Stadhuis Rotterdam

What a magnificent building this city hall is! It's worth a visit simply to admire the architecture. The entrance on the left of the building, opposite the police station, is for civil registry. When you want to take photographs please ask the guard (s) for permission and make sure your photos are devoid of people.

If you get the chance, peek in to see the beautiful City Hall interiors — with half-finished murals from the inter-war years, statuary, historic wood finishes, and grand meeting rooms. A more modern interior design can be seen in the staff cafeteria in the attic.

A miracle this building is still in tact, one of few surviving structures from the Second World War. The statue’s motto speaks to this resilience. Translation from Dutch: “stronger through struggle”.

The staff were so friendly! The garden in the backyard is a lush oasis of peace. And the toilettes are the best in town (😂)

As a tourist, this is one of the most spectacular, pieces of period architecture that was spared by WW2 in Rotterdam. It’s elaborate, classy and gorgeous. You can roam around at your own accord and try to go in the early evening so you can wonder at the spectacular garden when it’s illuminated

Could not get in but the bells in the tower were playing for some time. Wish I could have got inside but so much to see and so little time. By 6pm music stopped. Huge downtown shopping district across the street. Rained most of the day so when the sun comes out so does the town.

The Townhall (Stadhuis) of Rotterdam at Coolsingel 40 by Henri Evers was built between 1914 and 1920. It was one of the few buildings in the city center to survive the bombardments by the Germans in May 1940.

A spectacular building which is also the city hall of rotterdam. One of few architectural master pieces which survived the WWII. You can also go inside and look around. Unfortunately we couldn't go inside due to covid lockdown.

All I can say is, this place is just splendid.

I struggled with the nearby public toilet that was super nasty and dirty, then bumped into this city hall by chance and it has free toilet! Super clean free toilet. Appreciate it very much. Saves the day!

such an impressive building! Also, the people working at the municipality are very friendly. My appointment in September went well and everything worked as planned. Now, I was not able to attend the offices in person. I sent an email which was accepted within one day. Thankyou!

A have to see when you visit Rotterdam. Beautiful old building. Tip: visit it on monumentendag.

The people working there are super patient, helpful and nice. I lost my passport there and they called me cuz they've found it.
I dealt with french administration before, and I have to say this is 1000x better
