Went here on a little day trip from Zicatela and it was breathtaking. You truly feel like you are in a dream walking this hike during sunset; only about a fifteen twenty minute walk and it’s super worth it. If you have the chance definitely make it out here for a sunset walk.

It’s a beautiful place for a sunset, you have to do a 20 min hiking but the view is priceless even though it was little cloudy. I recommend be there at 5 in the afternoon and you can find a good place to sit and wait for the sunset, if you can carry a portable chair, I’ll be better. In the middle of the trail you’ll find a point for inspection of belongings and payment area, the payment is a voluntary amount. Alcoholic beverage are not allowed

So I don't know if it's just in season but I went twice and didn't got checked and no one asked me for a donation. (Just saying as everyone mentioned this) There's several routes to go there. I went the stairs up from the beach and I was literally having the whole area for myself. Definitely check out the beach to the right of Punta cometa and there's several more paths to walk and explore from there on.
Both times I went I didn't get a real sunset as it started to get cloudy therefore no sunset pictures.

Excellent place to watch the sunset. Wear shoes. Lots of rocks, ups and downs.

The locals argue that this is the best sunset view in the entire area. Definitely give yourself more time than you think because the hike is pretty steep and is not with physical disabilities. Heavenly brings sunscreen and bug spray because it is a jungle hike with incredible views and you can choose if you want to go to the beach or up to the point. Just be warned that it is extremely crowded and if you are trying to take a taxi have them drop you off a little bit farther so you can walk up because there is no turnaround and it's a very tiny uphill and poorly maintained roadJust be warned that it is extremely crowded and if you are trying to take a taxi have them drop you off a little bit farther so you can walk up because there is no turnaround and it's a very tiny uphill and poorly maintained road

We unfortunately missed the sunset by 5 minutes or so shovelling some food into us at a nearby restaurant but it was STILL beautiful so you know it’s an EZ 5 starz

Such a beautiful location to view a sunrise or sunset. It’s a nice little hike to the point where you have unobstructed views to the west and east. It’s a popular spot everyday, so be prepared for many other people.

BEAUTIFUL!!! If you're in Hutulco, Puerto Escondido or anywhere in between you should visit this place. It's an enormous rock that sticks out into the ocean and has hiking trails to the sacred site where the Aztecs celebrated equinox and solstice events. There's a tiny beach on the west side near the point. It's not safe to swim but you can get your feet wet (always keep an eye on the waves). At the point you can look out across the Pacific and there's another hill on the west side close to the entrance. From the second hill you have a spectacular view of Playa Mermejita and the rock formations beyond.

Amazing view. The path is really simple, but I always suggest wearing a pair of sport shoes.

Absolutely stunning place to enjoy a gorgeous sunset.

Seems they are now charging a 10 peso "minimum donation" which is new to me, so make sure you bring some cash. And fair warning, it's a pretty rough trail in places so be prepared for that as well.

Punta Cometa was our favourite place! We spent the day in Mazunte (super recommended as well) and an hour before the sunset we headed to Punta Cometa. There is a nice little hike that takes you to a cliff with beautiful views. Watching the sunset there was the highlight of my trip. You decide if you want to watch it from the cliff or walk down to Cometa Beach. Both breathtaking.

One of the most magical and unique places to see the sunset in Oaxaca. You
can definitely feel how special the place is once the sun starts to disappear behind the sea.

Beautiful space to watch the sunset. No alcohol beverages allowed, they will check your bags. Tips are not mandatory but recommended. Recommend!!!

Bring some cash for a donation at the entrance for the maintenance of the area. Don’t bring alcohol, as they will ask you to leave it at the entrance.

Bring water for the hike because it’s hot.

What a great hike! Be sure to bring extra water. The hill to get out of here is a tough one. But the experience is well worth it! There's hardly anyone out here on the private beach, so you can enjoy it with your Adventure Partner. You'll get a panoramic view from east to west. I imagine if you were out there for sunrise & stay all day, you could see sunset by just looking the opposite direction! Enjoy your hike!

Beautiful views and sounds. It is definitely worth the hike, which was not too long. Bring a decent pair of shoes since it is very rocky and dangerous to walk too close to the edges. I highly recommend to make the stop. Bring a flashlight since it gets pitch black.
