Excellent food stop! We had a Pizza Jorgense, sautéed vegetables and a bottle house red wine. All of it was amazing. Our server was really friendly and spoke very good English - he explained all the Chef's specials and answered a couple of questions we had. Highly recommended!

We first didn‘t go to this place because of the bad reviews. As we went anyway, we totally don‘t understand the bad comments anymore. The Pizza was super nice (the small pizza is already enough for one person and costs 10 Euros), you can even add cheese in the pizza edges which is super fulling ;) the cheese garlic bread is also amazing!
The service was very friendly and everything was served fast like nowhere before on our stay on the Azores 😁

Cosy restaurant in the tiny square next to a beautiful church. The food was great, we eat drunk shrimps and mussels. The portion is good, everything was tasty, it has a good atmosphere. Recommend it.

Don't let the outer appearance of this place fool you. It is a very good restaurant with good prices and even better dishes!

Sao Jorge is known for its cheese and the octopus and both can be tasted here.
The desserts are very good too!
The only bad detail is there weren't using the A/C when I went!

Incredible meat and fish dishes. The fillet steak was absolutely amazing, soft as butter and cooked to perfection. Starters such as the cheese platter and sides were also very tasty, there was a wide range of desserts and lots of nice wines to choose from. We ended up going back for lunch too.

We’been in this restaurant more than once. Here we ate the best fish of the Azores!
The fish soup is fantastic, as the octopus and the tuna. Waiters are very kind and willing, the place is nice. We strongly recommend it. Value for money.

I'm vegetarian and I always struggle to have a good meal in Azores but here I managed to find different options and they even prep something just for me one day. I ended up having dinner 4 days in a row here and each day I ate something delicious and different! Highly recommended. The staff is also very very nice :)

This restaurant serves an amazing steak with fries.
They have their desserts on display near the bar, we went for the cookie cream.

Being on a boat this restaurant is near the harbour and handy. Great place, catering to local and tourists alike. Very nice food, large portions, friendly people. The house wine is cheap and very decent.

Kind and humble service. As vegetarian wasnt sure about waiter suggestion(always bar experience with risoto), but took the risk. No regrets.

The jorgense pizza was amazing. I never thought of putting questions sao jorge on pizza but it's the best pizza I've ever had.

Friendly staff and good quality food. The bife vasia and filet mignon contained practically half the cow. We were "regulars" during our stay in Velas, and although the place tended to be fully booked (and we never reserved), we always somehow got seated

Nice and tasty food,
with fast service... Would recommend... I was there with a vegetarian and he was also plesently surprised.

We went here based on a previous review, and we're not disappointed. The soup was full of tender limpets, giant prawn, tasty drowned cornbread croutons, and more flavor than seems possible. Yummmm! A bowl of soup, with a side of garlic shrimp (the same giant prawns swimming in a broth of olive oil and stock, spiked with whole garlic cloves) and an order of garlic flatbread to share was a completely satisfying meal. Add a bottle of our favorite Terras da Lava white wine, and it was a feast. Friendly, competent service and a nice view of the harbor rounded out a great experience.

Historic restaurant/cafe in São Jorge. Went there one evening for deserts and one morning for breakfast. All was great and tasted good. Service was fast, waiters kind and friendly and prices affordable. Recommend.

It is a great place to eat. The terrace is nice, but u need to be aware of the Church clock 😅. We tried several dishes and everything tasted very well and we never left this place hungry.
