Ambassade Hotel

This review is long overdue but just goes to show how much I am still thinking about this wonderful hotel. My husband and I stayed here in February and it was one of our most favorite hotel stays EVER! Our room had a beautiful view of the canals. The service here was beyond. We especially loved spending time at night at the hotel bar playing chess (and a big thank you to the bartender for lending me his chess tips as I’m still learning). Breakfast was delicious. My husband bought me a bunch of flowers at the floating markets and the hotel obliged me with a vase as soon as I walked in with my bouquet. The girls at the office helped me print my concert tickets. Walking distance to everything you could possibly want to see. We daydream about this hotel all of the time and will definitely be back! A big thank you to all of the staff here, it’s a beautiful hotel, but they made this stay really stand out.

Stayed here with my Mum for business. The staff were so friendly and professional from the very start to the very end of our stay. We both felt very welcomed. The surroundings are elegant and fresh. The room was spotless and quite large, with a lovely rain shower in the bathroom and a double sink. There are plenty of lovely lounge style areas in the communal areas of the hotel to relax too. The staff are always willing to help. The location is excellent, it was easy to walk to all the different sights we wanted to see in Amsterdam and to get there from the train station. If I would recommend any improvements (it's really minor) I would just say the hair dryer isn't very powerful and could be better. But that's all! Everything else was absolutely perfect and I hope to visit again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

we got a triple room & got lucky enough to get a top floor, canal view room! it was such a pleasant surprise & so spacious. There was a door separating the third bed from the main room with the bathroom & double bed.
Overall our stay at the Ambassade was lovely & we’d go back in a heartbeat!
The breakfast was tasty & our pre-dinner drinks were superb. Vibes on point

Amazing hotel just off the very (touristic) center center. Staff and service was amazing. We booked the canal view room with romantic package (chocolate and champagne) for our anniversary - loved it!
I'm a breakfast person and it was so good! Great selection and the coffee is sooo good that I bought 2kg of beans - one of the best coffees I has so fat. Great spa for massages just next door. I'd definitely book again!

The Ambassade is in a great location for walking around Amsterdam. I think it's closest to the museum area, but it's so close to cafes and coffee shops and bars - unless you know attractions you want to be closer to than it offers.
The rooms are large with big comfy beds. Waterfall shower heads, heated bathroom floors and a heated towel rack. The only thing I might ditch is the large chairs to provide more floor space.
Breakfast is either included or part of a package - I would get it. All the lattes and eggs and smoked salmon and fruit I could get.
Staff is super friendly, fluent in English, happy to hold bags for early arrivals, call taxis and mail postcards.

This hotel is the best I’ve ever visited. The reception staff are really helpful, as soon as we arrived they asked our reason for stay & showed us a map marking places to visit. We were also shown up to our room. Rooms were spotless, lovely underfloor heating in the bathroom. Great mini bar plus tv. The attention to detail is like no other. You’re certainly treated really special. Breakfast is amazing everything you could possibly need & yet again staff excel. Really friendly service from everyone with a smile. The waitress knew it was my partner’s birthday a birthday plate was taken to our room with a bottle of sparkle. Was a lovely surprise when we came back in the evening. Everyone single on of you have absolutely made our little break away truly a memorable experience we will never forget. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts to you all.

This is a great hotel! The staff and service is amazing! We can't say enough great things about the staff. They were helpful, engaging, positive, knowledgeable and always willing to go above and beyond. The rooms were very clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable with high end bedding. We ate breakfast at the hotel each morning and it was awesome. A large selection buffet style plus other delicious made to order breakfast choices. The location was great, easy walk to from the train station or to the Van Gogh, Anne Frank and other museums. We walk everywhere. We very rarely take public transportation because we want to experience the city and it's residents. We were also close to some of the main streets which was nice but the canal the hotel is on was very quiet. We highly recomend this hotel! It was worth every penny and we will be returning in the future.

A lovely hotel, centrally located but in a quieter area. Staff were friendly, rooms were spotless and the breakfasts were exceptional. We especially loved the library, complete with chess and draughts, a relaxing place to unwind with a drink after a few hours sightseeing. Would definitely stay again if we returned to Amsterdam.

Lovely hotel with an equally lovely staff. Everyone was attentive, friendly and helpful. The restaurant on premises has a nice ambiance and the food is delicious. The rooms have a nice decor with a modern bathroom and amenities. Depending on which part of the hotel your room is, there might be a narrow staircase to access your room.

A premium experience in the heart of Amsterdam! The staff was kind, thoughtful and every detail was taken care of. My room was beautiful and had a stunning view of the canal! The restaurant within was peaceful and the wait staff were lovely. Highly recommend and will be back again!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Ambassade! The staff was extremely polite and helpful, our room was clean and luxurious, and the location was perfect!

Great location at the heart of the canals ring and nine streets and walking distance from Centraal rail station. Clever restoration and conversion of typical historic gabled houses. Well appointed, comfortable rooms. Good use of space. The hotel staff are really friendly, courteous and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and they will book you tickets. Excellent bar in library with great draft beers and wines by the glass. Try the Bitterballen for a tasty, filling snack. Restaurant expensive so did not eat there but there are plenty of options nearby. We would definitely stay here again.

Today, I had the pleasure of staying at the Ambassade Hotel, located at Herengracht 341, 1016 AZ Amsterdam, Netherlands (9V9P+QV Amsterdam). This hotel is an absolute gem, offering a perfect blend of comfort, elegance, and prime location.

First and foremost, the location of the Ambassade Hotel is excellent. Nestled along the picturesque Herengracht canal, it was incredibly easy to walk to all the different sights we wanted to see in Amsterdam. Major attractions like the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, and the Van Gogh Museum were all within a short walking distance. Additionally, getting to the hotel from the train station was a breeze, making our arrival and departure stress-free.

The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful views of the canal from many of the rooms. The charm of the historic building is complemented by tasteful, modern amenities, providing a luxurious yet cozy atmosphere. Our room was impeccably clean, spacious, and elegantly decorated, featuring comfortable furnishings and all the amenities we needed for a pleasant stay.

One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff. From the warm welcome at check-in to the attentive assistance throughout our stay, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Their local recommendations for dining and sightseeing were spot-on and greatly enhanced our visit to Amsterdam.

Service was great. We were greeted by a very friendly guest services team when we walked in. They took our bags and delivered it to our room for us while we explored the city. The room was beautiful with incredible views of the canal. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Highly recommend staying here if you visit Amsterdam.

Not only is this gem of a hotel a ten minute walk from the best places in Amsterdam, but it is itself one of the best places in Amsterdam. From the moment we pulled up, we were treated like royalty (even with our rough NY accents). I came for the book collection, but we fell in love with the art, games, restaurant, heated bathroom floors, cool canal breezes, and overall best hospitality in the world. Thanks especially to our favorite guy, Zdenek, who found the exact spot my brother visited in five minutes flat using a blurry photo.

After a knock on the almost invisible glass door, we were welcomed with a big and warm smile . Very good service, all the way, the whole evening . Polite, with respect to our gathering ( sometimes noisy,), never too much but always more then friendly in serving us . We needed time to make our choices from the menu ( not so many choices, but tempting and promising in their description) . The winelist is BIG and shows knowlegde about grapevarieties, with surprises and classic safe wines .
We really enjoyed the food ....scallops ,,salmon, steak tartare and the seabass, porc and catch of the day : Haddock .
Compliments to the kitchen staff that showed skills and respect for food with a delicate variety in garnishing, and a beautiful presentation . Thank you

This is a wonderful hotel. Friendly clean filled with art (and Willem will look after you with humour and kindness). Canal view rooms are stunning.

A heartfelt thanks to the charming Ambassador Hotel! Amidst the cold and rain, I invited friends to seek refuge and enjoy a warm drink. The hotel, recommended by a friend. The bartender suggested a delightful bottle that I thoroughly enjoyed – truly lovely. We savored the atmosphere before continuing our stroll through the charming ambiance of Amsterdam after the rain.

If you’re a Traveller who loves authentic hotels that have owners and staff that are passionate about creating a special place, then you’ve just found a gem. The art and interior here is well beyond anything I’ve seen. The book lined bar area is like from a dream. The space is welcoming, spotless, beautifully designed. The people are a treat. Seriously, one in a million.

The Ambassade staff and location was awesome. They really go out of their way to ensure you are happy. We did complain the ac was not working as our canal view was very hot. They ended up bringing in a portable ac to alleviate the heat since it couldn’t be fixed until the morning. That was really going above and beyond. The room was nice. I’m not sure paying for the canal view was worth it. It would have been fantastic with a deck but those don’t exist. We didn’t spend much time looking out the window. I was surprised how quiet it was. We did rent bikes from the hotel which were very easy to ride. Although, walking was preferable as it’s so busy with traffic and hard to navigate google maps from a bike. Easy to walk to shopping area and Red Light district. I would stay again.
