Inlingua Porto

Studying Portuguese with Inlingua in Porto has been a really great experience and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. There is a really friendly atmosphere in the school, everyone including the office staff went out of their way to be helpful. I was at the school for 2 weeks in January 2020 on the intensive 1:1 course. The tutors were very experienced and just knew when I understood and when I needed extra time. My lessons were a good balance of reading and writing, speaking and listening. They tried to get me to speak as much as possible, and all students were gently encouraged to talk Portuguese to each other in the breaks. I think I learnt most effectively when speaking and playing games. Outside of the classroom we had the opportunity on Tuesdays to go out for meal at lunchtime with the staff and other students. This was great fun. We also were given the chance to visit an attraction if we wanted to. I went to the wine cellars on the first week, and the Palácio de Cristal on the second. I'd love to come back one day.

I went for two weeks in the summer of 2023 for immersive morning and afternoon instruction. I've been travailing to Portugal most of my life and always felt bad I couldn't speak to my relatives that only spoke Portuguese. In my life I've downloaded many apps to do work daily on my Portuguese but never really made much progress in way of speaking it. After my two weeks of intensive in-class course work I now feel I have a far greater foundation to build upon. The professors are very professional, friendly and very diligent. I have deleted those daily apps as I can see they led me down (through assumption) some incorrect paths. I now have some other resources that will let me work on my Portuguese and perhaps I should return to Inlingua in the future to work on my fluency and annunciation.

I was assigned to an intensive course of Portuguese. Within 5 weeks of daily lessons I was able to communicate in Portugal with locals on a basic matters! Amazing
I loved the teaching approach, the range of topics covered and a good vibe :)
I'm planning to continue with online lessons at some point.

Thank you to the dream team at Inlingua Porto. Learning a new language takes hard work and is time intensive. The teaching team at Inlingua partnered with me to make my journey a successful one. I achieved my goal of passing my A2 level Portuguese exam with very limited time. I could not have achieved this without the exceptional teaching input I received at the school and the tried and tested teaching methods used. Attending in person classes with other students was fun and super helpful. The admin team are efficient, friendly and very organised. I attended my 2nd 2-week Portuguese course at Inlingua & can only say that I’m super impressed by the school’s professionalism. The management & administration are super efficient, the teachers very supportive and experienced. Everyone goes out of their way to make students feel comfortable and well looked after. Quality is the school’s mantra & I found that everyone ‘lives’ it. Congratulations to the entire team - you made both of my courses memorable. I learned a lot & will return.

I took 4 weeks of Portuguese classes here in April/May and my teacher was Ms. Ilda...she was so nice and always explained things in detailed if we ever had questions. We practiced speaking/writing/listening/reading and my comprehension and ability to do all of those improved SO much during my time here. The whole staff at the school are very welcoming, encourage you to always try and speak Portuguese and you will be sure to learn a lot while you are here as well. I will hopefully be back next time I am in Portugal to keep improving even more!

I would highly recommend anyone wanting to learn Portuguese to attend Inlingua. After spending almost two months there I have profoundly improved my Portuguese thanks to the help of Inlingua’s many competent and pleasant teachers.

I got the pleasure of experiencing both group and private lessons. Inlingua does a great job matching students at the same level, while at the same time making the lessons both interesting and challenging.

The administration is very helpful and the after-class activities varied.

All in all it was a great experience and I’ll surely come back if I ever get the chance in the future.

What a fantastic team! It was a pleasure and a fantastic experience learning with Alex and all of the team at Inlingua. From day one I was made to feel comfortable and enjoyed the experience of language learning. Also during these difficult times the environment was regularly made safe and clean and all staff and students understood the guidance around hygiene and distancing during and around lessons, which was also great for me. Plenty of opportunities to connect with the other students as well which was also great. I look forward to returning to the school and continuing my language learning soon.

I have been studying full-time with Inlingua for the last 6 weeks and have been very impressed by the quality of teaching, the variety and standard of materials used, and the professionalism and helpfulness of the administration. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking to learn Portuguese at any level.

Had a great experience at Inlingua. A very flexible, professional and inviting learning space for those who wish to improve their language skills. The entire teaching staff and administrators were very friendly, encouraging and above all very good at their respective jobs. I felt fully immersed and engaged in the learning process, and equally as important I gained key insights into the daily life and city culture of Porto. A phenomenal lens through which to see that city. I fully recommend anyone who is interested in taking a “language holiday” or wish to develop their language skills for the professional world to plan a trip to Porto and to take lessons at Inlingua. Excellent instructions in a fantastic atmosphere. Their instructional materials were also well-chosen and tailored for the individual. I felt at home at their location. Their out-of-school activities were also well-worth it and helped integrate me into the Portuguese culture.

My time at Inligua Porto was fabulous. I have never had such a good language school experience, having studied in France and Spain as well. I think the difference for me is that this school feels personal. They really want to get you going and help you to talk, rather than getting stuck in rights and wrongs & correcting written grammar exercises!

Alex, who runs the school sets the tone- upbeat, engaging and friendly. It feels more like a little language community than a school. Carla at the front desk is so friendly! All the staff are really cool and make you feel at ease from the get go. The teaching was excellent- fun, clear & conversational. Thanks Inligua and all my lovely teachers for a great (4 week) intro to Portuguese!

I am a teacher who has been to many different language schools and this one is definitely one of the best! Not only were all the teachers excellent and dynamic (I felt their pacing was great and they really cater to your level/needs), it is a school with a very pleasant atmosphere. Everyone cares about you developing your language skills and enjoying the learning experience as much as you can.
I hope to be able to study here again and if not, in a school with a similar standard.

During my 3 week-experience (combi-mix 1) in Porto I was very impressed with the quality of the school and the competence of the staff. The professors engage greatly with the students and progress is fast. The secretaries are very helpful, and the organisation great. I highly recommend making use if the option of staying with a guest family, as it helps immensely in improving conversational skills. All in all a great experience and will definitely repeat at a later point in time!

Thanks to Inlingua, I went from zero to sixty with my Portuguese. Having arrived with no prior training, I learned how to speak Portuguese at an intermediate level in six weeks. The faculty were warm, welcoming, and highly effective — as were the staff who made every effort to incorporate my feedback into scheduling and desired coursework. A fantastic experience that I would highly recommend!

I had a great time in Inlingua :) It s a very good school and I could improve my knowledge in portuguese a lot. The teachers are all very nice, the classes are well structured and organized. The school offers activities in the afternoon, which makes it easy to get in touch with students from other classes. I do definitely recommend the school Inlingua :)

Over the years I returned quite a few times to gradually improve my Portuguese and it was a pleasure to do so. The group of teachers is very good and highly motivated and the staff very helpful. The small group approach works great for me as you learn together with other people without disappearing in a big class group. The location is very handy, in the centre, and close to Trindade station if you need to come from a bit further.
I have been there three times now and will happily return again as with each burst of 2-3 weeks of classes I feel I made another big leap forward.

I moved to Portugal last year not knowing a word of Portuguese and came to study here. This school was recommended by one of the school board directors for northern Portugal as being one of the best for languages! In my personal experience I learnt a lot while enjoying the overall experience, they have amazing staff and teachers! Thank you Inlingua for everything!

What you get at this centrally located extremely competent institution is customized support at all levels - language, culture, pastime, conversation ... I will always remember Porto and especially Inlingua Porto. Many thanks to the whole team, you were wonderful!

I went to this school in July 2019 for a one week intensive individual course in portuguese for beginners (Crash Intensive Programme, CIP). The staff was very welcoming, prepared and nice throughout the week. I even had some mail conversation before getting to the school and the staff responded fast, personalised and very accurate. The school itself is situated in a lovely building in the very city centre close to public transportation and a with a lot of affordable cafés and restaurants as well as plenty of stores in the absolute vincinity. The premises was nice and clean and there were common rooms for teachers and students to meet in a relaxed way. All the classrooms I went to had aircondition and were accurately equiped. Maybe I missed some technical devices like a projector to show powerpoints. The absolute best thing with this school though was (as it should be in a language school) the teachers. I had two different teachers during the week and it was obvious that they kept good track of each others work. Both were very professional, kind and flexible which meant that they could adjust to my personal level of knowledge in a smooth way. All in all I'm totally happy with my week and I will most probably come back next year to continue my studies. It was money well spent, and I can recommend this school from the experience I had.
