Lago Artes by Hugo do Lago

I highly highly recommend booking an experience to paint watercolors with Hugo! He is simply so inviting into his art studio! He was a great storyteller and a native of Porto. I loved the details of this class and the knowledge he shared with my group. Book now, you won’t regret it! And do check out his personal art for sale!

My partner and I visited Hugo in his studio on our last day in Portugal, and it was magical. The studio was quant, located on a charming street, and we found him at his desk, painting away, and invited us in where we got to observe him and ask questions. He allowed us to view his space, and the studio downstairs that was set up for a class later that day.
His work is quintessential Porto or Portugal, with beautiful color pallets, incredible details and smart compositions. We left with a few paintings, one which was from one of his students! It's incredible he is sharing his talents and passions for the local and international community! Very warm, welcoming, talented and worth the trip in!

Hugo’s class was incredibly fun, restful, and fulfilling. So glad I stumbled into his studio. Watercolor is a difficult but fun medium and he was able to teach it so well. Don’t miss it! It is such a special and unique experience and Hugo is a real gem. So thankful he shares his passion with others like myself. I’m inspired.

We experienced a watercolor workshop by Hugo in his lovely atelier. There’s no words to describe it properly, just an incredible experience, so relaxing and rewarding at the same time! Hugo radiates care, kindness and joy and puts everyone at ease, even the less experienced painters in the room. Just delightful! We will surely be back when we return!

One of the best ‘must do’ experience when in Porto. I met this couple last year for the first time, and loved my painting experience so much, that I booked another holiday to Porto this year, with two days of painting with Hugo do Lago.

The ‘Paint & Port wine’ experience is amazing with a selection of locally made finger food, and selection of Port wines.
However, also loved the Watercolour guided painting session, as it helped me to get over my fear of not controlling the paint medium. :)

Highly recommend this experience for amy skill level. Hugo is amazing at patiently guiding through the process, and Silvia adds the charm to the experience, sharing their life stories. I’ve come back with great pieces of art that I’m happy and proud to hang up as a memory from my trip to Porto! :)

Stopped into store to purchase a painting. After talking with the lovely owners we realized they were holding a painting class the next day and decided to join. It ended up being a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Not only are Hugo and Silvia the nicest people but the class was very reasonably priced. Hugo was able to make it look like we had actual artistic abilities!!

We had a wonderful painting class with Hugo whilst in Porto - Hugo is an very skilled artist and patient teacher, who clearly loves sharing his art and his joy. It's a must-do in Porto, as in each class, you paint a scene typical for Porto, so it's a wonderful souvenir to bring home. We also bought a painting of Hugo's, as he is insanely gifting. Thank you Hugo, we'll be back!

A tiny but lovely a d charming gallery. Hugo is such a great guy, offers 2hour classes that our daughter took. Very happy to take a piece of art created by herself.

Hugo's art is incredible and his watercolour workshop was amazing. It's the best experience in Porto by far! Art, nice environment and a friend for life.

I took the watercolor class and it was such a fantastic experience!! Hugo is a terrific host and teacher. The studio is on a crooked little street just behind the cathedral and it is filled with gorgeous little paintings of the city.
I had been wanting to try something artistic but was totally intimidated. Hugo made this as easy as could be with a pre-(lightly) sketched scene of the Ponte Luis. He will teach you how to mix the colors and pick out which shades are present in the photo. It was the perfect mix of guidance so you don’t get lost, but you also feel as though it’s your own creation at the end. As far as souvenirs go, this is the best one I’ve ever had.
I highly recommend and will be back for sure.

My family of four visited Porto from the United States. We had known for a while that we wanted to take an art class as a family, and we're so happy we ended up choosing a water color painting class with Hugo.

There really are no words to adequately describe how wonderful of an experience it was for all four of us. Our kids are 8 years old and not much can hold their attention for long, but they were captivated from the first moment and both of them absolutely loved the entire experience, as did me and my wife.

Hugo and his wife Silvia could not have been more inviting, patient and kind. If we are ever back in Porto, we will be sure to stop by and visit our new friends. We can't recommend Lago Artes by Hugo do Lago highly enough... 5+ Stars!

Hugo and Silvia are both such lovely people and made this watercolour experience so much fun! The material quality was superb and I learnt a lot in the process :) thanks for everything, will do a class again when I'm back in porto :)

Had the most magical afternoon with Hugo and Silvia. They are the most wonderful people and their Airbnb painting experience was one of the big highlights of our trip. Highly recommend!

He tries hard to bring out any artistic talent. Port and snacks are provided although it is hard to drink and eat much while attempting to complete the painting. In practice he will help you with the more intricate parts of the painting. He and his wife are very nice and helpful.

In addition to showcasing some beautiful art and having helpful art classes, the faculty was extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place to visit when in Porto!

Loja de artistas pintores onde também se podem emoldurar as proprias obras aí compradas como as suas próprias, pessoas extremamente simpáticas e agradaveis com muitos e belos trabalhos seus, feitos na própria loja. Mandei emoldurar um azulejo pintado à mão, e fiquei muito satisfeito com o trabalho por tudo isto recomendo.
