First time I had assam laksa and I think the other one was the Currey laksa. So flavory and unique taste. It's a simple roadside restaurant but the quality of food is good. Even the kway tao that the uncle whipped out was tasty.

Laksa tastes traditional, simple but yummy.
We had reached there around 2pm last week but sold out.
Good to be there before 1pm to avoid disappointment.
Spring roll is recommended too.

A clean and comfortable environment for having lunch, toilets are clean too. Laksa cham (Penang laksa+Siam laksa) is recommended. You may order 2 bowls of each laksa, try each tase of the both laksa, and then mix them together, it will give you a new taste combo in your mouth.
After enjoying your food, just ask the waitress to calculate your bill.

Someone's mum recommended the Siam Laksa (lemak version of assam laksa). I liked it for sure. We ordered char koay teow and fried rice too. The CKT is not bad. Judging from number of orders, the CKT is quite popular with the locals. The shop is away from town area where modern shoplots are located.

Whenever Penangites talk about laksa, it will definitely fall on "the good one in Balik Pulau". Well, this is the one that used to be next to the wet market. They've moved into their own shoplot, in a cleaner and more comfortable environment.

The laksa broth here is rich and fishier than most other laksa that you will get all over town. Some claim this to be the way assam laksa should be, while others disagree. I find this one to be good, but the fishiness can be a little overpowering.

All in all, it's a nice drive to find this place and experience it for yourself.

Not many people realise this is the original famous laksa stall from the old town. They have moved into a bright yellow shophouse at Botanica CT, the same neighbourhood as upmarket cafes like Starbucks & coffeebean.
Nevertheless, the kopitiam still looks humble & prices remain reasonable.
Both the assam & lemak laksa here are tasty without being overpowering. For those who wish to have both, you can request for mixed soup. The char koay teow here is said to be good too.
For drinks, their signature lime juice with plum is a refreshing welcome on a hot day.

Said to be the original laksa from old town. Came here to try their laksa. Asam Laksa, Siam Laksa and Mixed. I still like the Asam version.
Can’t resist the char kway teow. 👍

Saved the best for last as it is famous as the 'original balik pulau laksa'. Despite a full belly, I finished my bowl. The siam laksa is unique and tasty, with ingredients reminiscent of Thai green curry. Asam laksa is acceptable, though the taste of the siam laksa probably overshadows it. Washroom is clean and cool, as is the seating. Separate lines outside the shop for takeaway and dine in.

This is the place where locals of Balik Pulau recommended us for Asam Laksa and Siam Laksa.
The broth was indeed very flavourful, Siam Laksa was rich in santan and slightly sweet while Asam Laksa was very appetising with a spicy sour kick! The Laksa pairs perfectly with umbra and nutmeg juice but personally i prefer the umbra juice.
There were only 7 tables available so please avoid lunch peak hours, or you could opt to takeaway which is faster!

My local Penang friend told me this is the original Balik Pulau laksa! Here, only sell char kwai teow, assam laksa and drinks. It tastes sour. I still prefer thick laksa soup with lots of fish.

Tried their char kuey teow here, and it was quite delicious with enough wok hei and good taste. Order came fast as well with them fulfilling our custom orders (e.g. not too spicy and more eggs) well. Would return again to try their asam laksa and Siam laksa. Plenty of parking and it was not too busy when we went there with our party of 4. However, it could be really busy if it is the holidays or weekends as most people will come here for their helping of char kuey teow or laksa.

The Siam Laksa is the star! 10/10 must order.
The nutmeg juice is so concentrated, so much nicer than those I had at other places in Georgetown.

The usual hawker around here will sell 2 types of laksa, the typical Penang asam laksa and the curry laksa (with santan, coconut milk). Anyhow, asam laksa is always well-known in Penang. The char kway teoh is very very delicious, still using charcoal to cook it. Portion is ok, normal man can have a plate of char kway teoh and a bowl of asam laksa. Price also very reasonable

Food is delicious. But the shop is very temperamental. It says close on Mondays and Tuesdays. But Wednesday go also it closes. Be prepared to have alternative shops to patron if you're tourist or not local. Locals call this shop 'toh-khor'. It opens and closes as it wish.

The best laksa in Balik Pulau. The original “Kim” laksa. I particularly like the lemak one. The servings are bigger n tastier than those found around Balik Pulau town. Don’t forget to try the Char Koay Teow too, it’s comparable to the famous ones.
