SurfMilfontes - Surf School in Vila Nova de Milfontes

What a pleasant surprise this turned out to be! I wasn’t expecting to surf, but a recommendation came to and I thought ‘what the hell!’. My husband and I live on Vancouver Island with some of the best surfing in the world and used to heavy boards and freezing waters so experiencing warmer, crystal clear water on a breathtaking beach was as a dream. Our instructor was Eric and he was fabulous! Lots of laughs and great memories made! I am so glad we did this

This school is awesome, the instructors (shout out to Eric!) are very patient, great at explaining how everything works and able to tailor the lessons to your individual level. My wife and I went for one lesson and were hooked and had to come back for 4 more. They had access to a couple different beaches and we were able to start of in gentle white water before trying more challenging green waves.

If you're a first timer looking to catch your first wave or someone who knows a little but wants to improve their surfing I am sure you'd benefit from the lessons here. The beaches in Vila Nova are also just amazing, rock and shark free, not very packed, and incredible to experience in person.

Also as a logistical plus if you are in town and can't get to the beach since you came on the bus like us, they will transport you to and from the beach. Just make sure you're flexible with your time as the waves only come based on the tides of the river.

Very professional surfschool, surf instructors were enthusiastic with each student who caught the waves!! Very nice atmosphere, highly recommendable.

It was the first time for me and my boyfriend. We'd both never being surfing before. This was the most beautiful and amazing experience we could do in Portugal. Our teachers have been so helpful in teaching to the whole group how to approach this new sport. They dedicated the right time to each of US in order to let us appreciate surfing our first waves!

I had 4 absolute beginners lessons in November 2023. The lessons were a lot of fun and got me hooked with surfing for sure :) The teachers were kind, motivating and enthusiastic. The communication was always perfect. They picked me up at the school and gave me a ride to the beach. The classes were small, and when we were 8 people they even came with two teachers. I really appreciated to have a small number of students per teacher - I think it is safer and more effective to learn that way.

I had a couple of surf lessons with Miguel in a group and again 1-1. He was really encouraging, knowledgeable not just about surfing but also how to read the waves and the tides and he helped me to concentrate on improving a couple of key skills each lesson. Our last session together was the most successful surf session I’ve ever had!
It helps that the surroundings are beautiful too! I would highly recommend Miguel and SurfMilfontes.

I am an absolute beginner and I took a few lessons, day 3 I was on the board and took my first waves. Passionate Instructors with the heart in the right place. Surfing the good wave of life!

I had an amazing experience with this surf class! The instructors were fantastic and had a great way of explaining the techniques. Not only did we learn a lot, but we also had a blast in the process. We had a wonderful experience on the waves with Antonio! It was the first time we tried surfing and Antonio was a great teacher, introducing us to all the important things to know and to do out and in the water. By the end of the lesson we had both the experience of "riding a wave"... more or less! We had fun and it was definitely worth it! Thanks again to all the team!

Amazing team! It was my first time surfing and it felt safe, fun and professional. I ended up taking several lessons during my stay and and the whole experience was very smooth. Highly recommend this team, they are the nicest and will make sure you enjoy your time surfing in Portugal!

The surf instructors at SurfMilfontes, who are not only really good at surfing themself are great at teaching it. They're also a great bunch and easy to get on with witch make you feel really welcome. Good surf, nice people best place to learn, We will be back for sure!
