Small museum but is interactive and you get a complete history of diamond making, different cities involved in diamond trade. May take 2 hours overall. The souvenir shop at the end is having interesting collection of items (not diamonds though). Interesting fact was only 5% of diamonds are used for jewellery and the remaining 95% is for industrial use. Free with museum card.

Fairly small museum in Amsterdam’s Museumplein. It’s really interesting and for a small museum, it’s very well thought out and organized.
Beautiful things to see and learn, definitely recommend !

Intriguing museum charting the history of Amsterdam's love affair with the toughest stone on planet earth. We were saddened to learn that after the Jewish Dutch population were exterminated during WW2, the diamond market was significantly diminished and has failed to fully recover since. I was a little dismayed to discover that many of the diamonds and jewellery on display were replicas. Also, be aware that they try to entice you next door to the production area which is basically one giant marketing exercise and forces you to walk through several of their shops and sales people in order to exit!

Entry ticket of 10Euros and free for Museumkart. Take appointment. Nice souvenirs and collections of watches in shop for visitors to buy. Huge collections of various diamonds. Worlds smallest diamond, Golden Racket, Crowns of Napolean, Russian, British, African, Thai , Japanese Sword and Skull made this museum worthless. Photography allowed.

What a beautiful place! Eventhough the history depicted here shows a little of the gruesome time where colonialism started and even the blood diamond history, this is truely a very educational museum. It shows when and where all this diamond trades started. The explanation of the diamond types and mining was really comprehensive. You might need more than 1 hour to read all the explanation there.

Few highlights here, which are worth viewing if you got the Amsterdam Pass. Not sure if I would pay for it though.
There are only around 30 lockers, so don’t take a space there for granted on a busy day.

Unfortunately as they also clearly mention most of the shown objects are only replicas. Takes away the vibe a bit.

They have a cool diamond heist room though in which you can test how good of a thieve you were!

Only for a short visit, not recommending to plan the day around it.
