Salkantay Hostels

Had a great one night stay here while hiking the Salkantay Trek. It was so nice to arrive to a warm shower and comfortable bed after a serious hiking day. The food was great and the setting is beautiful and relaxing.

We especially appreciated a trail update from our hosts for the next day!

This place is an absolute gem. Don’t let the name hostel fool you. The rooms are beautifully crafted and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom and room are very clean, hot showers, and shower has a view of the valley and a rain shower. We had a private bedroom with the most beautiful view. Breakfast and dinner is traditional Peruvian and absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are hearty (big size) and perfect after a day of hiking.

Manual himself is the kindest and most hospitable host you can ask for. He makes the meals (restaurant quality) and spent a some time telling us about the route for our upcoming day. He makes you feel very cared for and is a wealth of information about the region.
This place is an absolute must stay and is such a highlight.

Salkantay Hostel is a great place to stay, Manuel is very attentive and helped us out with planning our hikes for the next few days. The Rooms are very specious with a hot shower, which was needed after a long day of hiking through the rain. The food was plenty and very delicious. I would definitely stay here again.

The family and Manuel were great, we had hot showers (which is exactly what you need after that hiking day) and a great dinner. Also, the breakfast was nice and we got hot tea and chocolate. Thanks to Manuel and his family!

An absolutely great place to stay on your second day of the Salkantay Trek. Manuel is a great host, he gives you great advice for the trek and offers amazing service. Also the food is amazing. Book the hostel via WhatsApp, you will save some money and make the host happy. :)

The hosts were very helpful when my boyfriend got sick! The rooms are awesome and very nicely furnished (with hot shower and towels). Breakfast and dinner were very good. All in all an awesome experience!

The dinner and breakfast were amazing. Definitely gave us a major mood boost in the middle of the salkentay trek.
The rooms are okay, not too lavish but it's great for when you're hiking. A hot shower and a nice bed is all you need after a long day of hiking.

After a long day of hiking, this place was total magic! Even if we hadn’t been walking the whole day this would have been a total gem. Rooms are clean, have cute and tasteful art that is representative of the local area. WiFi was good, shower had good pressure but for me could have been way hotter- was pretty warm but I like my showers burning hot. Still amazing after a long day. Comfortable and warm bed. The food was incredible! A really yummy dinner of sautéed veggies, chicken & rice & potatoes (price not included in stay but very cheap). Options to buy a lunch / snacks which we did (and some cold beer) for about 10 soles for lunch. Very very nice hosts who gave us lots of information about the next days trek & called ahead to a hostel for us in the next town we’d be staying in to make sure we had a place to stay (that hostel was Salkantay hostel Freddy & esters / leas in lucmabamba - 10/10). We were overall very glad we booked this hostel especially so we didn’t have to worry about lodging after our second day on the salkantay trek! Thank you Manuel & family!

We had a lovely stay with Manuel at his hostel, he was very welcoming and helpful. Dinner was delicious, complete with home grown potatoes! The room was really nice and had a lot of thought put into it to make it a really comfortable experience.

Super hostel, nicely located with a beautiful view ! The rooms are very nice with personal shower and bathroom, which was unexpected during the Salkantay trek. Other than that, the owner Manuel is an excellent cook with a lot of stories to tell !

We got an amazing dinner, breakfast and room for a reasonable price. Manuel was super friendly offering us different options. He is currently still extending and improving his offer and was super open to receive feedback.

As the hostel houses mostly individual guests and not groups, I think the Sankey hostel could gain the most traction by advertising the Sankey trail for solo travelers.

Best hostal to stay on the Salkantay! Manuel is the best host he even organised a cake for our friends birthday! Rooms or clean and very spacious!

Perfect hostel when you're on the Salkantay Trek! You'll have everything you need after hiking - hot shower, good food, comfortable bed, wifi, cold drinks... Manuel was very nice and helpful and explained the next day's hike to us!

It was wonderful!
We arrived there after the first day of the Salkantay Trek and we had everything we needed.

The hostel was beautiful. The rooms are being renewed and the walls are full of awesome sculptures showing symbols of the Peruvian and Incan cultures.
We had a big double bed, a private toilet and hot shower (which was included in the price and felt like heaven!).
The room had a big window with views to the valley.

The food was also excellent! The dinner consisted of a soup with vegetables and noodles, and rice with meat and some sautéed vegetables. And, of course, some tea to warm you up!
The breakfast was hot chocolate, tea, bread, jam, and either omelette or scrambled eggs.

The owner, Manuel, is a kind and welcoming person who paid attention to every detail. Also, after dinner we had an enriching conversation that gave us a new perspective of the country, the town and his personal experience creating his project.

Charming accomodation on the half way to Machu Picchu. Furthermore, it provides hot water and Wi-Fi , which are a ‘luxury’ for places like Chaullay.
Friendly owner and staff are very helpful.
Definitely worth it to stay here.

Had a very nice stay at Manuel’s place! The food was delicious and we slept very well after a long day of hiking!

The hospitality was amazing the food was delicious and the hostel manager was a kind nice helpful man that kept asking if everything is ok and great. The view was phenomenal waking up to and its the best value for money you can get in the whole area ! Would come again!!

We loved our stay here, cosy double room with clean bathroom. Staff very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Great meals and big portion size after a day of hiking! Very good price!
