New English Bookstore

It is really cute store. The prices are the best compared to other english book stores on the block. One book is around 10€ and you can find even cheaper ones.

If you are looking for a very organized English bookstore that has hundreds of books each from a wide variety of genres ranging from biographies to adventure novels to out-of-this-world sci-fi novels, you are at the right place!

The books are organized based on genres and they also have a nice collection of the classics from each genre. I particularly liked that they had the illustrated edition of the handmaid's tale in stock, and it was also priced about the same as it was on Amazon.

When I last visited the bookshop, they also had this very cool concept of a "blind date with a book" going on, where they had a couple of books that were individually wrapped. Each wrapped book had a short list of descriptive words printed on the wrapper that gave an idea of the genre to which the book belongs. And one would have to pick a book just based on these list of words.

The people who work at this bookshop are friendly and helpful, and they also seem truly passionate about their job. This is evident from the way they organise fun events like the above-mentioned "blind date with a book" and also from the way they interact with/help/guide fellow readers who visit their store. They try and help us as much as they can, all while wearing a smile on their face. 😊

This store has a large selection of good quality children's books with very beautiful drawings. My 2 year old daughter is delighted and so am I. I really don’t even know who is more delighted. This store is a revelation for me. I'll definitely come again. Best regards.

This is a truly wonderful bookstore, and I love hanging around here. The book categories are arranged neatly, however given the large number of non-Dutch speaking software professionals in Amsterdam, I wish there was a section dedicated to software engineering and programming.

I loved this bookstore. Whenever I visit other countries I go to bookstores and explore around, this one had such a variety that I'm 100% sure I'll come by again.

Also, they had a very interesting thing going on called "blind date with a book", where the books are wrapped so you can't see the cover and they write on the outside, with few words, what the books is about. As an example you'd have a book that says "magic world, gentleman knight, princess in distress, etc" and that would be the brief summary. One thing to note is that those books can not be returned, but they're also cheaper than the rest if I recall correctly. It's a great idea.

Lovely bookshop. I couldn’t resist buying 2 “blind date with a book” mystery books, it’s a great marketing tactic and makes for a great gift too.

Books are sorted by genre and subject which makes it easier for you to find a book of your interest just in some minutes. Having a right book when you're on a trip, allows you to keep up with your self-education. At the same time, a book purchased is associated with a city you visit becoming a kind of souvenir which you bring to home.

It is like "Everything Store"I loved the scene of the shop and there is wide range of books and options.

This must be my favorite English bookstore in Europe! A discount store that’s centrally located, spacious, and well organized. The books are new and reasonably priced. I especially loved their classics and chick-lit sections. Got a few and I still regret not getting a few more!! Plus, they have this blind-date-with-books concept, for which you pay and get a mysterious book wrapped in paper - what an interesting way to discover new authors and genres!

Oh what a great place. I bought all my Witcher books from there for only 6 euros each. Insane! In other store I found the same books for 14 euros. Always nice and friendly people working and lots of nice books to buy.

Great collection - my wife bought a (english) detective board games from them :)
