Went with a large student group to make sweets. Red bean paste is not my favorite but making these sweets was a super unique experience that I can’t recommend enough for people visiting Kyoto!

Fun activity for the morning before going out for the day - making japanese wagashi sweets.

The teacher speaks little English, though it was still fine.

Friendly teacher and staff. Fun times!

We came here with our friends for a wagashi making class and it was a great experience for all of us, kids 9 & 12 and grownups. There is a short instruction sheet in English and the actual lesson is in Japanese with the hands of the teacher projected onto a big screen, so it’s easy to follow along. Our resulting wagashi looked beautiful and were very tasty, too! Highly recommend.

I want to visit yearly and learn how to make sweets! I interpreted the Wagashi Tsukuri Class for my family as they only speak English.

Got to try making wagashi here and it was really fun! The teacher didn't speak much English, but it was still quite easy to follow along.

We stopped here as part of a walking tour. So glad we found this place. It had the best sweets.
It was beautifully setup. The master chef was very delighted to show his creations of handcrafted sweets. It was a great experience and would love to visit again.

We took a confectionary class here. Though the teacher did not speak English, he showed us step by step so we were able to follow along just fine. He came around the table and gave us individual help when we needed it. He was pleasant and patient. We made 4 kinds of sweets. They served tea for us to drink while we ate the last sweet. We tried the other ones later and they were equally delicious. It was a fun experience.

Beautiful traditional Kyoto style sweets. Wagashi-making classroom was very enjoyable. You bring back at least two pieces you make, and more if lucky. Instruction sheets available in other languages. Good selection of seasonal tea ceremony sweets and more common ones, soooo very much like. Might have eaten too much sweets in the few days following visiting here.

Best place for Wagashi making experience. you make 4 different kinds, and the shapes and flavors change monthly. While the theacher doesn't speak English, there is a sheet in English with the ingredients and has half of what he says written down. Instructions for making are done with a visual example so it is easy to follow. Tea at the end of the experience is also good. It is worth noting than moste of the decrative pieces in glass boxes are also made from candy. Also plenty of tasty sweets available for sale.
