Cabañas Amaia

Wow! Amazing small (3 cabins in total), super private, surrounded by greenery. Close to the most sought out beach- Punta Cometa. Jullien, owner/host, who has lived there for over 20 years, is very knowledgeable about the area and gives great recommendations. The room and amenities are great. The pool is great escape. If tranquility is what youre after, come stay here.

Cabañas Amaia was wonderful, and we would highly recommend staying here. Ismelda, Julien, and Adriana were so hospitable, kind, welcoming, and just fun to chat with. The rooms are spacious and have a very private feel. The pool is lovely and you can use it late into the evening. The garden/grounds are beautiful and luscious. The location was perfect - quick walk to the main "business district" of Mazunte and directly across from the entrance to Punta Cometa (pro tip - go to cometa for the sunrise/dip in the natural jacuzzi). Overall, it was a wonderful place, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

There is a reason why this place has outstanding reviews ! It is that good the hosts are amazing , the cabana is spotless each has its own area , gardens are beautiful and safe gated accommodations . Great location as well 5 mins to a beach , 5 mins to the entry of Cometa and 5 mins down to the main strip. Nice people and very helpful . Highly recommended .

We really enjoyed our stay in Cabanas Amaia, so much so that we came back again after visiting Puerto Escondido. The Cabanas are very clean (cleaned every day) and set in a lush tropical garden. The Cabanas are designed in a vernacular style that naturally keeps them cool. The pool is also a great way to cool off! There is no paradise without bugs, and Mazunte is no exception. There are screens on the windows and a net over the bed that we used and had no issues.

Julien and Adriana were incredibly helpful, offering great suggestions on activities and places to eat. They also were very helpful in offering advice on transport and calling taxis for us, which was much appreciated with our limited Spanish.

We will definitely be recommending to friends who are traveling to Mazunte in the future. Thank you for having us.

We spent two wonderful weeks at Cabanas Amaia at the end of November 2022. The cabana was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hosts were friendly, delightful, and helpful. They made good recommendations for places to go and places to eat.

The location was great as it was on a hill close to town between 2 beaches.

We will most certainly stay there again when we return to Mazunte!

The location of Casa Amaia is perfect at the trail head for Punte Cometa, a 20 minute walk for sunrise or sunset. We saw whales in the morning. We walk 5 minutes downhill to excellent coffee and restaurants like Café Armadillo on Calle Riconcito. Going the other direction is the Mermejita beach. The cabañas are very special, designed in elegant simplicity with good craftsmanship. Each of 6 cabañas is enclosed in lush greenery providing privacy and relative silence. Excellent beds. Small pool for cool dips. Julien is a gracious and knowledgeable host, providing coffee in the morning.

Great place to stay in Mazunte. A quite and well designed compound. Clean, friendly. Don't hesitate.

Really nice super clean cabanas in a beautiful garden! It's a pleasure to come back to the cabanas after a long beach day :) Also, Julian the owner is really nice and helpful and makes the best breakfasts! I would definitely recommend if staying in Mazunte!!

Just a hidden gem in Mazunte, located right next to Punta Cometa and few mins from the main street. The cabins are so lovely surounded by a beautiful garden. Julien and Adriana will welcome you with open arms!! Such perfect hosts!! Do not hesitate to book your stay!!

The best place to stay in Mazunte.. Probably my favorite vacation experience ever, in terms of the lodging. Some of the highlights:

- Rare beautiful swimming pool in Mazunte.
- Delicious homemade breakfast with local fresh ingredients. Tons of fruit, delicious Oaxaqueno coffee, etc.
- Julien, the host, is simply amazing. It felt like he was a family member after 2 nights there.
- He also gave tons of great advice about Mazunte that we definitely wouldn't have known otherwise.

Overall, Cabanas Amaia completely exceeded my expectations. I'll definitely be returning to stay there soon! Thanks Julien :)

Lovely owner, perfect place to stay. Location is perfect and really quite. The bungalows are spacious and very nicely decorated. The bungalows are surrounded by plants, so it's a private atmosphere.

I enjoyed the 2 night stay at Cabañas Amaia. Great place, very clean and just we needed. No air conditioning but still worth it!

Julien a rendu notre séjour paradisiaque, il est idéalement situé à Mazunte, les cabanes sont propres et jolies, chacune d’entres elles a son intimité, c’est un véritable havre de paix. Julien est un hôte extrêmement professionnel et sympathique, il nous a conseillé pour trouver les meilleurs plans et rendre notre séjour unique je recommande a 1000%. Merci 🙏

Julien est l'hôte parfait. Il nous a aidé a trouver notre transport, nos activités. Avec ses conseils on a évité les foules et passé un super séjour a Mazunte. La cours est digne d'un jardin botanique!

Der beste Platz um in Mazunte anzukommen. Julien gibt einem mega coole Tips, sagt dir was die Preise für gewissen Aktivitäten sind und ist mega lässig. Am Abreise Tag hatten wir eine Wahl Tour und verspäteten uns mit dem Check Out --> wurde mit Verständnis und ohne Stress kommuniziert. Die Zimmer waren mega Sauber und das Personal super freundlich. Würde immer wieder kommen!
Der einzige Verbesserung wäre eine kleine Kochstation, wobei das Typ Sache ist. Ich koche eben sehr gerne :). Komme aber auch einfach so wieder :D !

Excelente, altamente recomendable. Lugar muy limpio, espacioso, todo lo que necesitas para desconectarte. Está justo en el camino a Punta Cometa, muy cerca. La alberca es deliciosa para refrescarte. Me encantó la privacidad y el host súper buena onda. Nos dió muy buenas recomendaciones.

Creo que las fotos no le hacen justicia a lo bonitas que son las cabañas. Son muy acogedoras, cómodas y con todo lo necesario para pasar una bonita estancia en Mazunte. Además de la hospitalidad de Julien y Adriana para recibirte, mantener tu cabaña impecable y darte consejos sobre qué visitar y cómo hacerlo.
La ubicación es excelente, están a unos pasos de Mermejita y Punta Cometa. La playa de Mazunte y San Agustinillo queda un poco más retirado pero no más de 15 minutos caminando.
