O Charneco

Fantastic experience - a family run restaurant by multiple generations which serves traditional dishes in a lovely atmosphere. You get 5 starters, 2 mains and desserts with drinks included. These were some of the best dishes that we had in the Algarve!

Our best meal in Portugal. The service was friendly, kind, and attentive. Very typical Algarve dishes made of simple, fresh and local ingredients.

We felt right at home at O Charneco! The food was incredible, a very authentic experience, and the service was impeccable! I’d highly recommend folks to visit to get a taste of Algarvian cuisine. We hope to return again some day.

Amazing amazing amazing. We got there right as they opened (dinner only) and it felt like we were eating at a friend’s house. The food is a mix of seafood and meats, home cooked meals. We could see the kitchen from our seats. 35 euros per person for a fixed price menu including 5 starters, 2 mains, dessert, coffee, basically unlimited wine/beer/water/juice. Words cannot explain how amazing the dining experience is, you’ll just have to go and see.

This is a classic, family-operated restaurant specializing in local cuisine. They exclusively provide fixed menus that include beverages. While the food didn't quite align with our preferences, the service was exceptional, and the overall experience was distinctive and memorable.

Authentic Algarve style restaurant run that has been run by a family for over 40 years. The family still cook and serve the food. You pay €35 pp for 4 starters, 2 mains, a dessert, and as much house red/white wine or water as you like. The food was delicious and the service was very good - almost a must visit if you are in the Algarve.

Note that it is in quite a residential area with no carpark, so you have to squeeze somewhere in the windy roads. Also, they only take Portuguese cards, so make sure you take cash.

Great little place providing typical native Algarve food. Set menu of 5 starters, 2 main, wine, pudding and coffee. Good value and nice to try local food from a family dedicated to this.

We visited Estombar last night to find this gem of a restaurant. Only a 10 minute drive out of Carvoeiro. 7 courses of fresh, authentic algarvian food served by generations of the Cherneco family. No menu - just what's fresh on the day. Wine, beer, coffee is all included in the 35 euro per person price!! If you want to try authentic food from the region then it's worth making a trip to this place. Our best meal of the holiday. We'll be back!

We had the greatest dinner at this restaurant!
We got served a 7 course menu that consisted of different kinds of fish, cheese, meat, clams and deserts!
Unfortunately the food looked to good so we ate it all and forgot to take pictures.
To sum it up, great local food, really nice ambience and friendly staff. Also the way the courses were presented have been really nice.

A great night out! They have one set menu with 5 starter courses, two mains, and a dessert course. It leans heavily on seafood.

Everything was delicious with octopus, sting ray croquettes, sea bass soup, and roast pork among the dishes prepared for you. Wine is included in the price. Although I generally don't favour seafood, it was really tasty and encourage the hesitant to give it a try.

I am not sure if the menu changes ever, but the selection was great and was almost exactly what is pictured here.

We stumbled across this charming restaurant while staying at the wine estate nearby. We were blown away by both the food and service. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and we thoroughly enjoyed every single thing we were served. If you’re in the area, it’s a must try.

Family owned restaurant with a rich history. Had the opportunity to taste the local cuisine and everyday life as the restaurant is located next to the local football club/community centre. As another reviewer mentioned: it felt like having dinner at a friend’s place instead of restaurant/customer. No menu stress, potluck, seafood and meat, seven courses, €35 pp including beer/wine, loved it. We were served by the grandson of Charneco: welcoming, attentive and kind. Our only regret is that we found this little gem on the last day of our trip.

Cozy, cute place run by a family. The menu is fixed, which spares you time and energy to pick the best meal. You try different dishes, this way you explore more amazing traditional food. Everything was extremely tasty and we will definitely be back!

Incredible value for the price, wine + 7 courses and 3 desserts for €30 euros. Leans more toward seafood dishes and local flavors.

We had a fantastic experience at O Charneco from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious and felt very local. The service was incredible and it felt like eating at an old friend’s house. The waiters can also speak English (and knew the name of the dishes in French) which was very helpful. Also very good value for money. Couldn’t recommend more!
