This is one of the oldest and most beautiful temples in Korea nestled deep into the mountains. Not only are the temples breathtaking, it is the training sight and home to Korean Buddhism.

The compound itself is large with many things to see. However, it is steep in elevation and there are several steps to climb. I highly advise wearing comfortable shoes.

I went in Dec 2022 & there was a fair amount of snow. However, the grounds are well kept and the property overall is in great shape. You are allowed to enter the temples, but you will have to take off your shoes.

There is also a little shop for souvenirs on the ground; however, you need to bring Korean Won. On the way up to the temple, there is a market area filled with souvenir stores, coffee shops, & a few restaurants. Most of those places take card.

Highly recommend this place to visit.

Beautiful and relaxing, it's very interesting seeing a mix of past and present. The shops at the entrance has a lot of character. Take your time and have a drink.

Very beautiful scenery and architecture.
I'm not Buddhist but I can appreciate the beauty of the scene .
It's a nice place to walk around and take pictures and just observe.

Beautiful and relaxing temple with lots to see and experience in both the temple complex and just outside.
Though you will have to travel there by bus or car, the destination is worth it.
Tip: with rivers and streams around the temple grounds, bring bug spray (lots of mosquitoes in summer)

This is a beautiful monastery on top of a mountain only a couple hours bus ride from Seoul. I did a temple stay program here for two days and had a great time. The hosting monks were incredibly friendly, and the grounds were a joy to walk around. The highlight is doing an early morning hike to the top of the mountain behind the monastery to see the sunrise.

VERY BEAUTIFUL TEMPLE IN Cheongchung-namdo. Garden was fantastic and huge. You could feel Korean traditional beauty from it.
