Albert Heijn To Go

The Albert Heijn in Amsterdam Central Station is a great supermarket that is very conveniently placed inside right next to the train station so you can get high-quality products ready for the train. I thought the food here was good and I especially loved the freshly squeezed orange juice you get here where you get a cup of your choice put it in the machine and press the green button and in front of you the machine will slice and juice the oranges until you press stop and the juice pours directly into your cup. It's always so fresh and sweet which is why I love going to this shop.

The supermarket is located inside the Amsterdam Central building.

Quick, convenient, and clean! Lots of food, drinks, snacks, pastries, etc. We picked up drinks and were in and out.

Conveniently located inside the Amsterdam Centraal, it's a quick stop shopping. It's so easy to grab and pay for your purchases. There are several self-checkout cash registers by the door. However, there's a person behind the counter if you want to pay that way. I love their gourmet breads and bottled juices. They even have sushi to-go. There are fruits and bottled water near the entrance that makes it easy to get going. I love shopping here.

Great variety of grab and go food and drinks. They have a lot of salads and some meals, also croissants, little breads and other breakfast options and you can make yourself coffee. You can quickly go through the self-checkout. They have the square paper bags here only. Don't expect to find here the larger blue bags from non-'To Go' AH locations. Expect higher prices too because it's at the station.

Anything u need in Schiphol go here fitst.. not airport inflated prices but street normal prices.

Great option by the central station to get drinks or snacks. It is also opened until late. There are no other supermarkets in the area.

Great grocery store. Variety of foods, drinks, and snacks. You can find most of what you need in it for the go. Excellent place.

Helpful staff that speak English very well. Clean efficient store that has most of your needs for eating. Beer and wine too. More of a meal to go spot than a typical American full service convenience store.

Busy, but has a great selection for snacks and food to take on the train. Also has some nice dutch food gifts such as stroopwafel and dutch cheese.

This 'AH To Go' is the convenience store formula from the national supermarket giant "Albert Heijn" that you can find at stations, airports and other busy locations. This particular store at Amsterdam Central Station at the back by the river IJ in the 'IJ hall' (and yes, IJ is regarded to be one letter of the Dutch alphabet and therefor both letters are written with a capital) is one of the larger ones and I thought by myself "They are always so friendly there and everything is clean and there is a very good assortment - why not give them the 5 stars they deserve?" You might have guessed it by now what my rating is and why.

Little trivia from Wikipedia: "Albert Heijn" also opened as a joint venture the first McDonald's in the Netherlands in Zaandam and though they did not invent bar codes on products they did make sure that this is did not become a propitiatory system but the scanner at any supermarket (also from competitors) would be able to identify the product correctly ( e.g. at the Jumbo supermarket, Deen, Spar and Dirk van den Broek whose roots go back to Mercatorplein in Amsterdam).

Although small, this place had a good selection.
