Picasso - Figure découpée l'Oiseau

Nice abstract sculpture sketched by Picasso (but was made by the Norwegian sculptor Carl Nesjar) and supposed to look like a flat bird or a flat fish. Two more are held in MIT and in Helsingborg Sweden.

Extraordinary sculpture set in a beautiful park — it’s as sculpture should be, free-to-access, and left able to interact with by the public.

It looks great and well-maintained too.

Peru amazing to find out there's a sculpture by Picasso on my daily commute in Amsterdam. There's no marker or anything here to inform people who made it; I can't help but think if there were, then a lot more people would stop and take notice of it. It's just in the corner of a small field where many people might not notice

Any fan of Picasso, when visiting Amsterdam, should find this sculpture hidden in the Vondelpark.

Amazing park with lush greens and water. Plenty of birds and ducks live in this park.
People enjoy sunbathing, cycling, running, walking and having picnics.

This open air Picasso Sculpture doesn't get enough recognition in this lovely Vondel Park. The most people are not aware that this is an art piece of the famous Picasso, all though it was made by Carl Nesjar. It is a concrete plastic of approximately 7 meters in height. It is definitely great to see original art in park in the middle of Amsterdam.
The almost two-dimensional image was placed in memory of the 100th anniversary of the Vondelpark. An international sculpture exhibition was held in that park as a celebration. The organization for this was partly in the hands of Willem Sandberg, an retired director of the Stedelijk Museum (Modern Art Museum). Picasso did not ask for a fee for his entry for the exhibition, but stated that Amsterdam had to pay for the placement costs (estimated at that time at 500,000 guilders, actual costs 100,000 guilders, which it would be about EUR 45.455). As an additional requirement, he stated that it would always remain publicly displayed.
