Stopped here for drinks. The bartender was very helpful and informative, knew loads about the history of the drinks on offer and gave us good recommendations. We visited on a Tuesday so it was fairly quite. It has a really quirky interior.

Wonderfully cozy and chill little pub, exactly the kind that I like. Not too busy on an otherwise crowded Friday evening.

Very very good place! Most for local citizens. Really nice place. P.S the cleanest wc that i had seen in Ams.

We had been hoping to have dinner in the restaurant next door but with no reservation our luck was out. Fortunately though the entire menu is available in this pub. Given the nice evening it also meant that we were able to eat out on the street too which gave a different and pleasant experience. There only seemed to be a single person working, which meant he was stretched for the number of people there but given the situation he did really well.

The food menu is extensive with loads of traditional Dutch dishes as well as more recognisable European plates. Everything was served in good time and presented well with the staff being knowledgeable of the options when ordering. The Dutch tasting sharing platter starter was superb with seven tasty items, and the stamppot main was sizeable and full of flavour. Although the prices aren’t the cheapest it’s still good value for the quality of the dishes.

There’s a good range of drinks available inside and the friendly staff member was quick at getting top ups and the service was great. I’ll definitely be returning here, even if just for drinks and I can highly recommend it.

Great vibe for evening drinks, we also decided to try the food which is also great for sharing, amazing truffle fondue and really
enjoyable time!

We've visited this little cozy bar on the Sunday evening occasionally and were surprised it wasn't overcrowded despite it is located on a pretty lively street. Good choice of local and Belgian beers and jenevers for the reasonable price. Fantastic scenery and service with a good sense of humor.

Great little pub with good selection of beers and liquor. Before I went I read that it had traditional Dutch food but initially thought against getting food when we got there because there was no one in the place and no sign of a functioning kitchen. However, after 30minutes or so the place filled up with both locals and tourists and I’m pretty sure the food was being cooked at the busy restaurant next door and then brought into the pub. We got a selection of 7 entrees which was very nice and other people’s meals looked great. Bartender was fantastic, she seemed to know everyone in there and even after the place filled up she was attentive and remembered I didn’t like really sweet beers.

Cute little brown cafe close to Spui. Reasonably priced drinks and very friendly service. The bartender's are also very knowledgeable.

This place turned out to be our local on a recent visit to Amsterdam. I'd wholeheartedly recommend paying the place a visit... sit outside or inside (where there's a screen to watch sport in a very civilised environment) and enjoy the hospitality (and the excellent beers)

My Boyfriend and I had our first date here. The owner is funny & very friendly. The service is fast and always good. The music is great, old classics that feel tailor made to our exact tastes. My boyfriend knows literally every song that plays. The food here is pretty basic bar food, nothing super fancy. Very simple & enjoyable. Very Dutch. A large selection of beers! Even stuff that I drink, and I'm not keen on beer at all. There's something for every taste. I always order a baileys hot chocolate (chocomel): my signature drink, and the owner always happily obliges. The decor is intriguing. Lots to look at and talk about, but certainly not crowded or intimidating. And the bathrooms are quite luxurious! It looks a bit plain from the outside, especially with the construction, but once you enter, it has a warm lovely atmosphere, whether busy or deserted, it's always welcoming. Suitably named as it's fit for a King or Queen!

P.S. Hipsters, stay away! It's a lovely, genuine place. Don't bring your pretentiousness & ruin our spot.

P.P.S. tourists come along! A great little hideout just far enough from the bustle, but close enough to the centre for all of the action at arms reach.

If you look up "hidden gem" in any Amsterdam city guide, I'll be shocked if this place wasn't included. My wife and I didn't plan to eat here, but it's close to put hotel which is why we chose it. As it turns out, they have a lovely selection of beers, a decent sized menu of traditional and other Dutch dishes, suitable for full meals or snacks, and great wines too. On top of that, the service is first class. That ambience is romantic and so easy going, and definitely not cheesy. A great find and I'd highly recommended it.

We had the set menu and had the pea soup and salmon salad and for the main course the meatballs and salmon. It was all delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The vibe in the place is wonderful and fun. I highly recommend it.

we came on a Saturday evening without reservation, and somehow able to get a table right away. Our waiter was excellent, (and very funny). we were offered food from Haesje Claes' full menu (not sure if this is typical). the food was great! cozy atmosphere. all around great experience.
