A very compelling and informative museum which the audio tour (a must have) ties together well. The museum was packed at 12 so get tickets for an earlier slot If you really want to examine the art.

I absolutely loved it. I bought tickets for early in the morning so there weren’t too many people visiting. The lockers were a bit confusing at first but somehow I worked through it 😅 You can take photos of all paintings, which is great too. I had an audio guide and I think it was helpful but you could just as well get the same information without it.

Buy your tickets in advance! Of all the museums in the Museum Quarter this one is seems like the highest in demand where tickets sell out the quickest. I would recommend buying at least a week before your planned visit. We still had to queue up for around 10 minutes even with our timed entry ticket. As for the museum it’s laid out nicely. There’s 2 parts of the museum. One where pictures are allowed and a separate section where no photography is allowed. It took us almost 3 hours to go through the all the exhibits as a relaxed pace. I really appreciated the commentary of the life of Van Gogh along with his works. It really allows people to understand his evolution along with his friends and associates that influenced his style. The gift shops carry a lot of interesting items so be sure to save time to get some gifts for your friends and family!

It was about a 2 hour trip and it was totally worth it! Some folks were a bit pushy to see the paintings but it was amazing, not too crowded, and we got to see and experience everything we wanted to there unlike at some other museums. While there is art from others than just Van Gogh, it is a huge dedication to his art, his life, and his talent. Just amazing.

This is a great art museums. Pre booking of tickets highly advised. The buildings are huge and splendid to see. Audio tours are amazing to listen to stories while enjoying the art. There is a good cafe which serves fresh food. It also has big shop and a book store. Highly recommended!

Long waiting line, but we managed to get in exactly on the time we booked.

It was special feeling to see the paintings live and read about the Van Gogh' life.

Souvenirs are surprisingly not too expensive as one could expect.

A great place to find out about one of my favourite artists and view his paintings. The museum was busy on the Sunday afternoon we'd pre-booked tickets for but still allowed us plenty of space and time to enjoy the exhibits. It's a shame there was no starry night on display and no mention of it either.

It was a great experience. The museum consists of two parts: permanent and temporary exhibition. I’ve arrived almost at 15:00 and it took me 2h to go through the main part (permanent) and souvenir shops. As the museum closes at 17:00, I didn’t have time to go to the other part. However, as the main part consists of 4 floors (if I am not mistaken), it was more than enough to feel absolutely satisfied.

They also have a cafe and a restaurant, 2 gift shops and 1 book shop.

I also bought an audio tour which was good as well.

Highly recommend! Don’t forget to buy the tickets online in advance!

My daughter's dream came true. Finally we visited the van Gogh museum, at the first slot time without so many crowds. I have to say the audio guide is really top, it brought us through the whole artist life of Van Gogh and let us slowly slowly get into the deepest side of his heart. With the letters to his brother, till when he made the almond blossom for Theo and Jo's baby. You can see the brilliant wishes in this drawing... This museum took us almost all day, but still we didn't see much of it. Need to come back. Really love it.

Missed last year due to not booking ahead so this year had tickets several weeks ahead. Used audio guide so could go at own pace. Well laid out over 4/5 floors taking through Vincent’s life and times. Apart from the huge collection of his art there were also works by some of his friends and contemporaries.

Certainly one of the best museums I've ever visited. The storytelling is excellent, and the manageable crowds allow you to truly take your time and immerse yourself in Van Gogh's life and journey. Highly recommended!

You have seen his paintings and you have heard his life, but the museum takes you to a whole new level to get to know who Van Gogh is. Dive deep into the mental health and life of one of the most interesting artist of the world.

My planned visit coincidentally took place during the Pokemon Adventure campaign so I could not believe my luck. Make sure you book your online tickets weeks in advance because they sell out fast. No videos or flash photography, I don't think there were signs but we were informed by the staff who were firm but respectful. I think the museum is curated really well and it's fun for visitors of all ages. I appreciated the prompts and interactive activities to enhance my experience. I also appreciated seeing the more human and troubled version of Van Gogh through his letters and audio exhibits. The Pokemon paintings were also exciting to see in person. We were fortunate to get the trading cards and there were people approaching us seeking to purchase the cards as soon as we exited the building.

Amazing Museum 👏 a must if you're in Amsterdam. Vincent was highly productive over his 10 years of painting, and the Van Gogh family built this museum with 200 works and nearly all the letters that he wrote to his brother, Theo. There are paintings by those the brothers collected, which hang here as well. Buy tickets in advance, though, because they sell out on specific dates, and you could be one of those people at the door, searching for tickets online, without a ticket available until a week later. Don't want that. Love this place. It does get super busy from 11am-3pm.

Surely one of the places to visit if you love art! It would be really great to add a part of "Van Gogh : The Immersive Experience" which we saw in Brussels to this museum as part of permanent expo, hopefully one say it will be implemented. I'm glad I saw both.
Also a copy of "Starry night" would be great (the original is in New York) , it's really missing.
Was a memorable experience!

My guide, Anna, was professional, friendly, and a fascinating storyteller. I really enjoyed learning stories about Vincent Van Gogh. Anna is a wonderful and compassionate historian revealing the untruths about him through her very own research. It was crowded in the museum, of course. But I was very happy that I booked a private tour max 8. We had a total of 3 people. This museum tour with the amazing guide, Anna, was worth every kilometer traveled from the USA. 🌍♥🇳🇱😊😍

The Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam is a museum dedicated to the life of Vincent Van Gogh and holds the largest collection of his paintings anywhere in the world. Van Gogh was a troubled soul; impoverished, unsuccessful in love, unsuccessful in his career and emotionally unstable. He would famously self harm, was committed to an asylum and eventually ended his own life at the age of 37. But for a period of 10 years he was a prolific artist creating nearly 1000 artworks.

Vincent may well have disappeared into obscurity, but thanks in large part to his loyal brother Theo and Theo's wife Johanna in publicising and supporting his work, Vincent's reputation has continued to grow to where he is now recognised as probably the most important artist of the last 400 years and with his own museum in central Amsterdam!

The Van Gogh museum is very popular and tickets can sell out weeks in advance, so if you are travelling to Amsterdam please book a timeslot before you arrive to avoid disappointment.

Audio tours are available for a small additional charge, I would highly recommend taking one as you get to hear about Van Gogh's life as you move through the exhibit, and due to the number of visitors it's not always comfortable to stand and read the information up close to a painting.

The museum has free locker space to put your backpacks, etc. which is a great help.

Access to the Van Gogh museum isn't included in the Amsterdam city card, but it is included with the Netherlands museum pass (as is Anne Frank's house) so this may be cost effective for you if you plan to visit several museums on your trip.

Highly recommended.

If you love his works, you would like to visit here.
You have to buy tickets in advance, it's a very popular place. Audio guide was included in my ticket. His paintings and letters were very touching.
