We had a 2 days trek with Ko Kyaw Kalaw Trekking around Kalaw last week, and our experience was fantastic!! Definitely one of the highlights of our stay in Myanmar.

We spent a lot of time searching for a guide / agency that would bring us off the beaten track (since Kalaw area is busy with trekking), and we found it with Ko Kyaw => we met him the day before our trek start: he was very reactive by email, and he came to our hotel to meet us and explain our trek options.
Ko Kyaw was very attentive to our wishes (we wanted to add some villages to the plan and he adapted the trek and made it longer).

The food along the trek was really good (thanks to the chef). And we spent the night in a Da Nu tribe village, with the house owner and his family.

Our guide Koko was great (nice, friendly, with lots of explanations about Myanmar culture and Kalaw area).

Highly recommended!!

My guide, Ko Saw knows this place very well and knows a lot about plants and Myanmar culture. He’s very nice guy, help us everything. The stunning scenery made this trek great experience we'll never forget!

We had a 2 days trekking from Kalaw to Inle Lake. The trekking was adventrous, but we had thousands of fun. Not only the scenery was breathtakingly amazing, all the people we met on our journey were so friendly and kind! We were really surprised that we had so much unforgettable experiences there!

Our guide, chi-chi and chilong, they were so thoughtful. Netherless to say, they took great care of us. We were really appreciate that! Besides, the CEO was amazing as well, he tried his best to take care of us while we took a long-trip night bus to Kalaw. We can see he is a very mindful person from so many details. While I wrote him an email to ask the trekking, he gave me all the informations as possible, including the schedules and the things we need to prepare.

In sum, this is an awesome trip while we were in Myanmar! Don't miss this awesome experience while you visit Myanmar, especially Kalaw!

Ko Kyaw provided us a specially designed tour just perfect for our whole family! We spent 2 days trekking through Pa-o and Danu villages around Kalaw and enjoyed such beautiful scenery; hiking both ridge lines and through agricultural fields. Our guide CoCo had lots of information about the local agricultural and Flora and fauna and made it really interesting for the kids. He was able to create a trip where young and old alike found much to enjoy. Lunch's were also delicious and prepared in local houses. The best part was that we were able to go well of the heated path and into villages that often didn't see tourists! Thanks to Ko Kyaw and CoCo for a great time.

We did a 2-day trekking tour around Pindaya, starting in Kalaw, organized by Ko Kyaw
and with Kyaw Min as the trekking guide, which was probably the highlight of our entire trip in Myanmar. Since we were arriving in Kalaw by bus at 4am and didn't have any booked accommodation, Ko Kyaw kindly offered himself to pick us up and let us stay at his home, where we slept for a couple of hours and were presented with a wonderful breakfast in the morning. Ko Kyaw and his family were so nice, generous and welcoming that only for the opportunity of getting to know them, we were already so pleased! Then we met Kyaw Min, the most intelligent, kind, knowledgeable and sweet guide ever (and also an amazing cook! Incredible avocado and tomato salad!), who took us around Pindaya for 2 days, showing us beautiful landscapes, teaching us everything about the crops, Myanmar history, Buddhism and basically everything we wanted to know about (we ask a lot of questions!). We passed by several PaO and Danu tribes and learned a lot of their culture. During those 2 days we haven’t seen a single tourist. We had the pleasure of sleeping in Kyaw Min family’s home and meeting his family (parents, brother, sister, brothers-in-law and nephews). Having dinner with them and spending the evening asking each other’s questions, with Kyaw Min as interpreter, was one of the most incredible experiences of our lifes. We also woke up and watched a stunning sunrise in a monastery at the top of the village, after which we met the local monk who kindly invited us to come back whenever we wanted to. We really recommend doing this trip with Ko Kyaw/Kyaw Min, highlighting that we felt around Pindaya the beautiful landscapes, villages, people and the whole experience were much more authentic and less touristic than the Kalaw-Inle route we did a few days later with another company. However, if you prefer the Kalaw-Inle tour, please arrange it with Ko Kyaw and Kyaw Min, you will have an unique and unforgettable experience. Thank you Ko Kyaw and Kyaw Min!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
We are 2 backpackers from France & the Netherlands and we went on a 2 days trekking with Ko Kyaw Kalaw. The trip was one of the best memories that we have of Myanmar.

Koko (our guide) has so much knowledge and positive energy, we had many good conversations about different topics in life while we were walking trough incredible nature! Koka was extremly helpfull and friendly, he even borrowed me his shoes because mine seemed way to small, woops :|

We had a lot of fun together, saw beautiful mountains, rice fields, flowers and local people on our way. We hardly saw other tourist, which made the trip even more exclusive.

The night we stayed at a lovely homestay in the middle of the jungle. Koka carried fish, vegetables & fruit in his backpack (the whole hike) which we used for lunch at a peaceful spot with an amazing view. In the evening we cooked the fish at the homestay and the mom of the family prepared the most delicious meal ever wauw all so fresh and tasty! The family was super welcoming and happy to host us. Their house is lovely, surrounded by huge bamboo trees, kids and chickens :) playing in the fields.

After the hike we had beers together to close down the adventure. Many thanks again for this unforgettable memory!

We highly recommend everyone to go on a trip with Ko Kyaw Kalaw trekking.

All the best, love from Alice & Lotte.

My huaband and I did a 2-night trek from Kalaw to Pindaya. Ko Kyaw was very good at communicating with us,responding quicky to emails, meeting us the night before to provide information, and introducing us to our guide on the morning of the trek.

Our guide, Kyaw Min, was very kind and helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the area, the farming community and the plants, fruits and vegetables that we saw, being a farmer as well as a guide. He was also a brilliant cook. The second night we spent with his sister's family and had a lovely evening with his extended family.

Thank you for a wonderful experience in and around Kalaw!

Great service. Beautiful routes. Perfect for experienced trekkers and inexperienced ones (like us)! We did a half-day trek to Yay-Aye-Kan water reserve and it was amazing! The guide was so knowledgable of the ecosystem and explained so much along the way. Non-judgmental (like he's super chill and soft-spoken if we wanted frequent rest stops), so kind and caring. Loved every minute of it. Would totally recommend and would totally go back! I mean just look at the view! Totally better than the typical 'view points'.

It was a really nice experience with Kokyaw. The trekking during the rainy season can be slippery but really green and you can observe all the rice fields and differents cultures (cauliflowers, tomatoes, pees...) with the farmers in the fields.
Kokyaw came to our hotel to explain our trip with a map. We made the 2 days one night trek, 18 kms the first day et 13 the second.
He's nice, a good cook, speaks well english and explain everything.
We slept in an adorable farmer family.
We recommand the trek.

Received very excellent service for trekking and the trekking guide is very professional. He shared the knowledge on flora and fauna with us and we extremely enjoyed our full day trekking. We recommend going trekking in Kalaw and you won’t regret.

Ko Kiaw managed to organize for us an off the beaten track itinerary ; amazing landscapes all along the way, crossing isolated villages and discovering Pa-Oh traditions and culture. We did not meet any other tourist during the trek, which is quite rare in the area, as Ko Kiaw recently opened new routes on the way from Kalaw to Inle. On top of that, we had a wonderful guide, Ko Zaw, who knew it all about plants, animals and local beliefs and legends. Food was also fantastic, thanks to our great cook. We strongly recommend Ko Kiaw's agency

We did a 3 days 2 nights trekking trip with ko kyaw kalaw trekking in mid november 2019 from kalaw to pindaya. Before starting we got detailed information about our trip with ko kyaw meeting us in person with a map talking us through the route. A list with necessary equipment was provided as well as transportation of  heavy luggage to our destination. He also booked a bus ticket for us and we were dropped off at the bus station on the last day. Our guide ko zaw was very nice with really good command of english language, excellent knowledge of plants and agriculture in the area, perfect navigation skills even on parts where no path was visible to us. He answered all of our questions detailed and honestly. Ko zaw also was responsive to our request of reducing time spent on broader roads and on top of that a very good cook of vegetarian food. All in all it was really an off the beaten track experience with no other tourists staying in the same villages as we did. Staying overnight at local families houses was very nice as well. Trekking was considerably expensive but worth every kyat of it! We got to know a lot about myanmar culture especially by talking with our guide and spending time at the family homes. We would definetely recommend trekking with ko kyaw. The visit of pindaya cave at the end fitted perfectly into our travel itinirary too. Thank you for 3 amazing days!

Amazing 4 day trek from Pindaya to Kalaw and then Kalaw to Inle Lake. Our guide, Tun, was fantastic throughout: explaining everything to us in detail and allowing us an intimate look into real rural Myanmar life. Cant recommend the agency, the hike or our guide enough: from start to finish they were professional and seemless in organising.

The hike itself was truly a once in a lifetime experience: starting from Pindaya, rather than the more popular option of Kalaw, allowed us to really get off the beaten trail. As this route is very rarely trekked by tourists, you get a very unique experience: all of the locals we met were incredibly kind and inviting: we shared a number of green teas in local houses and monasteries. The scenery is spectacular throughout and well worth the extra day. On top of all of that, the food cooked by the chef the tour organised was delicious and fresh every day. We even went to a local market one day to select food for our evening meal. 10/10 - strongly recommend!

Our friend recommended Ko Kyaw's trekking tour and we are so glad we booked with him. Ko Kyaw was warm and welcoming. He is knowledgable and helped us learn more about the ethnic groups that populate the Shan State. He organized our stay in villager's homes which allowed us to see first hand the daily lives of such warmhearted and hard working people. As the the trek, Ko Kyaw did a splendid job planning it out and adjusting the pace to our capibalities. Of course, the scenery was breathtaking. We would highly recommend trekking with Ko Kyaw as he is a remarkable guide and a wonderful person.

The trekking 2 days 1 night from Kalaw to Inle lake was unforgetable with our guide, Kyaw Min. He knew how to adapt the trekk to our whishes. We walked using non touristic path and didn't almost cross any tourist, even in the high season. The landscape was incredible and the meeting with local people and different tribes was very interesting. Kyaw Min answered to all our questions in a perfect english and explain us during the trekking everything about the lifestyle and believes of Myanmar people. We also learn a lot about farmers and medicinal plants we saw in the way. The food was georgious! Thank you so much for this experience and hope to see you again!

The trek from Kalaw to Pindaya was amazing. We never saw any other tourists. The villages we passed were clearly rarely touristed. The children were excited to see us and would wave happily. Despite being the dry season and post harvest, the countryside plantations were beautiful, and we were able to see mandarin, tea, avocado, and mustard crops. The landscape varied as we progressed through the countryside. Ko Zaw was very knowledgeable about both the region and farming, having grown up in the area himself. He was a great companion who made us feel relaxed and told interesting stories about his life. The cook, Ko King, was very funny and made delicious food every meal. Accommodations were simple and authentic homestay experiences. After arriving in Pindaya we visited the limestone cave, had lunch, and were dropped off at the bus station to Inle Lake. This was a great, peaceful, non-touristy alternative to the hugely popular Kalaw to Inle Lake trek.

Thank you very much "ko kyaw" for the incredible journey through the valley, up the mountain to show us four different tribes of Myanmar. We had a warm experience with the hill tribe people and the hard trekking. one of the most intense trek in South - East - Asia and the food was high class as in the 5 star restaurant. We will never forget the smile of your people, hospitality, kindness and innocence. This was one of the most important trip in our lives. We hope see you again when we visit in Kalaw. Thank you very much for all your explanations.

We did an extraordinary 3 days trekking with Ko Kyaw. He is passionate about his job and puts you at ease from the first minutes you talk with him. He works for a responsible tourism, for the development of the villages of the region and for the education of children. You'll appreciate his kindness and authenticity, we have exchanged with him on all possible subjects. He will teach you a lot, whether it's about wildlife or the history of the country.

At each meal, his cook was waiting for us in the village where we were going to eat. The food is healty and excellent. Special mention for the amazing avocado salad, and for french fries.

The Kalaw area is beautiful, but accompanied by Ko Kyaw this trekk has become truly unforgettable. Thank you!!
