I would recommend Rotterdam Zoo as a must-visit destination when in the Netherlands. The zoo is not only large and fun, but it offers a beautiful and immersive experience for visitors.

I recently spent 5 hours wandering the zoo and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The variety of animals, beautifully landscaped habitats, and educational exhibits made for a truly captivating experience.

I highly encourage anyone visiting the Netherlands to make time for Rotterdam Zoo. It is a place where both adults and children can appreciate the beauty of nature and the diversity of wildlife.

Absolutely amazing place. The ticket price is 25€ and it is totally worth it. You need at least 5 hrs to explore the whole place. The timings are 9 to 5 so advise you to reach well on time. You will see so many kinds of animals and water species. The Gorillas part was the most interesting one. I nearly spent 1 hour just looking at them and it was so funny watching them play. I could spend the whole day looking at them and not getting bored. Polar bears were also interesting to watch.

Lovely zoo. It used to be a lot smaller and behind the times, but they worked to make it all better. Lots of playground in- and outdoors for the kids, prices are reasonable.
Great way to spend a day.

My visit to Rotterdam Zoo was truly remarkable. The diverse range of animals, beautifully designed enclosures, and the commitment to conservation efforts left a lasting impression. The knowledgeable staff added depth to the experience, and the interactive exhibits made it engaging for all ages. I highly recommend this zoo for an enriching and enjoyable day out with the family.

Even though it was a day in October many of the animals were out and about, do I think we got a bit lucky honestly! This is a pretty great zoo I think.

From what I could understand if the displays there was quite a bit slant to teaching admit conservation. Which is great! But for the non-native be warned that the majority of displays do NOT have any sort of translation.

Also be warned it's quite a large site, even walking at quite a brisk pace you're likely to need a good chunk of a day to make it around. I was actually with my wife and her rather slow father... And there was legitimate fears we might not get out before they closed (spoiler: we did).

Very nice urban zoo, with a good variety of animals. The Rotterdam Zoo is easily reachable by bus from the train station and the city center.

Visited on a Monday morning, there were more visitors and kids than I would have expected so be prepared to the fact you won’t be alone even on a weekday morning.

Total visit lasts approx. 4 hours (but haven’t read any explanations), there is a lot to see even if the zoo doesn’t seem big. You could easily spend 5 hours there if you are not in a hurry.

For non-dutch speakers : there are no English signs nor explanations, even the zoo map given at the entrance is not translated. Such a shame they haven’t thought about any foreign visitors…

Cloakroom : there are available lockers for 2€ each, but the info displayed on their official website hasn’t been updated (it was said 0.95€/day).

If you’re coming with kids there is a huge outdoor playground space inside the zoo which is nice for kids to have fun.

I visited this place with my baby, and we absolutely loved this place. Very well maintained with proper maps, signs on the path. The oceanium is a must visit if you love the underwater species.

Really nice zoo to visit in the city of Rotterdam. The zoo isn't that big, but it's not that small either. A good days walk about with closing hours at 6 p.m. unless you buy an evening ticket.
The kids enjoyed, but got a bit fussy because of the walking and the lovely warm sun. The different restaurant terraces were quite full which made it so much more enjoyable.
We didn't get to see the black rhinos and the crocodiles, but another reason to go back for another visit.

A very well kept zoo quite close to the Rotterdam Centraal train station and easily reachable by metro and bus. More than anything else the zoo provides education for children and adults alike. Toilet facilities are scattered across the zoo as well as places for refreshments. It has an extensive bookstore too. Highly recommended when you are in Rotterdam even if you (just like me) are against animals put in confined spaces. PS: Polar bears do not belong in any zoo !

Very big place. Not only good as zoo but as a park. Aquarium is a big one too with a good variety. Noticeable how many animals were born in this zoo, meaning that animals are getting really good care

It was very nice trip. The zoo has lots of nice animals with multiple view angles indoor and outdoor, so you should be able to see the animals in different seasons. The aquarium section was also nice. There are many rest stations with different food options across the zoo. It is easy to spend 7 hours there without feeling bored or disappointed.

Fantastic location for couples or families, we had spent around 4-5 hours exploring the zoo and watching the animals. We had went on a day with light rain so the zoo was not as busy and it allowed us to explore at our own pace.

Amazing zoo. Surprisingly big, it goes on and on: just when you think it has finished there's a huge aquarium. Allow at least 3 hours (at speed), or more like 4 hours plus to see everything. Some things were being revamped, which was actually nice to see it being invested in. It was raining when we went and there was plenty to see inside.

The toilets were well-kept, although I was quite confused between male/female from the African sculptures on the doors!

The cafes were good and frequent and look out for the eco-cups, which are reusable and a 1 Euro deposit is refundable on return!

This app is amazing. I used to think the San Diego Zoo was great. No longer. The animals here clearly have great care. They are organized by continent and are easy to find. There are many planned spaces to help children exhaust their play needs. The food we had was also reasonably priced and yummy. This place is not only designed to exhibit the animals well and teach environmental and world care but with human comfort as well.

Amazing Zoo!! You need to go early so you will have plenty of time to see everything and every detail. The animals look very well cared and in good habitat created for each species.
I post a picture to my favourite member of the Zoo

Great and unique zoo. Helpfull and friendly staff. The organizer gave me voucher with 17 euros in it. So I can spend to buy anything I want (food, baverages and merchandise) with the limit of 17 euros. But the line to get the food and baverage was loooong at the time

Lovely zoo, one of (if not the) oldest zoos in the Netherlands. We had a great time there, you can and probably but your tickets online. The staff was very flexible with the closing time, we appreciated that a lot. ☺ Thank you, we'll definitely be back! 🙏
