Such a great place for little trinkets, souvenirs, and delicious street food. I loved going through the alleys and shopping. There's a lot of clothes, luggage, and odds and ends. I recommend having some hotteok!

This outdoor market is an expansive market with hundreds of storefronts with a huge variety of products. You can find yourself spending hours just seeing all of the things the vendors have to offer. I love the street food like the sweet cakes, the red bean buns, and the dumplings. There are also indoor stores and amazing food opportunities. Be ready for a little chaos if you come here, but it will absolutely be worth a visit!

This place is cool. The vendors are nice. Not pushy and very helpful. I found all items priced but I was given a discount so I’m sure you could haggle. There is so much to see inside and out. The aisles are tight inside but there things to buy on all four levels. I bought a baseball hat and some jewelry.

Omg! So so much to see look and browse around. So many great items to buy as souvenir. Just prepare enough money for it. From clothing, to beads, to brooch, to all those magnets, any type you want or you like. Just look for it.

One reminder, do your homework find out which shop to buy stuff all. Coz some shop might charge higher but some a lot cheaper. Kak Salmah’s shop for all those souvenir but some item can be slightly expensive than the other shop 😉 trust me, you wont get all cheap.

Brooches, i dont buy much so any shop or i think 209 or is it 215 or 210? Try your luck. Anyway, buy what you like not what you force to. Take your time, some shop only sell in bulks, so ask. They or some of them dont bother to ask you as well. They just don’t bother. Maybe they dont speaks English or they just dont sell to single customer. Good luck with your shopping journey.

👍:
-Definitely worth a visit if you are here. There are two main streets that sells food and other stuffs like clothing shoes etc and even ginseng shops.
-If you are nearby and don't know where the main street is look out for a tourist guide wearing red color that is able to guide you in many different languages.
👎:
-There are not alot of places that has seating so you most likely need to stand and eat. Some coffee shops have outdoor seating but you need to purchase a drink before you can sit outside their shop.

Highly recommended market for tourists. Huge area with lots of shops, at least at three levels.
Have jewelleries, clothings, beddings, foods etc at cheaper prices.
There are many nice brooches with swarowski stones. Unfortunately, they don't accept credit cards.
The t shirts are cheap with less qualities. The stockings are cheap and have nice designs.
Seaweeds, parsamon, dried anchovies, shrimp and squids are all nice.

Namdaemun Market is the largest market in Seoul. It is full of shops and stalls selling all kinds of goods including clothes, shoes, hats, household items, utensils, souvenirs, ginseng wine, etc.

There are many food and drinks stall too, offering delicious local dishes, traditional cakes and snacks. A few stalls are so popular that there always a queue of customers waiting.

It is among the must-visit places in this city. It opens early in the morning and remains open till the evening.

Noodle alley is tasty and cheap. Space is tight but the restaurants are very welcoming. For dessert, stop at one of the street side donut shops for a fresh, warm donut twist lightly coated with sugar. Guard your purse or wallet with exceptional care, as this is an extremely crowded area frequented by tourists.

When shopping, prices for commodity items are almost always negotiable. To illustrate, the chopsticks shown had a starting price of 10,000 won (about $9) per package. The final price was 11,000 won for two packages...probably still overpaid. You may get a gruff "NO DISCOUNT" in response, but simply move on to the next stall which is likely selling the exact same item. (Actual results may vary, blah, blah, blah.)

I ended up purchasing a few extra bracelets. My friend love it.

Nice traditional market, you can find all kind of souvenirs with affordable prices. Even still you can negotiate for the price if you want to...
The money changer in the middle of the market also gives the good value for foreign money...

Coming from the vibrant city of San Francisco, I didn't expect to be swept away by the bustling energy of another market so easily. Yet, Namdaemun Market (남대문시장) in Seoul was a sensory overload in the best possible way.

While I've tasted 붕어빵 (fish-shaped red bean sweet) back home at Costco in California, nothing compares to savoring it right in the heart of Seoul. It's not just about the food, but the ambiance that comes with it. The aroma of freshly baked 붕어빵 wafting through the air, the sound of sizzling street food, and the chatter of vendors and visitors alike; it's an experience, a vibe that you simply can't replicate.

The market is a sprawling maze of shops, each with its unique offerings, from clothes to trinkets, and everything in between. The energy here is infectious, a testament to Seoul's dynamic spirit. It's a blend of the old and new, where traditional stalls stand proudly beside contemporary shops.

For anyone visiting Seoul, especially those from the Bay Area like me who thrive on energy and urban excitement, Namdaemun Market is a must-visit. Dive into the heart of Korean culture, taste its flavors, and immerse yourself in its lively rhythm. Highly recommended for an authentic tourism experience!

Must visit. Some street food but lots and lots of stores. Good deals. You can find good lids clothing. Souvenirs and Korean snack shops. Scarves gloves socks men's and women's underwear. Be sure to bargain or at least ask for a discount if you purchase 2 or more things from one vendor.

Best place to buy Korean souvenirs. Shops in the buildings are way cheaper than those in the main street. Good luck

Felt bad visiting here after going multiple times to Hongdae market. Pricing of food there is almost double of what you can get here. Also you can buy cheap treats/souvenirs here! Most stalls on this market closes early (~19:00?) so I advise go early.

It's a big area, there's an underground, indoor & outdoor market. There are few stalls selling food but no seating area, some let you eat nearby, some don't.

Great place to shop for anything and everything. Be ready to negotiate. Never agree to the price the seller tells you, haggle! You’ll get it for half price or less.
We enjoyed buying bunch of things here and having fun with the locals.

Absolute must visit when in Seoul
