Came here on holiday with my wife had a great time. So many great pieces underneath one room great prices at the gift shop .
They don’t allow you to carry bags over a certain size inside the museum they do provide a free Locker for your things and a small paper bag for your phone and wallet . From what I see multiple lifts for handicap people .

Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art and Designs is absolutely riveting and definitely a must-visit. Tourists may skip this museum as there are two museums in this Museum Square (Museumplein): Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. I do recommend that you spend a couple of hours here. You won't regret it as these photos would testify. They have special exhibitions on a regular basis. Give yourself a visual treat. Highly recommended!!

My favourite museums in Amsterdam after Anne Frank. The exhibits are moving and gets you engaged. The the audio guide was nice. Toilets are clean but all gender neutral so it was a surprise. The lockers mechanism is confusing, that’s the only bad thing in the museum.

The Stedelijk Museum is larger than it seems. We thought it would only take an hour or so to get through it h everything and it ended up taking over 2 hours going to the whole place. We did try read most of the descriptions so if you’re in a hurry and don’t feel the need to understand every single piece you can probably see everything in an hour. The book store is more generic and I didn’t see anything specific to the Stedelijk.

Very big museum with alot of theater experiences. It has open exhibitions as well. Covered on museum card. Very busy on weekend. It is great experience and exploration for art lovers. Peaceful art view experience.

This museum, beginning shortly, will add an extra admission fee, including for Museumkaart holders, and for certain expositions. This might be an added barrier to visit this museum. So, is this worth a visit?

The stedelijk museum takes you on a tour of artistic expression from the Netherlands from 1900 till now. Mixed in, are temporarily art exhibitions.

The art is varied and there is always something for anyone that catches the eye.

I particularly loved the Martin Wong exposition and the information about his life. I particularly liked his deaf hand gesture paintings that became his signature in his art.

The rooms are big and bright although seating is limited for those who are less mobile

Incredible collection and a great retrospective of Martin Wongs work. Captivating and well curated exhibits. I would not go on a weekend to any museum and this is no exception. The locker situation was a bit confusing with no help from the staff. Getting a ticket online is also not helpful since the site pushes you to get the current Abramovic exhibit which I was not interested in seeing. Price is a bit steep for the general collection. Wonderful to see new and interesting pieces from young Dutch artists of color. Finally less old white people on the walls of museums.

Fantastic museum with a very reasonable entry fee. Tons of incredible art that spans across decades. Plenty of pieces caused me to sit in awe and there were several that made me sit and think.

Just an FYI, the gift shop area is closed off on Monday/Tuesday. But there's also an area where one can store their coats!

This is one of the less visited, but amazing museums in Amsterdam located next door to super-popular Van Gogh museum. There are two floors, first floor is for what we usually call Modern Art, and the second for mostly contemporary art. Many famous artists, eg., Kandinski, Picasso, Pollock, Mondrian etc. are represented. I especially appreciated large collection of Kazimir Malevich and several paintings of Chagal. Obviously, there were a lot of Dutch artists, and I found paintings of Constanz especially interesting. The audio guide is very good, as usual in Dutch museums.

Massive Museum of Contemporary Art.
Different collections of various periods starting from around the 19th century.
Plenty to see.
3 floors.

The lower level is dedicated to the special exhibition s.

Cafe and toilets are available on site.
Free audio commentary is available in English and Dutch.

Stedelijk is museum of modern and contemporary art (and design) located in the Museumplein area. Since it's located next to Van Gogh and the Rijksmuseum, it's easy to miss, but it's definitely worth a visit.
Entrance is free for museum card holders, but in the close future, (during some live performance exhibition) an extra fee up to 10 euro can be charged. Anyway audio guide (in Dutch or English) is always available at no additional cost.
Among the works presented in the museum you can find works by world-famous artists such as Van Gogh, Pollock or Picasso, but at the same time there are whole exhibitions made by just emerging creators.
Art is presented here in all forms - from paintings, posters and photographs, through sculptures (including interactive ones) and films. Moreover, the very form of their presentation is an art in itself.
I recommend visiting during the week, when you can explore it in peace, and to plan at least 2 hours for that visit.

We only went because we failed to book tickets for the Van Gogh museum, but this was a pretty good substitute. The Martin Wong retrospective was amazing and so you should go if you can. The permanent exhibitions were also very good, but a couple of rooms were closed. Time slots for the other exhibition were full so I would recommend booking on advance. The cafe was also really good, but a little expensive.

Incredible modern art museum! So many impressive pieces by Picasso, Chagall, Van Gogh and many more. Plus they have frequent temporary exhibitions, MODERN is going on right now and it’s excellent.

Took the metro here from Amsterdam Centraal, you get off at Museumplein. Not the most spoken about museum but it surely is one of the best I've been to in the Netherlands so far. It has so many cool pieces and it is not as busy as some of the other museums in the city. The layout of everything seemed very logical and organized. Easy to do the coat check, bag drop off, etc.

One of my favourite museums in Amsterdam, sometimes a little overlooked with the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum so nearby but absolutely worth a visit. Well set up exhibitions and also very good own collection, (personally I love the Malevich stuff).

LOVED this museum. The installations are amazing, the wall text is incredibly informative and an excellent read. I especially loved the Modern show - they connected all the dots in such an in-depth, thoughtful - even provocative - way. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

A large collection of contemporary art, across a variety of media and level of 'what on earth did I just see'...

Definitely worth a visit! It's best to pre-book your day just in case, but that's easily done online and you can pay at the door if needed.

At €22 it's a reasonable price for the amount of pieces and exhibits you get to see (around 500) along with the usual educational information.

It's spacious, so you don't at all feel cramped or rushed and can enjoy talking your time.

Would definitely recommend!
