Worth the 1 hr and 20 minutes hike! Ticket from Taman Negara Penang is RM10. Clearly trodden pathway stay in the main path and zero chance of being lost. Can be quite adventurous for beginners. Steep stairs and hike up, and steep hike down when you are near the beach. Reccomended to arrange a boat to take you back at the Taman Negara before starting your journey since phone lines arent available in Kerachut Beach (we were too tired thus taking a boat back, of course you can hike back!!). Make a deal with them to fetch you ~ 2.5hrs. You cant swim here, and no restaurant around. Enjoy the beach, the breeze and the turtles! The turtle conservation centre do sell bottled water at RM5 per big bottle. If you suddenly decide to go back by boat, try to stop the boat you saw and request for them to arrange a new trip back for you. Nice boat captains around!

The cleanest beach you can find in Penang. Worth the hike, if you're to ask me. It took me 1 hour plus to finish it though.

The water is super clear where you can see Jellyfishes, crabs and fishes from its surface.

Beautiful beach after a 1.5 hour hike. The turtle museum is quite small, but nonetheless great to appreciate it at the end of the trail. Little turtles swim in the tanks, and a helpful staff can answer in English any queries you might have.

The beach itself is nice to enjoy. A salty breeze on pristine white sands, some swings and artfully placed logs for aesthetic photos. Nice!

The visitor logbook is fun to flip through! The people you passed by on your way, you can find their bames and country in the book!

You can then hike back the same way, or take a boat for 100MYR to monkey beach. My friend and I are very thankul for the pair of travellers who allowed us to also get in your boat! Thank you!!!

Me and my partner hiked to this beach (both early 30s, not people that workout but not unfit), the hike is very doable and a great way to see the jungle.
This hike was great in that we passed a few people on the way there and back but not loads of people so it didn’t feel touristy at all and the beach itself was almost empty.
We stopped for a picnic lunch and explore before heading back. The hike is 2km each way, so 4km in total.
If you only want to hike one way, you MUST arrange this at the entrance and there will be a fee to be dropped off or picked up by boat. You cannot organise a boat pick up once you are at the beach.
The beach itself is beautiful and a great spot to relax and spend a few hours if you’re a beach person. There isn’t anything to do on the beach apart from relax.

I chose to come here and return by a boat as I don't have much time to hike on foot during my visit. Got to pay RM200 including a stop at Monkey Beach. At this beach you just can visit turtle sanctuary, the lake (that you need to be in lucky timing to see the beauty) and the beach itself. I don't see people swimming as there is a prohibited sign.

A really beautiful hidden beach that I think worth a visit.

Well hidden and secluded beach , it is a nice 4+km hike to get here from the National park entrance at Teluk Bahang. Worth the trek indeed . You can also take a boat here directly but that will defeat the purpose of doing some exploration. A better approach will be to hike here and arrange for a boat pickup later beforehand. The trail is generally well marked and maintained , probably suitable for stronger beginners or intermediate hikers.

This is one of the best beaches in the island of Penang! You only find great water quality at a couple of beaches and this is one of them.
At this beach you can sea plenty of eagles patroling in the air, giang black sqirrels, and at the far end of the beach there is a turtle sanctuary where they often have small turtles to be released in the ocean. The snall turtles are released in the ocean 7-10 days after their eggs are hatched which increase their chance og survival. It’s definitely a must to visit if you go the this beach. Thanks for your great work at the turtle sanctuary!

The hike is quite tough. Total distance from National Park to the beach is 3.5km. But it's worth because the beach is so beautiful. You can take a boat back to the National Park. It's cost RM100/trip. So my friend and I decided to hike back to the park.

One of the hidden gems in penang. With the current CMCO state, only 250 ppl are allowed per day. And the entrance to aceess the hiking route is open from 8 am to 2pm . After 6 the main gate will be closed. So if you want to go back to the entry point by foot, you will have to be alert about time management. Not allowed to swim here as there has been drowning cases and jellyfish presences in the sea. No monkeys could be seen from near so it might be a good picnic spot. However, leave the beach clean and bring back all the trash with you as there are no proper garbage dumping site on the beach. Avoid coming here during rainy season as the waves here could reach as high as 5 meters. It took me just an hour trek to reach the beach. Easier than hike to penang hill.

Hey all, this is a nice easy 1.5 - 2 hour walk each way from the park headquarters to the beach. Terrain needs your pay attention at all times, exposed tree roots, rocks and can be a bit slippery when wet. I did not plan the walk and only had flip flops - I made it but would recommend good shoes. Lots of beautiful scenery, birds and monkeys in the trees, along the track and on the beach. There are boats that do returns back to the park headquarters, much cheaper to thumb a lift on the way back than organise at the beginning. Catch the 101 it takes you all the way to the park, the 101 bus rocks.

Got to be the best beach in Penang. Not easily accessible. Either via a 4km hike through Penang National Park or via boat. My advise hike over then boat back.

White sands. Blue waters. Not crowded. Can get hot but lots of shade around. One can spend hours here. Well maintained. Not safe for swimming due to jelly fish & rough tides so at your own risk.

Make sure to visit the turtle sanctuary at the end of the beach. Good initiative.

Beautiful beach and nice campground. We visited the turtle sanctuary at the end of the beach and helped release 15 babies! Watch out for monkeys. Non-Western toilets. Showers. Jellyfish in water. Would like to go back during wet season and swim in the lake.

If not mistaken, this is the smallest national park in the world! If you like to understand more, you can hire a tour guide to walk you thru. The turtle research centre situated is also a place where the turtles come lay eggs. On the beach, when you walked at you will notice why the turtles want to lay their egg here. The crystal type of sands and warmth beach that's suitable for turtle egg to hatch. If you are lucky, you get to see turtle middle of night come to lay eggs. Camping there was relaxing and close to nature, at night you can see shooting stars too.

It's like the hidden arena in a game where you'll need to do so much effort to unlock it. Took one and a half hours (extra 30minutes coz i took a lot of pics) to get here. But it was all worth it! Once you reach the red Pantai Kerachut bridge, you'll see the kerachut beach on the right and meromictic lake on the left. Both actually connected by the small river (or small strait? Dunno whay they called it) since it took effort to reach here, basically you'll have the beach+lake to yourself!

Great and easy hike trough the rainforest to turtle bay. The path is easy to follow and the forest itself is truly amazing! A bit more then an hour each way. And when you reach the beach it is truely rewarding for all your effort.

Turtle Beach

A good 90 minutes of hiking if you have kids,
there is a climb of 150 m elevation, with some in stone steps and some covered in red soil but assisted by a rope.

Trail is a wide 3 to 4 feet and there is only a single track, and certain sections are narrow. You will pass a few waterfall and small streams but you will encounter one big waterfall.

Not too muddy so no need for a boot but wise not to wear a slipper as there is no gripe.

Best to start your hike early in thr morning and enjoy a picnic lunch there with your own drinks and food, there are no stalls selling beverages and food at the brach.

Beautiful beach unspoilt by water sports and noisey caffes. This beach is where Turtles lay their eggs and the park staff collect the eggs in the early morning and transfer them to protected nursery. But can't swim here because of jellyfish. You can walk the 3.4 kms here from the park entrance over some steep hills or get a boat to take you here.

Beautiful and quiet beach. It is good for activities like reading a book, taking a nap or chatting with friends under the shade of a tree. Swimming or snorkling are not allowed due to poisonous jelly fish and unpredictable sea current. Don't forget to bring drinking water, light food and other necessities with you since there is NOWHERE to buy. If you don't want to go back via the trail (about 1.5 hours walk), you can hail and ride the motorboat operates on the beach. (It was about RM 80 for bringing us, group of 4, back to the entrance of national park in Feb 2019. The other group of 5 who boarded the same boat with us also charged for RM 80. Look like it was charged per group, not person).
