Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)

The futuristic design of this impressive place will make you feel like you've traveled forward on time. Words can simply not describe it, you'll have to check it out yourself.
We unfortunately didn't get to see everything inside since they had started closing, make sure to check their closing times to make the most of your visit.
It is located right next to the subway station.

I'm generally not an artsy guy, but it was a rainy morning, so I needed an indoor option, and I was staying only a block away. What a lucky stroke!

There are several public spaces and design centers, a shop with plenty of DDP gifts & souvenirs you won't find elsewhere, a rooftop park, and it's surrounded by a bustling street market, including food vendors.

The main attraction during my visit was the exhibit hall, featuring LUX Poetic Resolution - 16 fascinating rooms using the latest technology to create art from sound and light.

This futuristic cultural arts and technology center is well worth a visit.

Absolutely beautiful building (designed by Zaha Hadid) with a plethora of things to see and do inside.

When I visited there was an inflatable tube display on the roof, a futuristic technology exhibit, various light shows and displays, and a big gift shop. And best of all, everything was free to see.

Possibly one of the most advanced places in Seoul, Dongdaemun Design Plaza has innovative architecture, science-themed features, and fun activities for tourists. For that alone, you should visit it. While some sections require a ticket, there are also free ones where you can appreciate art and science more. There are also plenty of stores here.

I’d highly recommend it for anyone coming to Seoul. So much to see and do and it is yet another Zaha Hadid masterpiece that cannot be missed, for all the architecture lovers.

Within the centre itself are experience rooms where you can play around with exhibits or stay to read in the library

This place has amazing views. There is a bus and subway stop in front so getting here is very convenient. From here you can travel by bus to the place to buy ginseng very quickly (within 20 minutes). This place is near the center of Seoul, we can buy everything in this building or go to the opposite building - Hyundai Building to shop and receive duty-free goods.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP; Korean: 동대문 디자인 플라자) is a major urban development landmark in Seoul, South Korea, designed by Zaha Hadid and Samoo, with a distinctively neofuturistic design characterized by the "powerful, curving forms of elongated structures." The landmark is the centerpiece of South Korea's fashion hub and popular tourist destination, Dongdaemun, featuring a walkable park on its roofs, large global exhibition spaces, futuristic retail stores, and restored parts of the Seoul fortress. The DDP has been one of the main reasons for Seoul's designation as the World Design Capital in 2010. Construction started in 2009, and it was officially inaugurated on March 21, 2014.[2] It is physically connected to Seoul Subway via Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station on Line 2, 4, and 5.

Such a cool place to visit. There are a lot of spots you can explore here. Two exhibitions were going on when I visited. The Design Lab is cool, too. If you have time, I'd recommend to visit and explore.

DDP stands for Dream, Design and Play.

It is a very big building with futuristic design with delicate curves and bold shapes. It is a venue for exhibitions, conferences, forums, fashion shows etc.

It is also a filming location for many Kdramas and movies. Kdrama fans would recognize the yellow piano there. A good place Instagrammable photos!

Love this place for innovative ideas , well displayed seems like we are in the future already, the place is very good if you have a stressful day or hectic, you can sit and relax over a cup of coffee while reading a book as well, there is a store which they sell the products design by different designer from all over the globe.

Amazing architecture. Don't miss it of you come to Seoul. They normally hold exhibitions or events so it's a good place to spend some quality time at.

DDP is a symbolic building in Seoul, created by the famous architect Zaha Hadid. It hosts exhibitions, museums, shops, etc.

A true masterpiece. Beautiful all day, but I love it better at night with all the lights. Best to go around 6pm so you'll have time to first visit the museum inside and then just take photos outside after. I believe the museum closes at 8pm, but you can stay on the grounds until late at night. The exhibits change all the time so there's always something new to see here. ❤

Wonderful building with stunning lines and curves and contrast. Mandatory spot for architecture and design lovers, like myself.

Majestic building located in ddm. Close to the market. I walked to the market after visiting.

This place is worth to visit. But be careful!!! You easily lost your way.
