Gongju National Museum

A very good museum. Dedicated primarily to the Baekje period, there are several artifacts of great importance and majesty in the museum. The storage annex, opened just last year, is also beautiful & full of thousands of artifacts from the region.

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the museum after slightly disappointing trips to Gongsanseong Fortress and the Royal Tombs. English descriptions are included on most displays. Museum is small compared to mega museums in big cities, but well curated.

Contains mostly jewelries, kitchen utensils and swords of previous kings and family.

Gongju National Museum manages and preserves the cultural treasures excavated from northern Chungcheongnam-do. It takes special care of cultural treasures discovered at the Muryeong Royal Tomb in 1971. The Muryeong Royal Tomb is the tomb of King Muryeong (501-523) from the Baekje Period, and his queen consort. You can view most of the relics from the tomb at the museum.

Very interesting place with lots to see we only visited one of the 3 levels because we were tired already but this one was great alone. Seeing all the ancient relicts is awesome.

This is an excellent museum if you like archeology/ anthropology and learning about the pottery, tools, jewelery, and weapons the people of the Korea used 2,000 years ago.

Not too large, but can get a quite informative knowledge about BAKJE, old kingdom.
