Kalaw View Point Cafe

You will reach there after driving the bad road for 20mins, beside the Nhee Phaya (နှီးဘုရား). (Note: If you want to go there in rainy eason, you should think THRICE. It will be slip road.)
This view point place is so called "Palaung Taung" (ပလောင်တောင်) by local people. Actually, worth to visit than "Yay Yaung Ma" viewpoint.
Entrance fee is 1000mmk per person. Just for entrance, can't exchange with soft drink or something like that.

Another awesome view point outside of Kalaw city. There is a 10-minute walking distance from the car parking area to the view point. A good way to do light mini-trekking in the green environment.

On the way up, you will see some shops selling local produced oranges, tea leaves, pickle tea leaves and some Palao ethnic souvenirs, as well as orange plantation. The famous Aung Ban oranges are produced from these plantation areas. You can also buy or rent Palao costume to take photo in the orange plantations.

The café is at the top of the view point where you can enjoy a cup of nice coffee with picturesque Shan plateau scenery. All you need to do is sit there and let the nature bring you to the horizon.

Tips: Don't go there in the evening. If you want to see the sunset, better go earlier, say 2 pm. Even the weather is not sunny, the foggy scenery is also worth a visit.

This viewpoint is accessed down a pretty rough 6 km dirt road from the town of Kalaw. They try to charge foreigners 2,000 kyat for access but I went twice and just ignored the signs and nobody hassled me. I did try to buy a beer but unfortunately it was warm and I cannot drink one beer!

Hard to get there by motorcycle cuz it’s extra muddy and extra slippery ... but the top view and the warm food + cold beer was worth all the hard work

In 2021 Dec, the roads are repairing and dusty.But the view is so so great that can forget your tiredness

Had lunch here during the trekking from Kalaw to Inle Lake. Their chapati with lentil curry is amazing. As is their avocadosalad. 😍
