a beautiful building, all the rooms that I entered were beautifully furnished and very comfortable, were very clean and well stocked.
This place is just amazing. If you like photography, take extra memory cards because you won't be able to stop taking pictures of the amazing things to see. The food is exquisite, and the service was superb.
Now the staff.... The manager George was excellent. Planning for the wedding was superb, and he just could not do enough the make sure everything went brilliantly. Any request, slight change to the plan, items needed, extra staff for a sudden request for a poolside snack for the party, all done. And with a smile. Thank you George, you helped make our stay so enjoyable, from all of the guests, a massive thank you.
The rest of the staff.. I just cannot say how wonderful they ALL were. Long hours, all with a smile and always there if needed. Ivan, who assisted at the pool party was wonderful. What a worker!
The area manager, Nuno also visited, and was a star. Thank you.
This place is well worth a visit, you will not be disappointed.

This was our 3rd time here, we love this rambling hotel which has lots of rooms to discover. The breakfast, as always, was wonderful, with different options on the 2 days. Lovely pasteis de nata. The pool area has a bar where you can order food. Try the wonderful gaspacho, different from the Spanish one. There's a games room with table tennis, an added bonus. We wanted to stay longer! Parking no problem. Thank you to all the staff.

This hotel is very peacefully, you will enjoy every minute in this historical hotel and you will feel that you are living history inside. The rooms are very comfortable and the waiters were 5 stars, they always care about the customers. I recommend since you are not paying for staying in a simple hotel, but you will feel that you travel in time and living a bit of history. 5*

A 500 year old convent for wealthy nuns, now a remarkable hotel. Absolutely fascinating. The grounds, rooms and the entire space is filled with history, art, fine marble, ancient wood, frescoes and the sense that time has both stood still and leapt into the modern age.

Beautiful location, steeped in history and deliciously spooky. Service was excellent, rooms well maintained. Restaurant served some great local dishes, each delivered with a great deal of attentiveness and enthusiasm from staff.

This is one of the most fabulous hotels I have stayed in. So so much history everywhere you look. The location was the best. I highly recommend this place.

Great place to stay next to the palace. Huge public rooms in a convent within short walk of town and castle. Guest rooms are grouped around the old cloister.

This is one of my favorite places for a weekend getaway. Good food, very relaxing environment and some historical sites to visits if you feel like some historical culture after a good meal.
