Restaurante Alento

Alento was recommended by our hotel. The service was excellent, a very pleasant atmosphere and plenty of other dinners eating at 7.30pm. We chose a main course and desert. Each dish was of a high standard and the quality of fish and cooking perfect. Happy to highly recommend

We decided to stop and sightsee a few hours in Vila Nova de Milfontes and, thanks to Google reviews, found this place.

Our waiter, Flavio, was amazing! He described how fresh the food was and invited us to watch it being prepared in the open area. Based on his recommendations, I ordered the grilled octopus, my husband ordered the monkfish. Both dishes were excellent, as well as the bread. Great choices.

While chatting with Flavio, we said we were traveling to Lagos. He went above and beyond by not only recommending a restaurant there, but also calling to make us reservations! Wow!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Alento. The food was excellent. My wife called her octopus dish 'exquisite,' and my duck was delicious. The red wine the owner selected for me was great. The service was friendly, informative, and timely. We'll certainly return to Alento the next time we're in Vila Nova.

Beef was a bit too salty, but didn't ruined the good taste, just maybe the chef is in love :)

The food is terrific. The environment and decorations are pleasant. Open kitchen that pops the appetite for everything. The staff was ok. It was pricey but worth it. Recommended.

The best dining experience we’ve had in Portugal. We booked a table for dinner after walking by the restaurant in the day time. The restaurant itself is lovely and the staff are verrry efficient but friendly. It’s clear that they are passionate about their food and cooking with only the freshest high quality ingredients. We ordered some starters and had the octopus and pork neck for main - the pork neck was like no pork I’d ever tasted before!! Super creamy and almost caramelised. Everything from start to finish was impeccable.

Make sure you book a table. We saw lots of disappointed people get turned away because they were booked up

This place is better than the pictures. It's more a tourist place than a local place, but the food is amazing and reasonably priced. Classical local base products, but prepared with a modern/ world kitchen twist by 2 enthousiastic cooks. The waiters are nice and service oriented, once you have broken the ice beyond the "are you ready to order?" Even on a Monday evening off- season the place was sold out. And for good reason. Downside? Maybe wines are somewhat over priced.

This was the best place we have had dinner in Portugal. We had a long day of hiking and we had such a warm welcome by the staff. The food was amazing and the wine as well. Will recommend to anyone who visits this place. The best.

Beautiful restaurant from moment of entry to last spoon of dessert. The whole staff are so welcoming, gracious and attentive. Pork neck risotto was a highlight - kitchen team should be very proud of themselves. I was lucky to be served by Leandro, who made sure I was looked after all night. Can’t recommend this spot enough if you like hearty, authentic food at a very accessible price! - also posted on trip advisor, but needs to be repeated!

Very good experience. Lovely crew with great service. The know how to up sell, so be aware of that. Food was great. High flavor and good portion. If I had to give a remark, the starter with the clams and scallops was €19,50. That’s expensive for Portuguese standards.

Such a charming place. The street view photos don’t begin to do it justice. The front/“outside” part of the restaurant has more or less the feel of eating on a covered patio. We had a large open window right by our table. Loved the inside/outside feel. Our entrees were grouper and monkfish. Both were beautifully plated and were delicious. We also had the ceviche, which was served with grapefruit, lime, and sweet potato purée. The house made preserves are some delightfully salty fish fillets in olive oil that you put on their house made bread. Also pictured is the house made butter. We were attended by two of the most helpful, personable, and earnest servers I have ever met. In short, a wonderful experience.

Probably the best restaurant in Milfontes. The staff was incredibly helpful from start to end, particularly careful with dietary requirements and the food was delicious. We had the ceviche for starter and the fish rice with squid for main, all very tasty. Good wine menu. Overall highly recommended.

Amazing food in a cosy setting, right on the main road of Vila Nova de Milfontes. The interior is warm and welcoming, the menu elaborate, and service top notch! Flavio was our waiter for the evening and we couldn't have wished for someone better. Highly recommend this place!

We had a week traveling through Costa Alentejana full of amazing dining experiences and this was the best one. Everything was top notch from the moment we walked in the restaurant till we left. Nothing but good things to point out really. The couvert was great, the octopus and codfish was super tasty and the chocolate & caramel dessert was the big finish we needed. Staff was awesome as well. If you are in the area, call in and reserve your table!

One of the must-visit restaurants in Vila Nova Mil Fontes. Food incredibly fresh and delicious. The staff provide a very helpful and willing attitude during the meal. Incredible experience! Dinner: Risotto Tamboril + novilho a Portuguesa.
