It is a tribute to the writer Nescio by sculptor Hans Bayens. Bayens made the work on the occasion of the death of Jan Hendrik Frederik Grönloh, the man behind the pseudonym Nescio. The tribute consists of a bronze statue in which (from left to right) Hoyer, Bavink and Koekebakker, three characters from Titaantjes van Nescio, who hang from a bench overlooking the Oosterpark. Just like their inventor, they look at the people who walk through the park. The original statue, revealed by Grönloh's widow on October 9, 1971, was stolen in 1985, but a new cast was added in 1988. In 2006 it was daubed with paint.
