Absolutely amazing place, spacious church where you can walk around by yourself enjoying old times and imagining how parishioners had their prayers there. Nice, smiling and helpful staff at the entrance.
As mush the church is beautiful itself as weird and inappropriate one can find the exhibitions on the screens and inside the draped rooms. That variety includes dancing hands, talking faces, creepy noises, X-rays pictures on the walls, waxed items laying on the desk. What does it have to do with the building being a church? It is hard to tell.
I would definitely recommend to visit, just hope they’ll reconsider the direction the now museum is going.

The Kerk is breathtaking, the history and architecture is incredible. The staff at the entrance are friendly and helpful.
The audio guides provided are useful to understand the history of areas of the Kerk. The modern art installation on the other hand is jarring, pretentious nonsense, completely misaligned with the grace and beauty of the Kerk.

It is the oldest building in the city. The church is ironically located right in front of the Red Lights District! The church is beautiful, built in the Gothic style. In front of the Oude Kerk church there is a sculpture of a hand grabbing her breast. Which is really provocative

Must see historical building in heart of red light district...don't let that hold you back from visiting. Recording to listen in various languages. Neat historical facts and info. Did not enjoy the current artistic displays as much as history, but was unique.

I was concerned when I first entered that I had wasted my money, but after exploring all the exhibition (about Meredith Monk) I was breathtaken by the whole place. I couldnt get my audio guide to work, but still a 5* beautiful visit. Spent about 90 minutes there.

An experience a little less common, I enjoyed my visit at the Oude Kerk immensely. It's obvious through the (free) audio guided tour that much effort has been put into documenting this important place in Amsterdam history & making this historical information available to all. Perfect for a Sunday museum tour!

BEAUTIFUL church (and contemporary arts center!!). I got a mini-tour by one of the very informed staff members at the entrance desk - learned how the church was previously Catholic, then Protestant as a result of the Reformation. Rembrandt's first wife is buried there, and the church also contains Rembrandt's wedding certificate. After all the ornate, gilded churches I saw in Rome, this was a welcome visual shift. Also, I happened upon this church by accident - had not been on my itinerary but HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Oude Kerk is the kind of place you'll never forget!
Reasonable entry fees. Kinda hard to find the areas with the included audio guide but worth it to wander around.
We went here and happened upon an art showing, we ended up staying for hours! Good times :)

A Lutheran church (previously catholic) in Amsterdam. They provide an audioguide with all the information. There is an interesting room in which is kept the act of marriage of Rembrandt.
This place is worth the visit!

This is a beautiful building. My sons (5 & 3) had a nice time with the challenging scavenger hunt. My 5 year old enjoyed the Garden of Scars video. I thought it might be a quick trip for kids so young but they explored and peered and made rubbings for over an hour. I could spend longer looking in detail at the stones adorning the floor.
Parent note: the prize for the scavenger hunt was disappointing. They were offered a free eraser. They hoped they'd get a coloring poster like they did from Van Gogh and Cobra. Bring your own prize.
OH we WERE given free paper binoculars for looking at the stones and ceiling. They still really like those.

Steeped in so much history… it is THE oldest building in all of Amsterdam. It’s an interesting window into the past. Oh, if the walls could talk… Highly recommended…

Beautiful church with a vast historical background. The stained glass windows are beautiful! There isn’t too much to do inside, so I would suggest visiting when there is an exhibition going on, to have more to see.

The Old Church is currently under renovation. I chose to climb the tower with a guide and some fellow tourists. It was quite informative to learn a bit history of the church and its bell tower, our guide Lukas was quite knowledgeable. You could have a bird’s views of the entire city of Amsterdam from the 34-m platform. The entire city was built in a swamp, so not many high rise or high buildings in and near the city. It was well worth the guided tour! Cheers!

In these crazy days you can't but wonder that there must be a higher power, this church helps navigate this crazy world showing how it is all as the Bible said. Love this family and never let more connected.

A must see in Amsterdam, the oldest building in the city. It has an excellent audio tour that explains the history of the church and the city of Amsterdam. The building and its history are amazing, this was one of my favorite things we did on our trip.

Some parts of the church was under construction. Even though those parts are still visible they only charge half the price for a visit. Very thoughtful.
Church itself is interesting. Not very big, don't expect much. But contains some interesting architecture.
