Kuraya Hashimoto

A very interesting store. There are presented both very expensive antique swords, as well as decorative ones and for practice. I bought myself a decorative sword that was superior to anything I had seen in other markets in Japan. The owner is very kind, she packed the purchase very well and even accompanied us. I'll definitely be back in a year for wakizashi for the full collection.

Kuraya Hashimoto was recommended to us by our tour guide in March 2024 and it turned out to be a highlight of our trip. They have decorative swords along with real samurai swords in stock at a variety of price points. The purveyors are very knowledgeable, kind and trustworthy. I ended up buying two decorative swords and one real sword and couldn't be happier. I highly recommend Kuraya Hashimoto!

Small store well stocked with weapons of various quality that are made in Japan. The female employee we worked with was very knowledgeable and helpful. She speaks enough English to communicate and is very nice. We choose to have her ship our purchases back home, and they arrived today. Thank you for a wonderful and easy shopping experience!

Great quality for knife, swords and weaponry enthusiasts! If you're looking to buy a cool mini sword to decorate your room this is the place. Hand made & much better quality and price than all the touristic places, and on top of it all the store keeper is friendly, kind and speaks good English!

During our trip to Japan, I greatly desired to aquire authentic historical Japanese swords. I knew beforehand that Kyoto was the ideal place to look. We had a local guide who was instrumental in making this aquisition. We went to a couple shops before our guide called hashimoto. We never would have found this shop on our own, probably because of the way it's labeled on Google maps as an art store. This specialty sword shop is definitely a jem in the rough. I am very pleased with our interactions with the owners and the quality of pieces we were able to have shipped home to the states.
If you are in the market for a legitimate Japanese blade, look no further than hashimoto.

My son is now the proud owner of a beautiful replica katana. We stopped to have a look at the swords after visiting Nijo-jo and the owner was extremely helpful. As we were at the beginning of our 3 week holiday to Japan it was suggested to us that they could arrange to post our purchase home to Australia. The additional cost was worth it as we did not have to take it with us on our travels around Japan and we didn't have any issues with Customs on arrival. It turned up in the post today delivered right to our front door. Thank you Kuraya Hashimoto, we loved every minute of your beautiful country and my son now has a fabulous souvenir he will treasure forever.

I first came to this store in 2001 on my 1st trip to Japan. I was touring the nearby castle (Nijo-jo) and stopped in to look around, having an interest in swords. The lady shopkeeper was busy with another customer and the store is very small. I resolved to come back when they were less busy. I did come back later in the afternoon and the shopkeeper recognized me and offered me some tea. We sat for a while and chatted, as best as we could since I only know a few Japanese words, and they a few English words. We spoke of Fuji-san and it was the best conversation I had in Japan that trip. I bought a Wakazashi replica and have it proudly displayed. My 2nd trip I bought a Katana replica. And my third trip a Tanto. I now display all three very proudly. If you are near to the castle, drop in and see the shop. I recommend it highly. Domo arigato.

Nice lady running the store, picked up a cheap jutte suitable for training for about $16. The sexier one cost about $100, but the cheaper one will suit me fine, she also wrapped it very nicely.

突撃訪問に完全予約制とあり、30分後再訪。高額から短剣、模造刀、鍔までピンキリに陳列する店内を色々と物色して、結局お手頃な昭和60年宇高成典氏作の現代刀を購入。鞘は当てがいだったため新調をお願いする。鞘師と塗師も多忙を極め早くて半年掛かるとかで、受け取りに来るか送りにするかとなる。手付金として品代の二割を渡し、登録証の名義変更も依頼する。
二代目店主さんとその姉が切盛りするお店だが、質問には親切に答えて頂き良い買物が出来た。その節はありがとうございました。

2022年2月に訪問。コロナの影響で、事前予約制となっていましたので、お電話にて予約を取り、訪問しました。コンパクトな店内に数々の刀剣が並んでおり、槍やなぎなたなどもありました。当方の希望を上手く聞き出してくれて、どんな刀が欲しいかをお伝えしながら、色々と見せていただきました。実際に購入を決めた後は、手入れの方法とその道具の使い方なども、実際に使用しながらご指導いただきました。また、登録変更などもその場で書き方を教えていただけたので、大変助かりました。充実した、素敵な時間を過ごさせていただきました。

Nous souhaitons acheter un katana en souvenir de notre voyage au japon à un prix abordable. Ce magasin vends des katanas fabriqué au japon. Nous avons été très bien conseillé par les vendeurs qui sont vraiment très gentils. Le katana est de qualité en bois et peau de requin pour le manche et en bois laqué pour le fourreau. Etant un katana décoratif, la lame n'est pas aiguisé, ce qui permet bien sûr de passer les douanes plus facilement. Nous avons demandé au magasin de procéder à un envoie pour éviter d'avoir a le transporter. Nous l'avons reçu en quelques jours seulement. Attention, il vous faudra prévoir également de payer la TVA française (20%) et des frais de douane une fois arrivée en France à la réception...

Đây là cửa hàng lưu niệm truyền thống của Nhật Bản. Cửa hàng bán các loại dao kiếm giả cổ của Nhật rất đẹp để du khách mua về làm quà lưu niệm. Đặc biệt hàng hóa ở đây toàn bộ là made in Japan chứ không phải China như tại các trung tâm du lịch khác. Giá thì phải chăng, rẻ bằng 1/2 tại đền bên cạnh. Cửa hàng lại nằm ngay trung tâm. Phục vub tuyệt vời.
