Food tastes home made, high quality (and not fancy). Portions generous, staff is very friendly. A glass of wine is probably close to half a liter :-) Azorean wines from Pico are a bit on the expensive side, but only compared to imported stuff. Overall very good value for money.

Ok, it looks simple, yet wood fire stove and ovens makes your lunch and dinner a dream!
But there’s truly one dish that matters: Cataplana de Mariano. Like your grandma
Or mom would cook it, but won’t give you the true recipe of. (By the time you read this is still might be licking the plate, and sorry for delimbing the crab and it’s relatives)

Nice place for lunch! Apparently we were lucky in that the restaurant is usually fully booked. Food was good but a bit slow—maybe because we arrived just a bit before they close for midday break.

Best dinner experience during our 7 night stay on Sao Jorge. There is a nice choice on the menu and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We went back after our first visit and can recommend both the fish (octopus, prawns, fish of the day) and meat (fried rabbit, meats from Sao Jorge).

Great dining experience, at 9 pm.. very friendly staff, all enjoyed their food... affordable and worth the trip!

Wow! Those fresh clams and shrimp were memorable. Worth the extra $$. It’s such a charming place. Visited in June. You can peek into the kitchen from where you dine and the ladies back there REALLY know how to cook! It was exceptional so we had to go back again..ok and one more time after that ☺ - and how about that view as you walk out of the restaurant 😍 Picoooooo

Amêijoas (clams) were a bit pricy but the best I honestly ever had - super meaty and big, amazing sauce. Probably comes from the local production on the island.

We also had the bife da casa (house steak) which was one of the best I’ve had in Portugal. Great service and ambience. ❤

Had one of the best tasting octopus ever, perfectly seared on the charcoal. Very fresh and very very good. Absolutely loved it.

A veritable feast of local dishes was supplied for a large group. They had gone out of their way to provide a range of well cooked and presented dishes. Local wines are also very reasonable priced.

Must try in São Jorge. Good food, many options. Friendly people. Recommend
