I was born in Xinjiang and lived there for nearly ten years, and I can say that the food at Silk Road is very authentic. The whole place is run by Uyghur people! This is my first time dining at their new location, and I can say that the food quality is as superior as it was at their previous location. Today I came with my husband and we ordered the special chicken dish with lamb skewers - they did not disappoint!! The staff were also very friendly, the ambience comfortable and by the water, I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic Uyghur food or just good food in general!

I was positively surprised by the food there! Everything was so tasty and authentic! I wish I had 2 stomachs so I could try everything on the menu at once. Highly recommend the fried vermicelli (spicy), special steam ravioli(my favorite), and grilled lamb kebab! I would love to go back again soon!

Hunting for more Halal Uyghur food, we found this family run Uyghur restaurant. Just moved one week ago or so from a living room like eatery to an amazing located big restaurant by the lake. Freshly cooked dishes (the reason for long wait times, but more than worth it), authentic, delicious tastes, flavours, many many choices. We had Hand pulled Noodle Homestyle Dish, Special Lamb Ravioli, Grilled Lamb Kebab and Da Pan Ji.
One of our favorite restaurants. Congratulations with the new location.

This tastes so good and authentic! But a bit on the pricey side!
Refreshing to find this kind of food, I had it only a couple of times in Germany.
Everything tasted good, I had the cold noodles, dumplings and lamb.
The decor, because it was a different concept before, feels out of place and doesn't match the food.

Beste Lamb scewer and Da Pan Ji!! Must try here. Their Nan is also very good! We know this restaurant from their old location and have been here ever since they moved to this location!

It’s an incredible place with amazing food. Employees are very polite and will always help if you want to change something in your order. Truly Uyghur cuisine

Already visited them and ordered delivery many time when they were in Zeeburg. Now happy to see they have a much bigger sitting area and the food keep authentic and tasty. Although the restaurant is just open and many things are not in place (e.g. they only accept cash or bank transfer 😅, and they don’t have desserts or coffee), the staff promised they would be have all those ready by 8th. May.

Part of the recent renaissance of great authentic Chinese restaurants in the Amsterdam area.

In the Netherlands we are familiar with the Chinese indisch restaurants that creates a unique Dutch mix of Chinese and Indonesian cuisine. In the 80s there was the rise of the authentic Cantonese dim sum restaurants. Pretty much like what’s served in HK and Singapore.
Lately there has been an increase of authentic Chinese restaurants that’s from mainland china. Rotterdam and The Hague had the first such restaurants, but lately Amsterdam seems to have become the center of this Chinese cuisine boom.

Silk Road has been in Amsterdam for a few years already. But They recently moved to this beautiful location in IJburg. Bit far from the amsterdam center, but easily reached by a tram.
What makes Silk Road unique is that as an Uyghur restaurant it is Halal. So the clientele is unlike any other Chinese restaurant in NL. its a mix of local moslims , Chinese expats and a sprinkling of locals.
The food is nothing like what you expect from a “regular” Chinese restaurant.
There specialities are the skewers, handmade noodles and spicy dishes,.
IMO the lamb skewers is the best in Amsterdam area. So succulent without any gamey smell. Even my wife who cants stand the gaminess and smell of lamb loves it. These kebabs are served as appetizer without rice or noodles. I would love to eat it with a side dish. Don’t make the mistake to let the kebab cool down.
I love the hand made noodles. You can’t taste it in its structure of the noodles. Springy with a good bite to it.

It’s not perfect. It’s quite chaotic and during Ramadan don’t come here after they break the fast. It’s so full. Even though everything was computerized they messed up our order and we had to wait hours for our food. And we order a new one…it was too spicy even though we asked for a non spicy dish. They seem to be understaffed and that can cause chaos and delay. Luckily when the food comes…it s great. But better not come during Muslim holidays as its incredibly busy.

Foodwise its really good. IMO better then the Uyghur restaurant in Düsseldorf that was regarded as the best in Uyghur restaurant.
For the unique combination of Kebabs and Noodles….this is a must eat place in Amsterdam.
Just writing this reviews makes me want to come back.

Bring a big appetite of come with a large group so you can taste different dishes.

It was delicious and tge portions were big too so I’d say it’s the money worth! The people there were also really nice! They really helped with the menu and our food choice… thankyou for that!! Herşey çok güzeldi ellerinize sağlık<3

Please please please order the chicken (Dapanji) I nearly cried….

We were regulars at their former place. The food is superb. Hand pulled noodles and dumplings are my favorite. Visited this new location once with friends, they mixed up our order and brought us chicken noodles instead of beef, but it’s tolerable considering they’ve recently opened. One of us don’t eat chicken so we had to order one more, with beef this time. I would have expected them to not charge us for that as it was their mistake in the first place. Still, we love this restaurant, kind and polite staff. We keep coming back.

Very nice. It is the new place of the old restaurant. The home made noodles are fantastic.
The stuffing of the samsa and the dumplings are too rough, not refined.

Amazingly tasty food, different flavours and just enough spiciness to be hot, but not killer. Good vegan options and a variety of dishes.

Food was nice. Environment is super nice, by the way, location is now in ijburg. We didn’t know that and went to the old location. Also do not order lamb leg unless you are familiar with it. It was not for us.
