Embarking on a night walk around Penang during the ushering of 2022 was an enchanting immersion into the vibrant heart of the city. As the clock struck midnight, the cityscape transformed into a lively tapestry of colors, sounds, and jubilant celebrations that painted an unforgettable picture of the New Year’s festivities.

The luminous Penang streets, adorned with twinkling lights and colorful decorations, exuded an infectious energy that enveloped the city. The bustling Georgetown area, in particular, seemed to come alive, each corner pulsating with excitement as revelers welcomed the new year in their own unique ways.

Walking along the heritage streets, the fusion of cultures and traditions was palpable. The aroma of delectable street food wafted through the air, beckoning locals and tourists alike to savor the culinary delights of Penang’s renowned hawkers. The vibrant street art, illuminated by festive lights, added a whimsical charm to the historical walls, narrating tales of the city’s rich cultural tapestry.

The iconic Penang Bridge stood majestically in the distance, adorned with dazzling lights that reflected on the serene waters below, creating a picturesque scene against the night sky. The echo of laughter and cheers blended harmoniously with the distant sound of music, creating a symphony of celebration that reverberated throughout the city.

Among the revelry, the sense of community and camaraderie was evident as locals and visitors came together to bid farewell to the past year and embrace the promises of the new one. The vibrant street performances, spontaneous gatherings, and the collective joy of the crowds were a testament to the city’s vibrant spirit and diversity.

The night walk around Penang during the New Year’s celebration in 2022 was more than just a stroll through the city; it was an immersive experience that captured the essence of Penang’s cultural vibrancy, warm hospitality, and the collective hope for the year ahead.

We went up the heritage trail. A lot of steps and it's very hot. You can also take the train up. There is a food court and various activities at the top.

Going down, the Penang hill trail is recommended. It's a quick descent and you have beautiful views of Penang and Georgetown.

Although the traffic on the island is tremendous, the island has great food to offer, great tourist spots, hiking and explorations spots, beaches and night spots. It has something to suit all who visits the island. You do need time to explore the local sites and not the tourist areas to experience the Penangite life

Penang Island is basically the Second Singapore because of Penang Project of land reclamation.

A nice place to relax from the city buzz.. Simply relax, watch sight, good scenersnies and silence .. Penang is like a old world charm. There are modern buildings as well, yet old I'd still maintained.

Life is much laid back there. Lots of tourists from across the world. Some places are made dirty by some careless tourists like casual littering. But overall a good weekend getaway. There are many places to visit from nature lovers to history, all can enjoy. Loads of cuisines to try.

Just plan a weekend and extend few more days, 5 days or a week would be better. Simply recline, stroll, click pics, feel the vibe, dont dirty the island and go back with beautiful memories , relaxed mind and lungs filled with oxygen.

One of the most popular tourist destinations in Malaysia along with Langkawi, KL, JB and other destinations within Malaysia.
Great food and attractions both historic and modern. Go try the off beaten path and discover rural penang which is as attractive and exciting as Georgetown and Batu Feringhi.
In terms of last mile connectivity there are no mini buses or other smaller transport options that can be taken to reach smaller areas not on the main path of city bus routes.
Penang should start such services to make other areas accessible for tourists as well as locals.

Penang is one of the most beautiful places to visit or live for expats. The nature, hill, and see provide a mixed nature paint. However, as any other tropical place, the insects, lizards, and snakes are thriving.

So much has been written about this island, so many expatriates have moved over here and made this place their second home. So many articles have been written about the island being a food paradise i.e. three famous sampling that is well-known and need no introductions are 1) the laksa, 2) Penang Char Koay Teow and 3) the mouth watering King of fruits the Durian. So many short films have been produced by youtubers on interesting things to do and places to visit, so many reviews have been published about costs and standards of living, properties and living conditions, countless publicity on health tourism and if you're a vivid traveller prevalent articles on the island and yearly events held here. Penang is one place no visitors should leave out of their travel itinerary, after all it's one of the cheapest destination to visit among the many tourist hotspots on offer. Right from accommodations to food, transportations to shopping is always carved with esteem satisfactory in picturesque atmosphere of convenience. Locals are friendly and language is not a problem because English is spoken by majority as a medium of communication. I can write for days without ending, there's no better saying then seeing it for yourself. Cheers and spend your next holiday here to experience the diversified cultures of a multi-national country.

Penang, the island of Malaysia, is located off the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaya in the Malacca Strait, without a doubt, wandering through the streets of the UNESCO Heritage Area of Penang should be top of any visitors list…

Penang is a city of vibrant and rich culture, many traditional ways of living are still preserved until today. Kek Lok Si, St Anne's Church, Floating Mosque are just a few tourist hotspots to begin with. The island is also a shopping heaven, as there are many enormous shopping malls such as Queensbay and Gurney Plaza, with shops in various price range. Penang is also the state that holds the most events, Japance Bon Odori, Thai food festival, Penang Bridge Marathon, Southern Chinese culture festival abd so on. Nightlife is also booming in Penang as there are many clubs, pubs, restaurants that operates till the late night. Penang food such as Asam Laksa and Hokkien Mee are a delight. The island is also the city with the most FDI, as corporate giants suchs as Thomson Reuters, Intel, Fairchild, B-Brawn had their plants and offices set up here.

Since Malaysia’s tourism slogan is Truly Asia, Penang is Truly the heart of Asia.

Lots of nice food to try and places to explore if you don’t mind the 30 degree heat and 100% humidity.

So, in general, I am a great fan of Penang. It has a bit of a Hong Kong vibe, with the coastline developed for residential purposes and the hills in the middle of the island left relatively untouched. Thus, in 20 mins you can switch from urban surroundings to a - sort of a - wilderness.

It also is quite culturally diverse, with three nations - Chinese, Indians and Malays - creating an exciting mishmash. This translates to great food options, lots of spiritual choices (as a Buddhist scholar, I was surprised to discover centers of virtually every branch of Dharma on the Island).

What it lacks is manners and civilisation. People are typically rude and uncouth, unprofessional and amateurish in their business dealings. Quite a long way from, say, Singapore or even Thailand.

Penang is a Malaysian island off the Malay Peninsula in the Strait of Malacca. In George Town, the capital of Penang state, foreign influences are evident in landmarks like colonial Fort Cornwallis, Chinese clan temple Khoo Kongsi and Indian-style Kapitan Keling Mosque. Other notable religious sites include the Chinese Goddess of Mercy Temple, the Buddhist Kek Lok Si Temple and Hindu Sri Mahamariamman Temple.
