A1 Trekking Services

We did a 2 days 2 nights trekking around Kalaw, crossing several villages, sleeping in homestays and having amazing food! We are very happy we the experience and how well everything was organized, specially because we decided last minute to start the trekking the same afternoon we arrived to Kalaw.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE.
We had our 3 most incredible days in Myanmar doing the trek kalaw to Inle with A1.
We booked a private guide for 2 to be able to go at our rythme and ask every questions to him. And this is definitely worth it...
Our guide Yé Linn has been incredible, he spoke perfectly english, he was able to answer to all our questions and he showed us so many things on the way. I would like again to thank him for this trip as it could not have been better.
The food is also amazing, our chief Ku Chit prepared local dishes with all his heart and it was really good...
Sanlinn the manager was also really responsive by email before the trek and everything went smooth on the organisation. What I liked also is that they really don't want to be the biggest company or to do the trek whatever the conditions. For example they don't take group bigger than 6 which allow you to immerge yourself with the population compared to a 12 people one which looks really invasive in a small village...
People in Myanmar are really kind and it i amazing to see that if you dare to discuss, smile, they will give you back 1000 times.
So thanks again Yé Linn and Ku Chit, it was again incredible and we strongly recommend A1.

Our guide Momo is very capable. We had 3 very enjoyable days trekking with him. A1 provides a cook for each trekking group. The cook rides a motorcycle to reach our lunch and dinner destinations ahead of us.

Our guide was fantastic, places where we staying spot on. Highly recomended.

Had a great 2 day trek with A1 led by our guide, AP. He was so warm and friendly and super knowledgeable. He knows pretty much everything there is to know about Myanmar and explains in a lovely way, while always looking out for his group (there was 4 of us including me). Great experience with A1 overall as well - they even came to our hotel the evening before for a debrief. Use this company and special request AP as your guide, he’s the best.

Booked a 3 day trek with A1. Unfortunately I got sick on the morning of the 2nd day. They were super professional about it, got us back to Kalaw on motorbikes quickly, and gave us a partial refund. I was so sad we couldn’t finish the trek because our guide was amazing. Seriously— everything you could want from a guide! Great English, taught us about the plants and animals, explained local customs and practices, taught us to speak some Myanmar. They were a tiny bit more expensive than other companies, but we met people who went with different companies and said their guides didn’t speak great English, or their groups were 8+ people. A1’s max group size is 6. Just book with these guys- they’re great.

We did a 2 days trekking from Kalaw to Inle lake. Honestly, the best part of our trip in Myanmar! The landscapes were beautiful, everything was green because it was the end of the rainy season. We ate incredibly good and so much. But the best part of the trekking was our guide Yu Yu, who gave us a lot of information and helped us in everything always with her sweet smile and her sense of humor. Thank you very much Yuyu!

I’ve done a 2-day trekking to Inle. The price is higher than all the other agents but the service was very nice. Our guide Austin is very good and I enjoy the trekking a lot. The food was outstanding!

We had a wonderfull 3 days 2 nights trekk with our amazing guie Piké. The route was various, the food was great and ample. We stayed with the local farmers which was nice and a really good experience for us!

The guide (Pk) was really helpful smart and inteligent. He showed us a lot of locals things and explained the local practices.

Excellent trekking services. Perfectly enjoyed our 2N3D experience. Our guide Sam was an absolutely great in introducing the different tribal cultures and farming practices.

Really had an amazing trekking! We had a really good tour guide named Yellin, his English was also very good. The food during the trekking was very tasteful, they have their own chef that prepares your breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was even better than in some restaurants.

We definitely recommend the A1 trekking company! When you're not used to walking a lot, the 2 days trekking is enough.

Even before the trek A1 came to our hotel and went through a briefing to answer any last minute questions we might have.

The trek itself was not difficult. The views were great but more impressive than the views was information that our guide was able to share.

Throughout our 3 day / 2nt trek we learned a great deal about the lives of the local villagers and the agriculture.

We had great food prepared by a great chef and slept in home stays.

Our guide really went out of his way to make sure we had a good time. He really showed that he cared.

Small group (5ppl), very good food, perfect guide.

I went on a one day hike around Kalaw together with a friend. It was only the two of us and the guide from A1. It was really nice to be such a small group and the price was the cheapest of the hiking companies. However did does not mean it was a budgeted hike. We got a splendid lunch with the most beautiful view and the guide from A1 was very good in English and learned us more about Myanmar culture than we could ever have imagined! Would (and have)recommend them to everyone going to Kalaw for hiking :-)

I had a fantastic time on the trek. Our guide Laa Su (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) was great. Super informative, funny and kind. He took great care to ensure we were all enjoying ourselves and to encourage us when there was a huge hill or at the end of the day. He has a difficult job, to balance the needs, preferences and fitness levels of different people while ensuring that we get to where we need to be by sunset, and he did this very well.

The food was excellent all throughout the trip and portions were huge. The homestays were basic (mattresses on the floor, bucket showers etc) but we were informed of this when we booked. It was a real privilege to get to see a different side of Myanmar.

There were times that I thought the pace was a bit rushed, and I would have liked to stop and look at the view, but I think that was more down to the rest of our group than the guide.

As a solo traveler, I would advise other people by themselves to make sure they are in a group of 5 or 6. I would imagine that trekking just with one other couple could be lonely. I was in a group of 5 and enjoyed the vibe and getting to know the other trekkers.

One suggestion for A1 is to sell trekking gear. A lot of us decide to do a trek with short notice, and so don't have the clothes or gear we need. Its actually really hard to find decent clothes and small backpacks in Kalaw (compared to other trekking towns like Sapa in Vietnam). If you sold clothes and gear, I think you'd make a fair amount of money and it would be super helpful to your clients.

Overall, I had a great time and would recommend A1 trekking to anyone! Thanks again!

Fantaaaaaastic trek with Elias! We did the 3D/2N to Inle and it didn’t disappoint. Elias is a fantastic, funny, goofy, intelligent man that shared so much about the land we were crossing and Myanmar as a whole. We had a great time with our small group of hikers (5). The food (shout out to Mr. Cook) is amazingly good, and there is so much of it that we were stuffed each day. Totally worth it. Two hiker friends got sick (from a meal previous to the trek, in Kalaw) and they took care of them brilliantly by transporting them with the motorbike when needed.

I think what this trek from Kalaw to Inle lake makes so specials is 20% the landscape, 30% the villages and people and 50% your guide.
The guide explains you everything about the culture, the nature, some traditions, the school system, politics or whatever you ask him. It’s just great to get to know this country better.
Our guide was Sithu and it was just amazing how big his knowledge was and how fascinated he was about sharing it with us. We truly enjoyed our tour and it is an eyeopener to experience how the villagers in this area live as you will live the same way. So don’t expect normal toilets, king size beds and warm showers.
Again I can not be thankful enough to Sithu for making this trek so interesting and great.
I really think that having a good guide is the most important thing on this trek.

We did a 3 days/2 nights trek between Kalaw and Inle lake and it was a great experience ! Our guide Han was really nice and our chief made us fabulous food for breakfast, lunch and diner. A1 agency is very helpful and works with professionalism, I highly recommand it.

My sister and I did a day trek about a year ago and absolutely loved it! These guys did a great job from start to end, and even had a place for us to store our luggage. Shout out to our guide Momo who was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend!
