We stayed at Marboka for 5 nights and greatly enjoyed our stay. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant on the beach was a great option for food and drinks. It was also a short and inexpensive trip to the downtown and more active areas. The hotel also offers a public and pool and lounge area. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for an affordable hotel just outside of the main areas while still being easily accessible.

Wonderful hotel right on the water but the service we received from the staff, both at the hotel and the restaurant (associated with neighboring hotel) were amazing. Thanks to Dylan at the front desk who gave us a plethora of recommendations that we adored! The location is fab. You can walk to town (~1 mile) but it's winding roads or an adventurous trek along the beach. We appreciated being a short distance from ZR since it provided a more peaceful setting and grabbing a cab, the bus, or a car were easy. We spent most of our vacation south of the city or in ZR so the location was perfect for us. We had the panoramic suite and it did not disappoint! I would recommend this hotel and definitely stay again.

Puerto Vallartas best kept secret. Skip the tourist traps and stay 15 minute walk from downtown and stay in this boutique hotel right on the water. Reasonable price for incredible views and not to mention ourstanding service! Franco and his son run an outstanding operation making it hard to stay somewhere next time! No gym but a great restaurant and access to the beach.

Better than the photos.

One of the best places we've stayed at in PV. Slightly south of town in Conchas Chinas but there is a beautiful path along the beach that goes all the way into town if you're up for the 20min walk and/or a 100 peso cab back from the romantic zone or Centro.

I couldn't rate the staff any higher. They are amazing, always friendly and willing to help whenever. Definitely made our stay worth it.

Lots of little sandy cove style beaches in between the hotel and town, some only a short 5 min walk that are beautiful.
There is a restaurant not associated to the hotel directly beneath it for drinks or late night dinners (it's a little on the pricier side).

++ A big plus is the Oxxo convenience store literally a 2 minute walk down the road from the hotel, has groceries and basic food items.

Would absolutely stay again

Excellent customer service!
The view is amazing!
The beachfront is very nice and calm, perfect for kids and adults to enjoy.
The location is a little far from the romantic zone (old Vallarta) but you can take a bus to anywhere for only 10 pesos!

We loved our stay at Marboka! The price was amazing considering every room has an ocean facing balcony and it is exceptionally clean, with daily housekeeping. There are some quirks to consider that weren’t an issue for us, but others might want to know: 1. Every room is slightly different in terms of what you get/upgrades/etc.; 2. It’s a lot of stairs and no elevators, but people working always happy to help carry suitcases; 3. The beach directly in front of hotel is very small and disappears at high tide, but there’s a bigger one a two minute walk away; and 4. It is a quiet location well south of loud busy Zona Romantica or other areas. This was great for us, but did mean a lot of (cheap) Uber rides. There is also a taxi stand across the street that seemed to always have cabs available. It’s also walkable if you don’t mind hills.

So yes, you may find nicer and more convenient hotels in PV, but not for the value of Marboka.

We just spent 7 days at Marboka, and for a 3-star hotel it did not disappoint. Everything was incredibly clean and well maintained daily, we had the same lovely woman (Lorena) make up our room daily and take amazing care of us. Carlos and Franco at the front desk were super attentive and very friendly & helpful. Eliheio & Martin on the beach were also very attentive and gave great service. We stayed in room 307 and had an amazing view of the conchas chinas bay during sunrise/sunset right from our balcony. You can swim right off the beach out front in a small sheltered area and spend the day under palapas or in the sun. Higher up there is a beautiful viewing deck with lounge chairs, it’s often unused and a very quiet spot to enjoy views of the bay. The only thing to contend with off and on is a sewer smell in the room - it comes and goes. But we would definitely consider staying again if traveling to the area! The staff and location really made it a pleasant and beautiful visit. Gracias!

Lovely accommodations that are quite affordable! Franco and his son run the place and are very kind, and the convenience of the beachside restaurant is unbeatable. The area is quiet and well outside Zona Romantica but 7min taxi or bus ride (the bus is great and 10peso!) when you want to indulge in finer foods, drinks, or nightlife. The pool is great, and gets sun in afternoon, and beach is accessible at low tide. For another larger beach, Playa conchinas is 1min walk north from the restaurant. This place is just wonderful and where I'll be staying with trips back to PVR.

We booked this hotel through Airbnb and we had a wonderful experience. The hosts were very responsive and all the staff was friendly and helpful.
The location is great if you want to be far enough away from the business of the city, but a 5-10 minute Uber ride.

Excellent hotel with spectacular sea views and hot tub on the balcony (depending on the room). Very attentive service and bottled water on every floor. Note that there is no breakfast included but there is a very good restaurant down the stairs to the beach. The pool was small and often crowded and the patio only has 2 loungers but this didn’t trouble us as the beach was close. Playa conchitas is tiny but the main beach is a short walk, if along a busy road. Would highly recommend - as long as you are able to walk a lot of steps!

Love this place. Hotel has recently been renamed to Hotel Marboka so there might be a little confusion there.

Staff are all very friendly and willing to help all guests out. Chico also helped me out locating my mobile phone that fell out my pocket and I inadvertently left in a taxi.

The hotel is very clean and well taken care of. Our room was recently renovated and came with a hot tub on the deck. Bed was very comfortable. Also there’s a small refrigerator and microwave in the room.

Best part are the views from the deck. You pretty much have a view of the entire bay complete with palm trees. Not to mention a stunning beach.

There are two restaurants nearby, one on the beach the other at the top next to the highway. Both restaurants are associated with Lindo Mar resort. So there’s no charging to the room. But the restaurants do take cards.

Thanks to all the staff at the hotel for making our stay so comfortable.

Absolutely beautiful location (close to Centro and Zona Romantica but far enough away to avoid excessive nighttime noise) with a lovely, warm and welcoming staff. The suits vary quite a bit, so check out the options that they offer. I loved the private jacuzzi bath on my balcony with a beautiful view of palm trees and the ocean!

Loved everyone and everything! Our views were amazing, being right on a secluded beach was what I wanted! Great service with 2 restaurants on the property. Lounge chair and beach towel service. You can snorkel right from this beach too.
My girls and I loved it and felt so safe and relaxed.

A very special place. Even with eyes closed the ambiance is wonderful - palms fronds rustling in the breeze, birds bleating in the trees, waves breaking on the rocks, live music electrifying weekend nights.. oh, and the aromas from the restaurants above and below. I just wanted that sliding door open any time we were in the room! The view from our balcony was hard to beat! Los Arcos and the Mountains trimming the blue horizon to the south and more mountains and city lights as far as you could see to the north. Some palms and banyan trees sway and shiver in front of the water and rocks out front - boats pass day and night. The vista is framed by tiled roofs and cupolas up and down the hillsides around. An exotic mix of nature and architecture. Truth is it could've been a dump of a room and I could have looked past that but the room was very nice! The beds were comfortable, there were pretty tiles on the wall and in the bathroom, there was a reading lamp, it was clean, there was air conditioning and television. The wifi was weak and we could've used more towels and a bedspread but for a family of four to be comfortable in one room with two double beds is remarkable! There was even a little fridge and gas burners and dishes but I had no desire to cook on vacation - especially with two restaurants a couple flights of stairs away! We LOVED the restaurant on the beach, by the way, and it was so nice to be served under our palapa during the day. We never had to leave the sand to get a drink or lunch! The beach at the hotel was small but felt large enough for everyone there - even on Sunday when local families came to spend the day. There were three openings I the rocks for swimming and the snorkeling was good- we saw many fish and even an eel. My youngest son delighted in the tide pools on the rocks - each its own world of sea life. The front desk attendants were so helpful- getting us cabs and arranging covide testing right there in the beautiful open air lobby. In just a few minutes we could be whisked into to the romantic zone for five dollars or less. As far as the kids perspective, they honestly preferred the large timeshare resort we had stayed at the week prior because of the sprawling pools and grounds, the gym, the larger room and mostly because there were people their age with whom to play, but my husband and I definitely fell harder in love with Conchas Chinas. We were confused upon arrival because of the name change to Marboka but some googling and asking around in the cab landed us at this wonderful destination. Warning - if you aren't fit for stair climbing this place is probably not for you. We can't wait to return!

Hotel Playa Conchas Chinas
Overall I would argue to give this hotel 5 stars, with most of the “cons” being preference-related rather than true negatives to the place. I would stay here again if coming back to PV.
Pros: quiet, peaceful retreat; our room had a king size bed and a jacuzzi on a balcony overlooking the ocean; staff were wonderful and very helpful; two restaurants close by (one up a flight of stairs and one down 5 flights) had great food, prices, and staff; price of hotel was very reasonable; a parrot came to our balcony!; bed was comfortable; very clean/housekeeping was prompt and thorough; refrigerator in room; safe in room; staff at the hotel had a doctor come to the hotel to do a COVID test for us on a weekend (1000 pesos each/$50 USD); easy access to taxis as one would almost always be waiting on the street outside the hotel; there was AC and a ceiling fan in the room, plus option to open entire wall of windows onto the balcony for a sea breeze; great view of the ocean and we could hear the waves from our balcony; rainfall shower head in the shower
Cons: no coffee maker in the room or food/coffee offered by the hotel; toilet and shower doors were see-through (minimal privacy); Ubers are not very accessible from hotel but okay to take back from downtown; lots of people didn’t think it existed - not well known by local taxi drivers (you might have to show them on your phone where to go); lots of stairs to get to the hotel/anywhere in the hotel - not accessible for some; not a lot within walking distance (2 restaurants and OXXO, otherwise you will need a taxi)

The last two times we've been to P.V. this has been our home. The staff is attentive and very considerate. The location is south of the city center in a neighborhood on a a hillside. Frequent, inexpensive bus service makes it convenient to city center. It's a small property with ocean view rooms. Love their beach front restaurant plus the restaurant on top. Folks with mobility issues be aware there are steps due to location. We definitely would stay there again.

So fun to experience different parts of PV! The views are stunning as are the beaches. The only draw back is there are many stairs to get to beach. We did not mind since we needed to walk off the many Margiritas we drank😁
