Another quality museum in The NL.
Managed to see the seals feeding and the giant cheeky seagulls diving into the water to snatch the fish from the seals.

Informative museum inside with lots of resources to help explain to children and adults of why it is imperative to look after our environment.

What an incredible place Ecomare Texel is for families.

From the moment we stepped inside, our kids were enthralled by the captivating exhibits that showcased the beauty and importance of marine life.

The highlight for them was undoubtedly the seal rehabilitation center. Witnessing the dedicated team caring for injured seals left a lasting impression and sparked conversations about animal conservation that continued long after our visit.

The hands-on activities and displays made learning about marine ecology so much fun.

We can't recommend Ecomare Texel enough - it's a fantastic way to spend quality time with your children while nurturing their love for the environment.

For only 15€ you can enjoy of a nice sea museum and see the beautiful seals sanctuary. If you come to texel, definitely you have to visit this wonderful place. in this sanctuary the seals are rehabilitated to be returned to the sea in the future. Very educational experience

Such a nice aquarium and exhibition! If you come to Texel, you should definitely visit!
The thing that I liked the most was the discount age is from 4 to 25!

Lovely place for young and old people. We really enjoyed the time there. The presentation in the whale room was very interesting as well and the speaker was very friendly. You should take care that they charge you the right amount for the tickets because under 26 you pay a lower price. In our case we thought we looked young enough, but we were charged with the higher price without even been asked for our ages before, but after telling the employee there was no problem anymore.

This is a very nice and educative place to go. Al information is in Dutch, German and English. It is no problem to bring your children because there is enough to see push and try for them. You have a lot of interactieve material.

A nice experience with interactive exhibitions and lots of animals. There's info also available in English and the museum cafe offers a nice variety of drinks and (glutenfree) cakes.
Thank you for saving and taking care of animals ❤

Ecomare is one of the first animal rescue centre. Beautiful centre to view the seals. Tickets are little bit expensive. Has in-house dining options. Very informative for adults and kids! We had a good time there during visit to Texel!

Beautiful place worth supporting ! Go there and leave some for the animal. The inside area is designed to teach interactively and it works fantastic. Kids and adults will learn here.

It was a great joy to see how sick or wounded seals, porpoise, and birds are treated here, until they return to the sea if possible.
And for children it is quite instructive, too. The staff is very friendly and helpful, there is also a typical old Texel hut and a path through the dunes.
Besides all that you have everything you need here: cafeteria, clean toilets, lockers, buggies,....

It is a sanctuary not a zoo. You can see birds, fishes, seals. An hour is enough. Feeding of seals was very lovely however, it was in Dutch.

This is a treat for marine life fans of all ages! The exhibits are fun and informative, and it's an absolute delight to get up close to the rescued seals, and watch the porpoises get fed by their trusty caretakers.

This facility is ethically managed and operated as far as I can tell, so you shouldn't have to worry about contributing to an oppressive zoo that does more harm to its animals than good.

Great place and for sure a must-visit on the island of Texel. The museum is absolutely great, three languages are available on most of the stations and in addition you can rent an audio guide at the entrance for 1 Euro. The outdoor area contains the porpoises, seals and a walk through the sand dunes with different learning stations. The seals and porpoises make Ecomare the perfect place for kids - my twins were super happy and didn't want to go anymore. Lately they were talking about the seal adoption possibility for hours (you can adopt a seal for 48 Euro per year and receive a entry ticket as well as a picture of your seal as well as some informational stuff by mail). No question - 5 stars.

It is a MUST place in Texel. Loved the scene, the information around it, also I was lucky to see the seal and bird feeding (of course the seal feeding is being told, but the baby bird feeding was just accidentally catched as by walked by when I saw someone and then started to feed the bird).

Many information about the seals placed in the pools. In one part lucky but the other had I can not see but only the permanent seals, which are also like around 10 or bit more. There are also birds and baby birds too.

The closi time is a bit annoying (majority places in the Netherlands are closes the same) 5 pm, which is so bad as the sun in summertimes goes down around midnight. So they could hve be open a bit longer. The place is interesting to have a deep insights. Also, to bike there and around the island is require more time.

I would recommend to stay overnight on the island, or nearby.

Such a great experience! Especially for a colder day! I was only a bit sad there were three people chosen to feed the seals and I wasnt one of them 😅
Jokes aside, a well spent afternoon!
