Dongjak Kyunghee Hospital

I severely twisted my left ankle, rupturing all outer tendons and was rushed to this hospital as it was the closest. The doctor in charge, Doctor Ahn Seungjun, did an amazing job performing surgery on my ankle and checked up on me at least once a day for my two week stay. He is very kind and speaks passable English. He is very experienced and understands patient needs.

Please note, any Americans visiting Korea and winding up as an inpatient. Hospitals don't work quite the same way. Nurses and doctors are here to make sure you are healthy, but beyond that you are on your own. Going to the bathroom, even if you are immobile, getting a change of clothes, changing bedsheets and blankets, etc. are all your own duties. There are services in Korea to hire nurses that will wait on you, much like we are accustomed to in the US. Food is supplied, three meals a day, but you fetch your own water.

However, the nurses at this hospital seemed inexperienced in their job. They would fumble putting IV lines into my veins three or four times before succeeding, or would have to stab me with a needle two or three times before getting it right, apologizing the whole time. They were constantly adjusting my IV flow pace and in general didn't seem to know what they were doing sometimes. Maybe my complexion was confusing for them. This is the only thing holding back from a 5 star experience.

직원들 조금 불친절함. 입원실 지저분함. 요즘 병원들 그렇지만 여기도 건강검진에 주력한 느낌. 검진시 탈의실 너무 좁아서 불편함.
