The Grand Mayan Vidanta

This trip was awesome. The staff around the resort are extremely nice and helpful, the Bakal is excellent food. The Joy squad are fun and love their job. The shuttle service was nice as well. The biggest problem is the location. It’s about 30 miles from the city and we didn’t have a car so it was pretty difficult and pricy to travel back and forth. The road also isn’t the best, but I know they’re working on it. Views are amazing.

Awesome starts the moment you walk through the entrance with an indigenous welcome that's transports you to another realm that is hauntingly beautiful.

Can't say enough about the staff. From the bellboy to room attendants; activities to golf course; to pool bar to executive chef staff at Vidanta hit service and expectations out of the park.

From trivia night to poolside games to world class golf to walking a pristine beach - there is always something to do.

Very large resorts with attractive rooms nicely done. Except this, everything is very far. You need a shuttle to go to the pool, but the service is excellent highly recommended to bring family friends.

We have stayed here for a couple days now and the staff is extremely friendly from the cleaning staff to bartenders. We have participated in all the activities and enjoyed them everything from Casino night with Edgar, volleyball with Denies and Bingo with Diego. They have all been amazing. Hands down a great family environment. Christopher and Rogelio were extremely concerned when mu little one got a bug bite and made sure she felt at ease

The Joy Squad here at Vidanta Puerto Penasco is outstanding, so friendly and willing to make the time here poolside so much fun and enjoyable!! Edgar taught me how to play two new cards games, Texas Hold Em and Black Widow! They speak great English and are helping me with increasing my Spanish vocabulary as well. Love my time with the Joy Squad! They also cater the music to my taste when I am poolside down by the beach!

This place really knows how to make you feel like you are special from the moment you walk into the lobby.
I have to give thumbs up to Joy Squad Member Edgar for his charming attitude, and leadership skills, he has a lot of enthusiasm, and makes everyone around him feel a part of the activity. I will definitely be coming back!

The customer service is phenomenal, the rooms, unbelievable awesome. We will most certainly be back!!!! Thank you for all the memories..

We enjoyed our 2 week stay. The activities at the Joy Club were very educational, entertaining & delicious. The Joy Club staff are the best.

We participated in aqua aerobics, guacamole class, ceviche class, tortilla class, pizza class and more. We loved the variety of activities & will be back soon.

This is our fifth visit and we will keep coming back! The resort offers activities we enjoy, like beach and water volleyball, pickleball, beach tennis, and a variety of other things. The Joy Squad are great facilitators. Thank you to Edgar, Dennis, Samantha, and others.
I LOVE that you have sprinklers to cool the sand for volleyball!! That was huge!!
The waiters are helpful and courteous.
Our cleaning person, Cristina, left the cutest towel designs in addition to making the room good as new again.
A few requests:
1. Please heat more of the small pools again. Maybe add signs so families who don't want their kids in there can know which ones to avoid.
2. I'd love to sit in a chair in the water on the raised shallow sections of the pool. Is this possible?
3. Please be sure to check songs before playing them at the pool in front of children. T-Pain's "Take Your Shirt Off" was one of the ones that was surprising and disappointing to hear. Thank you!

The experience with the joy squad personal enhanced our experience even more with the fun classes offered. The tamale making class
the tortilla class, ceviche was excellent and the guacamole Edgar 5 stars great coordinator of Joy Squad and lots of fun.

Our favorite place! We have 7 kids & each had a blast. They played volleyball in the pool, bingo, corn hole, made cupcakes, did ceramics, and so much more. Kids area was so fun too for 3 of our kids under 10.

We had an amazing time with all the activities at The Gran Mayan. We were very pleased with Edgar. He truly stood out and worked very hard to keep the party going. We enjoyed his company and would like to commend him on a job well done!

My family and I have been coming to the Grand Mayan for 15+ years and the pool servers and activity staff are the best! Edgar and Denis plan great activities like water aerobics, volleyball, pickle ball, corn hole and card games. There is always something to do, no matter your age or activity level.

We've been members here over 20 years. So many good things to say about it. Like anything, I've got some complaints but minor in terms of the overall experience. We always finish saying it's MEXICO. Caution... They do play games with the exchange rate ... I'm not cheap, but don't tell me your going to charge me $50, and then charge me $62. That's what happened with golf. I put it on my room and then when i paid the bill the exchange rate made the golf $62 per round rather than $49. I put everyone's golf on my room, so it was a big deal. When i argued they told me that the golfs exchange rate was better but since i ran out through the hotel room i have to accept their rate. So frustrated and angry.

Great location for a vacation. Had a lot of fun with Edgar from the joy squad activity center. Made my experience a lot better being able to participate in activities. Will be coming back for sure!

The best place to go for a vacation. It has activities for all ages, the rooms are amazing and clean, and the service was amazing. Edgar from the joy squad was such a fun time. I will be going again.

Our stay was very pleasant! The resort was very nice but the one person that made it a 5 star review for us was Edgar! He was very friendly and kept great attention to detail!

We stayed at the Mayan for a week by end of summer as part of our yearly family vacation; this is the 4th time we stay at the Mayan (previously at Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlán).
We traveled this time with a couple of our kids and we had an awesome time.
The food was really good, a little expensive, but the taste, temperature and service overall was just GREAT!
Regarding the pools, location and general services, they were just fantastic!
Me and my family highly recommends the Mayan resorts… Hope this helps 😀

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful resort. The staff at Bakal was amazing-Carlos, Arturo, Omar and Fabian all made sure our meals were perfect and were professional and attentive. The Joy Squad made every day fun and special. Mariana always greeted us with an enthusiastic smile and made sure that the whole family got involved in activities and that we always had something to do, even when the weather wasn’t great. Samuel was always up for a game of ping pong or volleyball with the kids and even shared his magic tricks with our youngest. Highly recommend this resort because of the great staff!
