A Telha

This place owned by Jorge, who has worked here since he was 18, is a little gem in Vila Nova. Jorge serves each table with care and introduces himself and the restaurant. It's not fancy, but the kindness, service and lovely food are just what's needed. It's inexpensive compared to the outrageous prices in all the more sought after restaurants. The fare is simple but fresh and well prepared. We had dinner here first, and were very well received even though it was close to closing time. Anything we needed we were given. We also got recommendations and a lovely chat. The chips are frozen but that is the very small flaw and acceptable given the low prices. We had grilled seabass and a steak (bitoque) with egg and all was tasty. Great bread and cheese, not a rip off. The next day we came back for clams with wine, garlic and olive oil sauce (Bulhão Pato). Whereas anywhere else you pay 16-22€ for one serving, here we had a serving each, each was only 10€! It was a marvellous feast, memorable. With buttered toast, a large side of fries, and a ton of sauce, we couldn't be happier. To top it off, Jorge suggested a carrot cake with cream at the end that was delicious. Best meal we had in town! Dinner for 2 with bread, cheese, dessert and wine was 38€. Lunch with a mountain of clams, fries, beer and dessert was only 31€, incredible. I wanted to write this review because this place has what seems to me a strangely low review score. Perhaps some do not understand that a simple, no frills, but good quality and traditional place where prices are not ripping you off and you are treated like family is something very valuable indeed. Very nice autentic portugese food. We had fresh grilled salmon with fries and a mini salat for 12,50 € as the daily offer. It was simple but super tasty. No jokes, just go there and enjoy.

Good food, the real Portuguese thing! The hardworking staff pulled it out admits the waves of clients.

If you want to eat really traditional Portuguese food this is the place for you. The "sardinas" and the cud couldn't be better! One of my favourite places to eat in Vila Nova de Milfontes. Don't bring your dog because they have not pets allowed policy.

They don't speak English but are soooo nice you will understand them no matter what! Highly recommended the food is very good.

Very friendly staff and great food. The price is below average. It's a great and cozy place to have lunch or dinner. It's possible to order to take away.

Easy going, local, not touristy, delicious and convenient food. Paper napkins and tv on on the footbal match. Fresh grilled fish and meat. I loved it

Que boa surpresa. Depois da disposição não ser a melhor por não ter conseguido reserva no restaurante que queríamos, a Telha tinha mesa para nós, e foi o melhor que podia ter acontecido. O senhor brasileiro (infelizmente não me lembro do seu nome) que está a atender é simplesmente maravilhoso: profissional, educado e com uma boa disposição que sem dúvida faz subir o astral de qualquer um. Que seja reconhecido pelo seu trabalho. Comida caseira de excelente confecção, com preços extraordinariamente acessíveis. O espaço é simples, mas acolhedor. A comida e o atendimento valem por tudo. Se procuram algo sofisticado e pratos diferentes,não venham aqui. Se procuram comida caseira, tradicional , profissionalismo, boa disposição e preços acessíveis, então é o sítio perfeito.

Sehr gute und ehrliche Küche in einfachem Restaurant ohne viel Gedöns. Angemessene Preise der Gerichte als auch Getränke, insbesondere Flaschenwein. Absolut zu empfehlen. Es waren einige Portugiesen zum Essen dort, was für uns ein gutes Zeichen war.
