Was my second time. Started the hike at 7am. Was up there at 8.20am. Slow but steady pace. All stairs up to the top. If you are interested in landscape and great views, that's the one to go for. All the way to the top you get great views. I highly recommend that one. You see Machu Picchu with all the mountains surrounded. We got up there first and were by ourselves for at least 30min. Was amazing.

You have to make it to the top. Amazing

Machu Picchu, the crown jewel of the Inca Empire, sits majestically atop the Andes. This ancient citadel captivates with its mystical aura and breathtaking architecture. Wander through terraced fields and sacred temples, each stone whispering tales of a bygone era. The panoramic views of the surrounding mountains add to the site's allure. Machu Picchu is a testament to Incan ingenuity and spirituality, a pilgrimage for those seeking both historical marvels and natural splendor. Uncover the mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage site, where the past seamlessly merges with the spectacular present.

Buy tickets in advance. The hike is tough, they say average fitness is all that is needed but it is a tough hike and narrow at the top. The views are incredible!! Wow. At several places on the hike up there are incredible views of the citadel and the views from the top are incredible 360° around the Andes mountains and Machu Picchu. Well worth the effort to hike up

A beautiful but sweaty hike to the top of the mountain! 2500+ stairs that took us around 1h20mins to get here.
Totaly worth it for the amazing birds eye view of Machu Picchu.
Small hut at the top that provides some shade/shelter and if you start at 7 it's really calm at the top!

It's a long walk to the top. It feels like a million stairs. However, if you reach the top, and you are lucky. You will have an amazing view. Sadly, we didn't, but it was still a nice hike, though nature.

By accident we have booked a trip to Machu Picchu Mountain.
Unexpectedly we were let in 5 minutes before opening - that was stressful because we were not menthaly prepared. We were surprised that the stairs were not according to DIN 18065.
However, we made it up to the top and now we feel fitter than ever ;-)

Overall it was a really nice hike. With unforgettable and breath taking views into a foggy nothing. :D

Nevertheless, we enjoyed it and had nice time.
Don't forget to use sunscreen even in foggy conditions!!

Tip besides: no horses or dunkeys to bring you up.

360 degree views of some of the most stunning mountains in the world. Its a tough hike to the top that takes about 90 minutes at a reasonable pace. You need to sign in and sign out at the checkpoint at the beginning and you need to make sure you arrive at this checkpoint before your ticketed time window expires. There are no further checks after this point, so you can take as long as needed and then explore the rest of Machu Picchu when you descend. My recommendation is to take pictures on the way up and also on the way down as the sun and clouds change throughout the day providing some good opportunities to get pictures of Machu Picchu and the valleys in different conditions. Make sure you take lots of water and also some food as there is absolutely nothing to buy on the way and you'll appreciate a snack after finally getting to the top.

I was there in 2016. It's an experience that any normal person is capable of doing, and the reward is awesome: a view which will remain in your memory forever! Hiking is not easy, as the steps are more... but definitely worth it! You must have a bottle of water and a t-shirt to change😉

Endless stairs to the top.
Super view at the summit.
Never waste your life for Instagram at the edge of the cliff; cleaning crew will curse you to hell.
Smirk to hear others blare at the fake summit on descend.
I got tired of seeing stairs at the pueblo.

Very challenging hike if you are not in good shape. Be prepared for a ton of stairs, but the views are pretty incredible

Awesome climb that took about an hour and a half. Fantastic views all along the hike. But, it is quite steep and can be narrow. My legs are definitely sore but it was worth it for the amazing view.

A though climb up: 455 meters altitude, on steep steps what makes it a dangerous climb as well. But at the top you will have amazing views that is why it is definitely worth it.

A bit of a challenging climb for the average person. As a 30 some year old who doesn't regularly workout, it took 2 hours to reach the summit and another hour and a half to descend.

The hike is 95% stairs with very steep stone steps but is wide enough that others can pass you safely, meaning you can stop and take your time without worrying about inconveniencing others.

The summit is absolutely breathtaking, offering a 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains, as well as Machu Picchu itself.

I highly recommend arriving at the entry checkpoint as early as possible as the summit is not a large space and can get a little crowded the later it gets.

Its very hard hike, it's not a hike sensu stricto it is just thousands of oversized stairs up the hill. Resonable time for fifty something is not 2 h. It took us 4h to rich the top. Vistas are amazing if the wheather cooperate. We were lucky. See the photos. It took us 1.5 h to get to the shuttle stop. And boy I was glad we did not have to hike down as some hard-core hikers do. From two hikes, I am partial to Huaynapichu. Its an easier hike. Just bring your gloves. We saw people with Nordic poles. Those are illegal but...
